I’ve been here 3 times now, once with my friends, once with my girlfriend and once with the parents. All 3 times I’ve had a decent experience. The food is good but not amazing but having said that the menu is pretty huge and I’ve got nowhere near having had a representative sample of everything they have to offer. The atmosphere is nice and the staff have always been good. The first time I went with my friends we all had a roast dinner and they brought one of them very late to the point we had all almost finished. There was about 14 of us on a table that wasn’t booked but given the size of the pub that shouldn’t have been an issue. The staff were very good about it however and offered us all a free dessert to say sorry… can’t complain! Overall if you’re after somewhere to satisfy the tastes of a large group or just want a nice pub meal and aren’t after fine dining, the Didsbury will do just fine. I kind of want to give 3 ½ stars but as I’m feeling generous I’ll give it 4 not 3.

I think the Didsbury is an excellent pub that just gets it right. There is an excellent and large beer garden which is great to sit in if the weather is good. The wicker furniture always looks inviting and the atmosphere great. Inside is also very nice too and the food is superb. I have been many times and have never had a bad meal. On my last visit I ordered the seabass, scallop and asparagus risotto which was cooked to perfection. I also had the banoffee cheesecake for dessert which was so good I could have eaten two. A great lunch choice if ever you are in Didsbury.

Went here on a Saturday night and the place was dead, it had only one ale on pump(which wasn’t kept very well) and the staff were rude, and told us where we had to sit(by the door in a cold draft). Will not be going back there again!

So, I went on a sunny Sunday day with both of my parents. It’s a very parent friendly place. I don’t know how many years I’ve been going, but it’s food quality has always been a reliable over that time. At peak mid-afternoon time on a Sunday, expect the food took around 30 – 40 minutes to come. Fairly typical, and who’se in a rush on this day in the week? All food was of a good high quality. Something possessed me to get a salad? But don’t worry both my parents had a roast dinner! Great to be able to sit out and enjoy the sun. Part of the appeal is that It’s just a short stroll around the corner to both Parsonage Gardens & Fletcher Moss Botanical Gardens. So if you want to persuade yourself you’ve earn’t your dinner you’re in the right place, and it’s a fairly easy stroll to get that feeling you’ve earn’t your meal. Though you could of course walk all the way down the Mersey if you were really feeling energetic after your meal. A definite improvement would be for a couple more bar staff, or even table service at peak times. Also the pay & display parking sets the wrong tone, but I’m sure there’s a very valid reason with it being the main parking for people wishing to go for a walk in the area. Drinks wise their was a couple of ales on, and those who were drinking liked them. A good civilised pub, that comes into its own on a sunny civilised day.

Great pub! Been coming here for 4 years and it’s just fab! Good selection of tasty beers, wines and cider and even better food! I’ve had a selection of good food from here from pies to platters these guys have really got it covered! Outdoor seating is great and always a tasty roast on a Sunday. Kids and dogs welcome– staff are always friendly and helpful! I’d recommend the chicken and mushroom pie on the lunchtime menu! Comes with mash, gravy and peas for only £6?! Bargain!

Came here for a drink with a friend and it was pretty busy around 7pm but it was a lovely sunny day and everyone loved being outside. They had wooden rustic outdoor seating and it was quite nice but the ambiance was a bit ‘stiff’. However I had a nice time but would not come again with my friends.

Food: Great Sunday Roast, so many meat choices, + generous portions to satisfy the biggest appetite. I ate the pork roast it was deelish! The Yorkshire puddings are massive and v nice not too crispy not too bland. Just right. I tried the choc fudge cake too with cream, it finished me off, lol totally satisfied my sweet tooth. Felt v lardy and sleepy following the Sunday Roast Aesthetics: They’ve kept this bar clean and nice, unspoiled — a great place Service: Really good, food arrives quickly, don;t forgt to refer to your table number on placing order. Overall: Great value, delicious food, great outdoor seating too, and lovely country walks nearby which is handy if you devoured the choc fudge cake, like me.

A great country style pub right in Didsbury Village, It has a large beer garden at the front and it gets really busy in the summer, Drinks were a bit pricey at around £4 a pint but thats the going rate, The inside isn’t that special to be honest and smells a bit, so i would only suggest you come here in the Summer and enjoy there lovely beer garden.

The Didsbury. That’s a bold name indeed. Does this gastro-esque pub indeed sum up all that is Didsbury in a cosy, beam-ceilinged microcosm? Why, it gives it a jolly good shot. This is a place that is packed upon weekends, as I know from attempting entry for their famous Sunday lunch one week and being told it was a 45 minute wait… however, if you come here on a weekday, particularly one that is between Christmas and New Year, you’ll find it delightfully calm with only a smattering of groups; we shared it with what looked like a casual group of colleagues with crackers and party hats, a few families with little children and a couple who kept eavesdropping on our conversation. I didn’t mind that — I was happy that we seemed so interesting. My companion and I happily took advantage of the free parking and took the executive decision to opt for a sharing platter once we were nestled inside its warm belly. And gosh, this pub is warm on a blustery winter day, that’s for sure. Our antipasti dish consisted of olives with sundried tomatoes, peppers, baby onions and such in oil, a basket of breads including fresh white, brown and herby flatbread, oil and balsamic, three types of Italian ham, houmous, feta and any sauces we wanted, salad, and we ordered a side of sweet potato fries. The latter ranks amongst the very best uses of sweet potato in the whole of Manchester — that’s alongside Fuel, Trof and Giraffe. The olives were delectable and their marinade made for a great dipping sauce, not that we were short of that what with the houmous and a gorgeously sticky balsamic reduction hiding within flavoursome olive oil. Everything tasted fresh and delicious, the only things I’d change would be the salad(crunchy enough but needed a bit of oomph and a few mixed leaves) and the price of the hot beverages. Almost £2.50 apiece for tea and coffee? Yowzers! It was however amazing that we got all that platter food for under a tenner, and could we finish it? Could we bobbins. I’ll certainly be back for some warm, lazy winter weekend lounging, and I plan to feast away and bring a good book. The place looks great, feels great and offers a yummy treat as well as great service. Definitely an asset to Didsbury, and not a bad way of summing up the village itself.

The Didsbury is my favourite pub in Didsbury. It’s especially great in the summer when you can sip a refreshing pint of cider in the beer garden out the front. And it’s the closest to a real beer garden that you’ll get in Manchester without venturing out towards the Peak District. For the other 364 days of the year there are parasols and patio heaters. As stated by Alfie, The Didsbury does really good pub grub, but always have a second choice in mind when going up to the bar to order, as they often sell out of dishes, especially on Sundays. But I suppose it’s reassuring that they run out of food as it implies that they aren’t just going to defrost something and pop it in the microwave. I went to the Didsbury last night, but due to the fact it was a Sunday night most of us decided to opt for non-alcoholic drinks. I was quite shocked that it cost £2.64 for a pint of coke, making a round the same price as usual. I’d recommend The Didsbury for a quiet drink, meeting a group of friends or a decent meal… last night we *think* that we witnessed a proposal in there too.

The Didsbury is a great pub, and is very easy to spot just on the way out of east Didsbury. The atmosphere is warm and cosy, especially in winter as they have real wood fires on the go! Its a real old English pub. The food and drink is in my opinion slightly above average in comparison to other gastropubs in the area, having said that… so are the prices, you should expect to pay around £10 for a main. The extensive menu will keep all palates happy, and it changes regularly too! There is a huge choice of beers and real ales for the connoisseurs out there, and some good wines. Get there early for lunch on a Sunday as it gets rammed — fast! The beer garden is quite pleasant in summer, and the large on-site car park is convenient too.

Whenever I’m arranging a rendezvous in Didsbury, this place always comes to mind. I have been here quite a few times, mostly for a drink or two but have also dined here on a couple of occasions with friends and family. The warm, relaxed décor and atmosphere is the perfect setting in which to catch up with a friend, enjoy some comfort food by the roaring fire in the colder months(which seems to be 11 months of the year now!) or in the summer to lounge around on the expansive patio/garden at the front of the pub. In my experience the staff have always welcoming and friendly but not overly so. I had a rather embarrassing situation one time when i had arranged to meet a date here and somehow we had managed to turn up at 2 different Didsbury pubs! Unbeknown to me there is another pub within Didsbury named ‘The Didsbury’ very confusing! So I’m sat there becoming increasingly anxious about my date’s no show and he is sat in the other doppelgänger! We finally worked out over the phone that we were in fact, not in the right place. Doh! I ended up chatting to the staff whilst waiting for my date and they couldn’t have been lovelier — in what could have been a potentially stressful situation. So I really really appreciated that. The only slight criticism I have is that they seemed to run out of ingredients quite often so have had to pick something different to the dish I’d been looking forward to all day — in the big picture of things I can get over this though! All things considered a cosy authentic & fabulous traditional pub but with a touch of class and a dollop of raw charm. If you can, make sure to bag the table by the fire! Bonus Tip: If you are thinking of this place for a date Its in close proximity to Fletcher Moss Park which makes for the most delightful after dinner stroll.
