On a cold rainy afternoon this is the place you will want to be, of course I partook of a hot chocolate(mint) and cake, with friends. The tea was good too according to my friends there is a good selection of teas here. I am pleased to say that the cake was rich and for want of a better word ‘Yummy’. The staff are welcoming and the real definition of friendly, they were honest about timings for arrivals(it was really very busy). I would certainly recommend this place to everyone.

I was looking for a place to work on a cold dreary day in Chorlton. I decided to hit up Tea Hive as I’ve heard lots of good about it. Had a scone with jam, a latte and a flat white(I was there for a while), and was buzzing in no time. Thought the coffee drinks were good, the scone better and the space even better than that. Perfect amount of people and ambient noise. The décor is quaint and inviting. Servers were nice and helpful. All in all a great place to post up for a bit. Next time will come back and try the teas and maybe a cake.

Found myself in Chorlton the other day(as you do) and my trusty companion(the Unilocal app) prompted me towards Tea Hive. Good choice old friend! I had a Flat White that was a little over £2, and for that I got a lovely Caffeine kick and nice place to do some work. The place was quiet, not as in empty, but as in noise was at a minimum, which I love! A lot of places these days are all about the hustle and bustle and you can barely hear yourself think. Not sure when my next visit to Chorlton will be, but this is a brilliant little spot for drink, and the food smelt amazing too, though I didn’t sample on this occasion!

Lunch at Tea Hive is always a treat — such fresh, flavoursome food and a really quaint café. Even the bread in their sandwiches is delicious, and they do a fantastic soup, sandwich and slice of cake deal. A wide selection of teas and coffees, served up in lovely tea cups. Oh, and the cakes really are divine! The only thing that perhaps lets them down a little is the service — sometimes can be a bit slow and sloppy

I’m still in love with the place, headed again his weekend, whilst planning to sanple something new, I couldn’t resist indulging in the eggs tea hive again… Simply delicious! Being more of a tea lover than coffee, I appreciate their vast array of lovely tea blends! As with my last visit here, I was too full to fit in any of their homemade cakes but keen not to miss out we chose two slices to take home and enjoy later… A chocolate salted carmel cake and a chocolate and raspberry tort both polished off with a cup of tea at home! Yes this place is on the pricey side for breakfast but its worth it considering the quality of produce and delicious flavours of their food and drinks! TO-DO: Plan visit to sample afternoon tea! :)

the perfect place for breakfast in Chorlton! tried it after to have seen the excellent reviews on Unilocal and I dont regret, will probably go back anytime soon! The atmosphere is nice and chill out and staff very friendly! For breakfast I got the poach egg — bacon –avocado on muffin(dont remember the name) that was delicious and fresh! went there with my couple of friends from France that got the full english breakfast and really enjoyed it(yes french people dont only eat sweet food for breakfast :)) they also had a selection of cakes that seems interesting but unfortunately had no room to try them! too bad I guess, I’ll have to come back! If you want to go there during the weekend, booking are highly recommended as this place got very popular!

Yum. That could be my review. For a little more detail I’d have to add that I’m glad I live so close to here but that it might be better for me if I didn’t as its too tempting! This is a really cosy little tea shop that you could easily spend a whole afternoon in with a friend or a book/laptop. It’s always busy but not overly so. The cakes are delicious and the menu always makes me dither as its always a dilemma over savoury or sweet goodness. It’s got an appealing mismatched Kirsty Allsopp style homemade look to the upstairs and downstairs rooms. In a good way. Of course there’s a large selection of loose leaf teas, plus various coffees and hot chocolate flavours. Great for summer or winter with some tables outside that catch the afternoon sun. They even serve alcohol. What more could you ask for? I just wish their opening hours were longer.

Had a fantastic afternoon tea at Tea Hive yesterday. The place is very quaint and a bit like you granny’s front room with mismatched china plates and cups to give it a bit of a vintage theme. The service was extremely friendly and attentive. We ordered the champagne afternoon tea which at 15 pounds each wasn’t bad. We could choose from 6 different sandwich fillings and we’re given 4 slices of delicious cakes and mammoth scones with homemade jam. A very pleasant way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Lovely place. The Tea Hive does great tea, great coffee, great cakes, and great breakfasts. On my most recent visit I had Eggs Benedict with avocado and mushrooms — it was basically everything I wanted from my breakfast. On another visit I had a blueberry and sour cream cake that was one of the best cakes I’ve ever had. Unfortunately on my last visit I got a slice of baked caramel cheesecake to take out that was not good. The texture and flavour were really unpleasant and I had to throw most of it away. Hopefully this was just a case of differing tastes or a one-off as I enjoy having somewhere close by that I can rely on for a great sweet treat.

Nice visit to the Tea Hive today! Sat outside out the back in their little yard which is decorated nicely with lots of flowers and tasteful furniture. As a group we just had tea and cakes but being sunny I enjoyed the ‘iced tea of the day’ which was a tasty Turkish apple tea. Wide range of hot teas and drinks also, my companions enjoyed their large pots of tea each and they were reasonably priced. As always the cakes we all had from here were delicious — banoffee pie, chocolate or and and lime cheesecake and a lemon and blueberry cake. Delish! Also a classic cream tea(with 2 scones!) and homemade jam was £5.50 per person — quite reasonable! They also serve food but I have never sampled. Always a reliable visit for a good drink and bit of cake!

A cute little vintage style tea rooms serving an array of delicious looking cakes, brownies and muffins as well as a small selection of savoury and brunch items. I’ve been a few times before and it’s nearly always packed but by the time my sister and I got there it was after 4pm and we managed to get a table straight away. We opted for a pot of house blend tea for 2 which was a really lovely loose leaf tea served in a china teapot with proper cups and saucers(although nowhere near enough milk for 2 people) and a scone with jam(a little mean on the jam too) and clotted cream and a slice of some kind of toffee/chocolate-y frosted sponge cake to share. The cake was pretty good but the scone tasted dry and a little stale. It took them quite a while to bring us the scone so I assumed they were warming or toasting it but it came cold so I’m not even sure if they weren’t defrosting it. Being very British we didn’t say anything but it was tasteless and disappointing. The service was friendly and it’s a cute place but it’s all in the detail and it just wasn’t quite there for me this time.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this place for afternoon tea with one of my most regal friends! Beautiful tea pots, freshly baked cakes, and comfy chairs got us off to what was a promising time. Sadly, the service let them down. They cleared my plate whilst I was still eating my food. They needed calling over three times for us to order more drinks, and they deliberately gave me £5 change in change instead of a note in the hope I’d tip. However, anywhere that serves chai tea latte in a tea pot deserves a second chance… Will keep you posted !!!

The attention to detail is the really lovely thing at The Tea Hive, with beautiful crockery and a huge range of speciality teas. None of them are cheap, but in terms of food the prices seem quite reasonable and there are soup-and-sandwich deals for lunch which I’ve taken advantage of in the past. A lovely place to relax with tea and the papers, or for a weekend brunch. My husband has often worked here(he’s a writer) and found the staff very accommodating to his occupying a table for a couple of hours on one or two coffees, as long as they’re not too busy. The Tea Hive is quite small, though, and sometimes too full to get in. The only annoying thing is that the door opens directly into the tea room and people often don’t bother to shut it after them, meaning that on a cold day you’ll be continually hopping up and down to protect yourself from drafts.

Lovely place, lovely produce, lovely people! That sums it up really. …but honestly, Tea Hive is a little gem on this equally heavenly stretch of high street. Although they specialise in loose leaf tea the owners obviously put the same amount of love and attention into everything they source(locally) and produce, as the flat white and bowl of homemade onion soup I ordered were delicious. For an indie café the level of detail and care that the owners have taken with the space and menu has created a really unique space, perfect for whiling away a few weekend hours. It’s obviously a popular location as all tables on the from veranda and inside were taken during the early Sunday brunch rush but they do have a back garden as well.

The best tea and cake and I had the entire time I was in England, hands down. Finally a place where I wasn’t paying 11 dollars for a snack! The place is cozy, warm, the staff are very nice, and there’s a host of teas, jams and preserves for sale. Such a lovely neighborhood feel to the place as well.

We love this place, probably come too often! Tea Hive(@teahivetweets) is the best café come cake shop come tea shop in the world in my humble opinion. Tea Hive have a mesmerising array of teas, from their own basic blend to some high-end, expensive(but worth it) luxury teas. The cakes are all home made, mostly fresh that day as they get woolfed down pretty darn quick. The range is astounding and there always seems to be something new to try. Breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, all catered for in style, with beautiful teapots, lovely, antique china cups and friendly, enthusiastic staff. The menu is delightfully simple with, two sandwiches and one soup(sometimes two) specials added on each day. Again, all the soups and sandwiches are freshly home-made(soup on the day, sandwiches to order). Beware, it gets busy at meal times so sometimes, hobbled by Tea Hive’s own resounding success, it can take a little while to receive your order of food once it’s been taken. Regardless of whether you have to wait or not, you won’t be dissatisfied with the result, the food always tastes beautiful and there’s plenty enough to satiate even the hungriest teenager. Lastly, Tea Hive have a fantastic approach to people with special dietary requirements, happy to provide a number of different cakes for those needing gluten free, and they will also swap in gluten free bread for all their sandwiches. It’s a lovely place to eat, drink or just sit in the sun. Photo link:

This place opened late 2011 and has quickly established itself within Chorlton as high quality tea rooms– it also does vegan cakes– hence my interest! Loose leaf teas are the order of the day on mismatched vintage china surrounded by old chapel chairs and solid wood tables. The vegan Brownies are excellent and not just for vegans :-) A great place to meet with friends on a weekend morning or for a freelancers meeting during the week
