I’ve walked past this place loads of times and never thought to go in… I didn’t know what I was missing out on! Such a quirky little bar in the heart of Chorlton, great atmosphere and reasonable prices. We visited on Saturday night for a drink before our meal, and although it was busy we managed to find a few seats in the back room. The bar is small but well stocked, with a good selection of spirits as well as plenty of beers, ales and ciders on tap. Lovely wine too, and very fair prices. They also have some delicious bar snacks — popcorn, pistachios and homemade sourdough pretzels! The décor is really eclectic — feels like you’ve walked into a 70s living rooms, with a mish mash of patterns, colours and styles and lots of artwork on the walls. Warm and cosy, with a busy hum of groups and couples chatting away. In the end, we came back later after our meal for a few more drinks, and they had two DJs playing vinyls on the decks. It wasn’t sing-and-dance along kind of music, but it had everyone in good spirits. Great little find and look forward to visiting again soon.

A good place for a quiet drink before it get to busy, plus of course it is good to find a place with a good cider on tap(yes folks I will let you down with my drink choices). Anyway I really liked this place I suspect it will get loud later on, but i arrived to meet my friend at six on a Saturday and was pleasantly surprised by how lovely it was, plus the music was pretty good to(as in you could have a conversation over it without having to raise your voice, and it was kind of old school which I do like…). They have a good range of drinks, my friend likes her real ale, so I tend to believe her when she says whether things are good or not.

Real ales, cask and keg, a huge variety of speciality bottles and spirits, great ambient interior and front terrace, this is a night out! The music is a relaxed mix of alternative indie and folk with live performances most nights — the the toilet is behind the performer which can make you centre stage if you need to pass by! Gets busy quite early any night of the week but a great place to start, spend or end the night in!

Strange Brew is a quirky bar along Barlow Moor Road in Chorlton. The bar itself is quite dark with lots wooden tables and furniture. They do an excellent selection of craft beers including a range of Belgian beers. They have live music in the week which tends to be mainly folk and indie and the atmosphere is always nice and relaxed. he outdoor seating area at the front of the bar is also well used in the warmer months. A good bar to visit if you’re in the area.
