Oh I love Snowy joes! They do really swell slushes in different flavours and now that Spring has taken over, I love the roaming around sipping a slushie routine! Keeps me nice and frozen on the inside! They also have an awesome array of Frozen yogurts to choose from and they’re delicious and light. They don’t make you feel the weight of something huge that you just may have gobbled up! Snowy Joes is a cute little stand and you can spot it by the many little kids surrounding the stand and cutely choosing what they’d like to have!

Brief burst of nostalgia… old Arndale section is where Snowy Joes resides… ahhh bliss… lots of frozen sugary goodness that’s ohhhh so wrong, but you don’t wanna be right. Screw the diet, that’s what the gym is for. Slush puppiesssss… good times. Memories of childhood treats always come flooding back everytime I see that dopey dog on the front of one of those machines, lemon and lime, lovely. Marketing itself as a fast food pit stop style the Americana stylings of hotdogs and donuts and cookies and icecream and frozen yoghurt fit perfectly. Coolio. Oh and well priced too!

Fro-Yo! We don’t get enough frozen yoghurt here in the UK and I for one think it’s a crime, I personally find it tastier than ice cream(I always go for the yoghurt Ben and Jerry’s options) and it’s far healthier too. Which is why when I spotted Snowy Joe’s marketing itself as a healthier dessert of frozen yoghurt I was in there like swimwear. The stand itself is indeed a relic of the original Arndale Centre(architects have coldly said the bomb was probably a blessing in disguise… these mean designer types and their lack of respect for human life!) and I must confirm that the Fro-Yo is just about the only thing remotely healthy available from there. Otherwise it’s doughnuts(actually, DONUTS, this stall does have an American flag), hotdogs, cookies and everything else that makes the Olsen twins break out in cold sweats. It looks a little lost on its own without any other food stands to accompany it and would perhaps be more at home in the Food Court or at the cosy cliquey end with Ditsch and Subway and Bagel Nash, but perhaps being independent and standing ground is what Snowy Joe is all about, whoever Joe is and why he happens to be snowy. If you’re flagging during a shopping trip be sure to check out Scoop too but don’t leave Snowy Joe in the cold.

This place reminds me of the old days. Snowy Joe’s is about the only thing that looks like it’s from the old Arndale centre, it might very well be the only thing left! The doughnuts are very very good. Ridiculously sugary and fully of fatty goodness. The milkshakes aren’t really worth bothering with. Neither are the hotdogs or so I’ve heard, I’ve never actually tried one. Less of a queue than Millie’s Cookies and a hell of a lot cheaper!

Shopping at the Arndale requires energy reserves that healthy food just doesn’t give you. Snowy Joe’s has a wide selection of E number, sugar and fat filled snacks such as sandwiches, hot dogs, frozen yoghurts, doughnuts, slushies, milkshakes which although ultimately destined to kill you, will give you that extra pep necessary to negotiate your way through the hordes of ASBO faces that populate the corridors and stores of Manchester’s famous shopping shit heap.
