Got a Faluda here again(see my other Sanam sweethouse review) — different branch, same yumminess. I am a sucker for Pakistani/Indian sweets and desserts, so I am technically in heaven. Faluda is a mix of Kulfi ice-cream and a milkshake with loads of little bits like vermicelli and tapioca pearls, that add to the texture of this crazy half dessert, half drink concoction. If you like trying ethnic desserts, I would recommend this!

In keeping with my rule of sugary=good, Sanam Sweethouse is also good. But since it’s not as good as Sweetbox, I’ll have to revert to the second, lesser known rule, which is: Sweetbox is better than Sweethouse. Admittedly, it’s a fairly niche rule, with only the one real application, but it serves its purpose. Sweethouse is a decent place, but ultimately not as nice as Sweetbox, which remains elusively ahead in term of sugary goodness. Still, you may feel differently as taste is a fickle mistress, so I’d suggest you compare for yourself.

In my opinion the worst of the three main sweethouses on the curry mile, which are all situated within a few paces of each other. In my head I’ve built up a story in which all three, Sanam, Delhi Sweet Centre and Treats, are all involved in a fierce rivalry involving intrigue, espionage and covert sweet production and sale. Sanam has two stores next to each other, an attempt to overtake the market, but its failed. I wonder where I fit in to this complex political warfare, sticking my oar in and judging them all. I’m normal honest.

Sanam is a twofold business; on the left you’ve got the sweet house. With all manner of gorgeous treats that I can’t remember the name of. Go in and browse at the elaborate bits and see what the curry mile is really about, like its rivals Delhi down the road this sweet house is traditional and not part of the poor English interpretation of Indian foods. The sweets are reasonable and make the perfect pudding if you don’t want to waste your time with the truly crap selection offered by lots of the curry houses.
