Sanae Thai Spa

I had been feeling muscular pain, and going through an alkaline detox, so my body really needed some TLC, Rejuvenation. i booked sanae spa via treatwell.
Upon arriving to the «spa» i was a bit taken aback, as it is a shared shop, several shops under one roof, the spa was in the basement. After relaxing and taking off my clothes, the receptionist told me «I have to do the treatment, no one else is here!» I thought that was odd, but still proceeded with the massage.
After 10 minutes of what felt like she was just rubbing oil into me, i asked for more pressure, her response was «English usually like soft» I told her I have had 100s of Thai massages and i prefer to feel the massage, she put on a little more pressure. Just then we heard what sounded like running going back and forth in another room, I asked «What is that?» the receptionist replied
«Because it is a shared shop, we have a tailor upstairs, he brings his dog in everyday, he makes a lot of noise!» After that things seemed to go from bad to worst, the dog barked constantly for 20 minutes, running up and doen the floor, the «tailor who was in the room above» was constantly on his phone talking loud and swearing.
It literally sounded like the man and the dog were in the room with me getting a massage.
the receptionist told me to «complain to the man after my massage!»
she turned the music up, but at this point i couldnt wait for the 60 minutes to be over!!!
This venue is not suitable for a spa nor relaxing massages.
the receptionist really was not qualified in massages, she had no techniques, she didnt know simple thai practices, everything i told her she seemed as though she had absolutely no knowledge of massages.
After having over 150 Thai massages I am happy that this was not my first experience, as it would have genuinely put me off for life!
I do not like to leave bad reviews, but i believe in being honest and letting customers know what they are signing up for.

I’ve had massage here just the once and was very impressed with the young lady who treated me. Although of slight build, April easily has the strength and stamina to sustain a firm massage. She uses puts more emphasis on using her body weight and rubbing strokes than others I have had with not so much yoga stretches. Of the «rubbing» type of massages I have had, I would rank April up there with the very best. It feels like she is putting everything into it — mind, body and soul.
I checked into the spa after a long day in the city — I felt tired but my mind was whirring. A few minutes into the treatment, I had physically relaxed and the only thing on my mind was April’s massage strokes. After about 15 minutes, I had a severe headache which I sometimes comes on with the most thorough massages I have had — I call it a «detox headache». Sure enough, 45 minutes in, the headache had gone and I was feeling like a new man, and this feeling continued for the rest of the session and for a few days afterwards.
I think online marketing must be crucial for this place as their basement premises share an entrance with two street level businesses, therefore the only external signage is the sandwich board on the pavement. But it is worth the effort to hunt this place down — it is good, and handily located on a main street of Manchester’s Northern Quarter.
Once you are downstairs, everything is nicely decorated and spacious — a big reception with a couch from which a wide corridor leads to several large massage rooms. It is massage tables here rather than low beds, but still very comfortable and stable. I wasn’t offered a shower, but April had a useful technique of blotting off the excess oil after each part of the body had been massaged.
As April showed me the door, two other lady masseuses were seated on the reception couch. Both looked very presentable and the average age of the team seems to be 20s to late 30s.
I will definitely come back here, maybe do one more session with April before trying another lady.
One last thing — take a look at their website for their deals, not many Thai places do this. Wednesdays is «mad Wednesdays» £25/​h massage all day instead of £35/​h. They also have a loyalty card — ten massages is only £30/​h each.
