Robbo’s(technically Twisted now, but I’m an oldie) is like marmite– some love it, some hate it. The people who think it’s «okay» just haven’t made up their minds yet. I can(not proudly) declare that I love Robbo’s. I have never had a bad night there. The drinks prices are oh-so-cheap and the music is oh-so easy to dance to. There is nothing pretentious about Robbo’s. It’s a bit grubby; it’s a bit hot; but it really does feel like one massive house party! Downstairs it’s a bit more chillaxed– there’s pool, loads of seating, quiz machines, but still an accessible DJ booth(to request all your faves) and dance-floor space aplenty. Upstairs is where the party’s really at– it’s not open every night– but when it is make sure to get up early as they’re pretty strict about capacity. Upstairs you still have a fair bit of seating space– there are some semi-booth like little stall bits– great for having a sit down if you’ve done too much dancing– and if my memory serves me right(though we’ll get onto this later) some sofas and chairs in the little lowered area, which is great for sharing secrets while you wait for the loo. My one warning for this place– I do kinda feel like you have to be on the smashed side of tipsy. Which with the drinks prices they have, is not hard in any sense of the word. Obviously this does depend on your view on a night out, but crazy dancing is the key to Robbo’s, and drinking aids crazy dancing. I love it. Go with a group of your mates. Get pissed. Dance all your sorrows away. And I apologise for any ill after effects in the morning. EDIT: I still love Robbo’s but I’m not comfortable saying that it can have as good a star rating as places like Mughli. Robbo’s is the kind of place you don’t want to put your bag on the floor in the toilets. I love it, but it is not a four star venue. Sorry to be fickle! I’m trying to be consistent.

Robo’s is okay; it’s nothing to write home about, but it can be a fun time. I only came here on nights when societies I was in were having an event here, so I can’t vouch for a non-cowboy/sharpie-tshirt crowd. That said, I did enjoy those nights. Would I go back purely by choice? No.

Opinion is massively divided on Robinski’s, fondly known as Robbo’s by the local student population. I think if I had solely listened to the opinions of others, I might have been tempted to avoid this place, or at least be dragged there with low expectations. However I know better than to judge before personal experience, as I am just as culpable as the rest of the human race when it comes to focussing on the negatives. Therefore, let it be proclaimed: I have never had a bad night at Robbo’s. Granted that might have something to do with the company more than the location. Everytime I’ve been there has been either when Medics or the Uni’s Water Polo team descend upon the place ‘en masse’. But that said, would we keep going back if it was as bad as a lot of people make it out to be? No. Don’t have sky-high expectations and ye shall be happy. If you’re after a cheap and cheerful night out, then Robbo’s is your place. There is a large bar downstairs, and a dancefloor upstairs that opens when the place begins to fill up. Additionally there is a seated smoking area outside. There are bars on both floors and it’s never been that difficult to get served. They have £1 offers… I can’t remember what’s included but I know it involves Barcardi Breezers and a pint of something amongst other things! The rest of the drinks are also reasonable, and even more so if you have your Yellow Card to hand. I can be quite fussy when it comes to music, any but the DJ here doesn’t try any tricks and just sticks to chart music. It’s kept simple, and it works. I’m tempted to say that Sunday is the best night of the week, but Fridays and Saturdays aren’t that bad either. Occasionally on some nights, for unpredictable reasons it gets really crowded, and it can become quite sweaty upstairs, but if you sit down for a bit(I tend to be a perpetual shape-thrower) or get some fresh air it’s fine! Someone else here mentioned that Robbo’s is a rite of passage — I couldn’t agree more. You really have to form your own opinion on this one! So go and see for yourself…

Right, Robbos is way better than the low stars it’s got! You’ve just got to love it for what it is and enjoy yourself! I’m going to mainly do a review of Robbos during the day because at night it’s simply a great night. Cheap and very cheerful, enjoy the student fun. Also, I can barely remember leaving the place most of the time so there’s not a lot I can say. My flatmates and I frequented the bar to watch the 6 nations rugby and I have to say it was a really good place to go for it. Big projector screen and some smaller screens if you want to sit at a table by the window. Best place is on the stools at a table by the bar because the sofa gets rammed with keenos trying to get close to the screen. Pretty good food as well, surprisingly to me and very cheap. Chicken burger recommended. And the curly fries defo.

Robinski’s or Robbo’s as it is known by the masses it a scream bar in the student area of Fallowfield. It has a dance floor upstairs which is legendary to any student who has passed through the University of Manchester. Robbo’s is an institution; a rite of passage. The upstairs is not open everyday but it’s big night are Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The upstairs is the sweatiest, stuffiest, smelliest place I think I have ever been in, however I have rarely been in there when I have been sober enough to comprehend this. Being so drunk you can barely walk typifies the average Robbos goer. This is usually a direct result of how much Vodka Redbull they have consumed. People throw themselves around the dancefloor passionately to chessy chart classics. Although this place sounds horrible; it is actually such good fun! I don’t know if I could handle a Robbos night out these days but I will cherish the memories of wild nights out there for years to come!

I love Robbo’s! It is one of my best places to go out in fallowfield and I’m sure many others feel the same way! Robbo’s is a scream bar and thus is home to cheap but amazingly tasty food! I love the chicken bbq melt is has, throw in some curly fires to it and you’re basking in wonderfulness! On weekends, the upstairs is also open and it functions as a club. Though the upstairs can get very very crowded and sticky! But oh well they play good music and the drinks are even cheaper with their 99p deals! If you’re a student and Robbo’s has not been in your list to go out, I say you give that a shot real soon! It’s absolutely great!

Robinski’s is probably one of the worst places I’ve ever set foot in. The music is crap, the drinks are crap, the customers are mainly douches, either pissed up OP tarts in ‘sexy soldier’ or ‘sexy sailor’ or ‘sexy schoolgirl’ fancy dress, or idiot fresher boys trying to get off with someone… anyone. All seen through the haze of a Blossom Hill rose(around £7 a bottle, if you honestly must know), adding up to something akin to a pissup in a playgroup for the stupid and underdressed. OOOOH, hasn’t Becca got her claws out today! OK, yes, I’m being harsh. Here are positive points about the disgusting Robbo’s: — It keeps aforementioned spazoids out of good places like Trof and Big Hands — the drinks are cheap — errrrr, it’s quite… big??? God, being nice is BORING. Robbo’s is just another dirt-cheap haven for the less discerning customer. So if you want cheap nasty booze in plastic cups whilst listening/dancing to God-awful music, then yeah, Robbo’s is great. For everyone else though, heed my words, it’s just about the vilest place in Fallowfield.

Another day, another Scream bar. And from the reviews it seems that it is yet another bar which you will either love or hate. Yet again, this will depend on whether or not you’re a ‘Fallowfield person’. I never have been a Fallowfield person, therefore I am going to give Robbo’s a generous 2 stars. I can understand how first year Fallowfielders would have a good time here, creating plenty of hazy memories which can be looked back upon with fondness — this seems like the reason why Alfie and Lauren have rated this place highly. Apart from that it is everything you can expect from a Scream bar — cheap drinks, beer and burger deals, pool tables, cheesy music, TV screens, dinginess, drunk sports teams… I never really enjoyed it as a student, so I’m pretty certain I wouldn’t now(if they would even let me in!).

Oh my god, Robbo’s has got One star!!! Robinsky’s has achieved absolutely legendary status in Fallowfield. Everyone familiar with it holds it very close to their hearts indeed. Having said that, it is grim. But its part of its charm! True enough, it does pursue a fairly common formula for student venues, with overplayed popular music a crucial part of its make-up. And I too furiously dislike masses of students intend only on getting so drunk they can’t see but Robbo’s really does not deserve to be bracketed in with those all too common clubs and bars. Everyone in Robbo’s know what it’s all about; no one thinks its cool or original, but that’s the beauty of it. It repels pretentious folk at the door, and leaves the rest of us to have a great night. No-one swaggers around looking a wally at Robbo’s, and everyone is smiling. They have karaōke downstairs, and as it’s the kind of place that makes you feel you can relax, plenty of its fun-loving customers are keen to have a go without fear of being ridiculed. The upstairs, mainly a dance floor, is open Fridays and Saturdays until 2.30am, and occasionally opens randomly on other nights if its busy. It also plays host to events and parties for a number of Manchester University’s sports clubs and societies. Sundays, its £1 a pint(so you’re vision and wallet will be unaffected by one or two). If you aren’t sure you want a big one in town but fancy a laugh, a cheap drinkable beverage and maybe a cheeky dance, get down to Robbo’s and embrace it!!!

Now, I don’t know exactly who thought it would be a fantastic idea to open an It’s a Scream bar practically opposite another one, but here we have it. About 15 metres from Queen of Hearts is Robinski’s: half the size, twice as dingy. There is an upstairs, though whether or not they open it may depend on the phases of the moon, I don’t know. The pricing is cheap for the most part. Drinks offers exist on evenings when it undergoes the dark transformation from pub to dance den, so it captures the student market well, but perpetually plays second fiddle to its not-so-distant cousin. Of course, since it is smaller, it will get just as crammed full of the down and desperate on typical nights such as Tuesdays. Whether to venture inside or not is a decision mainly dependent on your love of a typical student dive. If you like cheesy music played loud and fast then jump in, if you want something a little more original then you’ll have to look elsewhere. If you want to get so drunk you can’t see then I imagine you’re already queueing up.
