I dined here a few week ago with a several members of my family. There was six of us all in all. My pizza, which was on the seasonal menu consisted of meatballs, mascapone and rocket! This tasted as good as it sounds. juice thin base and a large size too. My aunt had the four seasons pizza which was the same base and size as mine which she thoroughly enjoyed. Unfortunately my mum didnt have quite the same experience. She ordered a simple margarita which was alot smaller, I know different pizzas are on different bases though. Her base was thicker than mine but not a deep pan. When chopped into it leaked tomato juices everywhere making the base very soggy. It didn’t look good. Service was also poor. It was not busy either so no excuse for slow service, the waiter was also very abrupt. They do accept tastecard though.

This is the first time I have ever visited the Didsbury branch, which is fairly strange as it is right on my doorstep. The restaurant is much larger than it looks from outside and as the ceilings are really high and there’s windows across the front the whole place is very airy and light. I enjoyed the fact that there is an open kitchen so you can watch as your pizza is prepared, plus the restuarant always smells great. There’s so much choice on the menu, and lots of new items have been added recently as well. As I am on a healthy eating spree at the moment I was very happy to see that they have a good choice of less than 500 calorie meals. There’s always discount codes for Pizza Express flying around the World Wide Web so it’s easy to get yourself 33% off your bill — thats’s what we did last night. The prices aren’t even that steep so it seemed like a bargain after the discount. All off the staff were happy and friendly and they didn’t continuously ask if we wanted more drinks or pester us like some serving staff do, which we found lovely as we were deep in conversation and didn’t want to be repeatedly interuppted. Downpoint: I’d definitely say that the toilets need some work, with the walls and the floor are tiled in a cream colour, which shows all of the dirt, so the ladies certianly did not look spotless.

Always great, tasty food but have to agree, the(lack of) service usually let’s the place down.

We did have to wait a while to be seated and it would have been nice to be at least acknowledged or even offered a menu by one of the very flustered looking waiting staff during that time. Having said that, once someone did have time to come over to us the service was very friendly and the food was great. I would recomend the tricolore salad if only for the amazing guacamole. The price was also very reasonable if compared to Pizza Hut or Dominos, considering the vastly superior quality of the food. If I’m nit-picking I’d say the place could do with a more welcoming waiting area or a few more hosting staff on a Friday night, but over all a very enjoyable experience.

No need to say much more about Pizza Express, we all know it as well as we do McDonalds. For that reason I would like to confine my words to this specific one, rather than comparing it to other restaurants, which you can do for yourselves, or telling you what’s on the menu, which you already know. This is my least favorite Pizza Express in Manchester. Its all big and impersonal and its got no exciting staircases or views of the kitchen. The two in Manchester town centre, near St Peters Square and just off Deansgate(not the horrible Triangle one) are miles nicer. They’re smaller and have a more random organization of balconies, different levels and staircases. This one is a large boring uniform room, which gets too loud and you can see too many people at once. Headache. It’s the school canteen of Pizza Expresses, go to another one. Please Note: due to the fact that we all know what Pizza Express is like, my star rating is based on an inter-pizza express scale, meaning that 5 would be the best Pizza Express and 1 the worst.

Great food but v poor service when busy. When you arrive you will be left standing bang in the middle of the two halves of the restaurant and you will be ignored by countless waiters unless you demand attention. V slow food but consistently excellent. Why do I go back? Must be the grub.

There is one rule when it comes to Pizza Express — only go when you’ve got a voucher. At the moment they are offering half price pizzas, but at the time when I went to this particular branch of Pizza Express for a friend’s birthday the current offer was buy one get one free. Being a thrifty bunch everyone had printed out a few so there were more than plenty to go around our group of 12 or so. Back to that in a minute. I agree with Sarah-Jane that food should be savoured, but it actually took a good hour and a half in this restaurant to get my main course, which was really taking the pizz. Fair enough, certain members of our group chose starters, but they’d polished them off within 10 minutes of receiving them. An hour and half later and we were almost ready to pay. That’s 3 hours in total. I’ve had a decent three course meal in less time than that. The service was painfully slow, and whilst I agree with Sarah-Jane that the features of the old post office building were a pleasant distraction, they were not enough to hold my attention for more than a few minutes. Pizza Express? More like Pizza Slow as a Snail. Everybody had calculated how much they’d need to pay using the BOGOF vouchers by pairing up with the person next to them, and had their money ready. However, the staff did not give us the choice to pay separately and automatically issued us all a bill which came to around £20 more than we were expecting, due to the fact that they had discounted the 6 cheapest pizzas. Cue much embarrassed fumbling for pound coins to add to the pile of change. However, this experience has not put me off going to other Pizza Express restaurants as the food is consistently good and they keep on sending me tempting emails with irresistible offers, damn them. And on a positive note, they did provide us with a knife to cut the cake we had brought and means to light the birthday boy’s candles.

Patience is a virtue. The location of this particular Pizza Express — on Lapwing Lane in West Disbury — means it can get extremely busy at weekends. The fact there’s three seperate dining areas also means you can sometimes go five or ten minutes without seeing so much as a glimpse of your waiter or waitress! If you’re the impatience type, I suggest you go somewhere else or even better, learn to kick back and R*E*L*A*X? After all, food should be savoured and appreciated rather than wolfed down. And believe me, the food at Pizza Express is usually darn good. There’s lasagne classica, cannelloni, pollo pesto, melanzane parmigiana, multitudes of salads and side-dishes and a tantalising assortment of pizzas. Regulars usually opt for one of the Classics like American Hot or Fiorentina but there’s also Romana pizzas with a super-thin base or Leggera pizzas which are all around 500 calories and include a salad in the middle instead of dough. Even better, this branch is located in an old post office building and retains some of the original features — which should provide a pleasant distraction whilst you’re waiting for your waitress to bring your coffee and gelato!

Lovely restaurant with friendly, helpful staff. It has a great atmosphere & is great being able to see them make the pizza’s. I sometimes find the restaurant a bit cold but one the whole it’s fine. We just asked to move to a different area of the restaurant. It’s a great place to go if there’s a lot of you as well as there is so much space & they can easily fit tables together to create a large dining area for you. The pizza’s are gorgeous & we always have to get the garlic dough balls which are delicious! The kids like it to & the staff are great with the kids. They offer a good choice.

Lovely food in great surroundings — I adore the salads and the children love their child options — especially the babyccino that is the surprise ending! Always delicious, a reliable, family friendly restaurant and fantastic salad dressing! They are now automatically putting this on the side as well which is great. Good, friendly service!

I love Pizza express so sometime on a weekend I go over to Didsbury and order one. At the moment you can pay with your tesco club card points so that makes it even cheaper. In case you have never been to Pizza express before they make the best Pizzas in the works(in my opinion). I have only ever ordered from here and then gone to pick it up and drive home. The Pizzas are quite expensive compared to a regular pizza joint but the quality really is much better. If you order they normally say come and pick it up in 3 minutes and it is always ready. If you are going to the one in Didsbury I recommend the meat feast, its great

This restaurant is great and the food tastes really nice. There is always a really warm and welcoming atmosphere and you can see your food being cooked in front of you which adds to the experience. Pizza express do a wide range of pizza and pasta dishes to suit everyone.

Can’t go wrong really can you. If you’ve tried their supermarket versions then do treat yourself to one fresh from their own ovens. Great cllassic menu, lovely relaxed atmosphere, kids love watching their pizza being created and cooked in the open plan kitchens and everything tastes as you’d expect.
