Nike! Whatever any sport store does, it can never match Nike’s charisma! This Nike is rather small compared to the Nike on Market Street and when you enter, you do wish you had just gone into the other one and maybe you would have found better things. But you would be proved wrong! However small this looks, surprisingly it has everything you would want a Nike to have. Any sport demand to fill or just dress yourself up, it would fit your needs nonetheless. You’re happy, Nike is happy.

Just. Do. It. Separately, those three words don’t have that much power or poetry. Strung together however, they have made Nike millions of dollars and inspired countless kids across the globe to pull on a pair of sneakers and Get. Super. Fit. This store is a broom cupboard compared to both the Market Street store and Nike’s Oxford Circus store. It does however, have everything you’ll need to shoot hoops, run marathons or cycle from one end of the UK to the other. If you’re contemplating the latter there’s two other things you might need: Stamina and a high pain threshold!

Whether you pronounce it with an American style ‘eeee’ or keep the last letter silent like a good Englishman should, you can’t really argue much of a case against Nike. Plying its trade all over the world, with endorsements from sporting global icons and branding success matched only by McDonalds it’s a company that has done rather well for itself. Though a premier brand, Nike has not gone down the ‘designer retro-wear’ route quite as much as companies like Adidas, Puma and Converse and as such this Market St outlet is still very much a sports and active-wear store– and just so nobody forgets, images of Wayne Rooney smashing a football to pieces are plastered all over the shop. That said, this is a very nice, very glossy store and the goods on sale have that glowing aura of expense about them. Though of little use to me today, I never had anything like these upmarket, specific sports brand stores when I was a kid(much to my mum’s relief no doubt) but if I did I would have loved them. Trainers were already aspirational items back then but I suspect that glitz filled stores like the Nike store have taken that to new levels these days. A fantastic shop but with prices to match– not a place for footballers with feet yet to grow if you want value for your investment.

If your nickname is Sporty Spice you will love this shop! The perfect place to get sporting clothes, from the sports casual items of clothing, hoodies, t shirts, tracksuits to the more sporting clothes such as fitness wear– leotards etc. Also trainers of all kinds along with running shoes. The Nike shop usually has a few exclusives too, which are only available in the actual store.
