M&S is always my stop before getting on a train. With an hour to spare before a trip to Cheadle Hulme the other day I knew I could waste that time sat outsite this M&S with a lovely lunch. Well sized for a train station stop, this M&S stocks a wide range of lunch choices and main meals, perfect for when you’ve run a bit late but promised to cook dinner. M&S has always been a top choice for me because they have a great selection of non-mayo choices(I HATE mayo, and I hate places that put mayo on everything, even if it has another sauce already in it.) My favourites here are the deep filled flatbreads with chicken and pesto and the pasta salad with pine nuts and goats cheese. Drool. Although I’m sure they aren’t, everything from M&S feels super healthy and like you’re doing something good with your life. Although this can add up to a pricey lunch, I usually treat myself so I know I wont stumble across anything I don’t like mid-bite and I know I’ve had at least one of my five a day. The only downfall? I can’t see any mini-forks anywhere! How can I eat my salad on the go without a fork? If they stocked forks(or, if they do, if they stocked forks in a more obvious place…) this would be a five star. And they wouldn’t just be forks, they’d be M&S forks.

I love Marks and Spencers food. I know the adverts are complete food porn and I totally buy into it. I’m an idiot, I know. But I have literally never tasted anything from M&S that I didn’t like, from the minced meat pies and spaghetti carbonara ready meals I sometimes munched as a kid to the falafel, houmous and party food that I’m addicted to now. And what better to have a standalone store that doesn’t complicate the experience with clothes and bath pearls? One of the best things to look out for at any M&S food outlet is the weekend offer, whether it’s a gourmet £20 Valentine’s meal for two or a slightly easier-on-the-wallet £10 dine-in deal. It’s also fabulous for on-the-go food like sandwiches, wraps, salads, smoothies and juices as well as the most amazing caramelised cashews you’ll ever taste. Seriously, you might as well add several inches to your thighs as soon as you’ve tasted just one. Just make sure you eat everything in slow motion to sexy music, especially those melting chocolate fondant puddings…
