Edwards is a place that always confuses me. The signage, for example, has ED in red, and WARDS in white(or vice versa) so I’m never certain if it’s called Ed Wards, or Edwards. Not that it really matters. There’s one thing I am certain of, though, and that is this; this place is scummy. Not scummy like I like, like Big Hands or OGs. Scummy like girls with tramp stamps, squeezed into too-tight synthetic fabrics, being leched on by pervy blokes in stripy shirts and too much aftershave. Scummy like getting your arse grabbed while standing at the bar, and then being called a «f**kin prude c**t» for telling the arse-grabber to «kindly piss off». Scummy like listening to three girls rammed into one cublicle alternately snorting coke off the bog seat and talking about who they’re going to «let» shag them tonight. That kind of scummy. Like Sodom and Gomorrah for skanks and chavs and 40-something blokes who take off their wedding rings of a Friday and try to score a knee-trembler with aforementioned skank. Oh, and comments about«foreigners» on a forum I read in the course of research would suggest that a large portion of their client base is insanely racist. I know it sounds snobby, but it’s true. Edwards is a real hole. If you want a true representation of its clientele and, erm, level, then this comment off a forum might be of some help: «EDWARDZISTOP, LOVESHAKINMATINGSWILEAMINDER. LOVE D BOUNCERS D DABOMB.» Well, quite, we all like to, erm, «shake» our«tings» every now and then. If you’re about to go into Edwards, turn around and leave. I wasted four solid hours here awhile back(work do, more like work oh-no-please-don’t) and honestly still feel cheated. There are far, far better places to go. Hell, I’d even suggest the Blue Parrot as an alternative. It is THAT bad here. If I could give it 0 stars, I really would.

Edwards is not my favourite place in town. But I can see why some people love it! There’s not many places that have RnB nights anymore in Manchester but Edwards play it every Friday and Saturday along with drum n bass. It’s not my cup of tea but I’ve told people about it before and they’ve always told me how good it was afterwards. The decoration is pretty generic but that doesn’t really add or take anything away from it. The drinks are cheap too if you go for the promotional offers.

I’ve had some really good nights here at the weekend! They play r’n’b sort of stuff, good atmosphere, 4 shots for a fiver and you can dance away, forgetting all of your inhibitions. I recommend(:

Just for the fun of it I’m going to attempt to write my review of Edwards without once being negative. Edward is a classic and typically upper classed man’s name. Edwards has got seats, toilets that flush almost every time, customers that– every now and then –get so drunk that they forget to be needlessly violent. Edwards is decorated in a manner that somebody somewhere might appreciate or even love. The generic and average pop music perfect if you are generic and average– and fantastically for bars such as this, lots of people are. Edwards has a big screen for sporting events– which don’t always attract trouble. If you go to Edwards, you will probably leave relatively unharmed and a little wiser for the experience. Wisdom is a good thing to have.
