Ed’s was nice enough when I went, it’s all very cookie cutter in design, I know, but I love the style so much that it didn’t bother me. The drawback of this ed’d is location, I could never escape the feeling that I was in a shop and therefor couldn’t settle into it enough. The food was ok and the milkshake was superb so it balances out nicely. Food is a tad high priced for what it is and the quality of it and although most of the staff staff seemed friendly, there was a couple of folk that just couldn’t be bothered and I was unlucky enough to be on one of their tables so it did sour my experience somewhat… I won’t recommend Eds as a go to’ as there are better places in this mound in the city with similar price margins and better atmospheres, but if you are in Debenhams and hungry, I wouldn’t discount it.

This is our new favourite place to eat. Went with my lovely pink-haired daughter and granddaughter for lunch last Saturday. What an excellent start to what continued to be a fun, relaxing day in Manchester. Atmosphere, music, energy and friendly efficiency were so refreshing. The menu, and separate gluten-free menu, the freshness and flavour of our individual food choices, were faultless. Even simple fries and sweet potato fries were so NOT greasy, that I was able to take out what we couldn’t eat, for a snack on the train, much later(it’s a generational thing)! Anyway, it’s not for anyone looking for a cheap lunch, so we are planning our next meal at Ed’s around a birthday and return visit, to the Build-a-Bear Workshop. Well done all at Ed’s, thank you.

Ed’s Easy Diner is one of the newest restaurants in Manchester, opened recently in Debenhams on Market Street. Ed’s is an american style diner, this branch is relatively small, although is still a decent size, especially considering it is located in a Debenhams. Ed’s have a good gluten free menu, with burgers and hot dogs on the menu, however the food I tasted, seemed to taste cheap and definitely not worth the price charged, which could include up to £4 just for a special type of fries. Ed’s are trying to be an american diner sort of place, with the loud music and seating, but it seems to have done a bad job at it, simply coming off as a cheap, low quality place. I ordered a GF hotdog with sauce on the side, the presentation was good for a place like this, but still the quality was poor, the hot dog its-self wasn’t very nice and was very poor quality sausage, even for gluten free. The sauces were branded so I can’t really comment on them. The bun its-self was okay but still considering the sausage was poor quality and cheap tasting, that let it down — dramatically. The«fries» here are gluten free, I stuck to the plan fries, they tasted okay when seasoning was added, and were probably the best part of my meal, but still the fries on the menu are confusing, with many different varieties with no full explanation of what they are, and for a side costing between around £2 and £4, it is far too expensive in my opinion. The location is good in central Manchester, but still I can’t help but think the vibe would be a lot better and it would be a nicer place, if it was its own separate store rather than a place in Debenhams, being located here also means the opening hours have to be reviewed, meaning it can only open when Debenhams is open, which means shutting very early on a Sunday at 5:30, when many other restaurants are still open, and it makes it worse that they don’t take orders 45 minutes before closure, and then you are basically turned away. Even adding their own enterance, seperated from the rest of the store would be better. The loyalty scheme here seems good, you get £5 just for signing up and I think 10 percent of your bill added back on your card, as well as a free burger when buying a drink on your second visit, and a free milkshake on your birthday, and it can all be done on their app, to save you having to carry lots of old-fashioned cards! I have been to Ed’s before in Liverpool and it has simply been average, in my opinion they still have a lot of things to sort out, and even though the staff and the loyalty scheme are great, this is a poor branch.
