So it’s lunchtime and you want to grab something that’s quick, but quick does not mean fried burgers with Burger King or McD’s or just leafy salad nor does it mean the over-priced Pizza Express. Then why not try Eat. This place is sandwiches galore, tasty lunch salads, fresh baguettes and drinks. It is very reasonably prices and it is apparently very quick. The only complain I would have with this Eat. is the long queue you have to tackle with during lunch and you’re actually looking for quick and fast. Say the queue never existed, then this is definitely the ultimately the hot spot for a quick lunch but a healthy and delicious mid-day meal!

Catering to the lunchtime crowd can be difficult because they often demand the seemingly impossible task of tasty food, low prices and quick service. Hot food often means trundling to McDonald’s with all the mediocrity that implies, but cold food is where it’s at. Eat is well-priced, tasty, and since you’re just picking stuff to be put together right before your eyes, bloody quick. Certainly one to consider in the short while you may have.

Every lunch time this place draws in more business types them most of the food spots on brazenose street and that says a lot. Serving a huge variety of luncheon type grub from pies to sandwiches and everywhere in between(including noodles). Eat prides itself on real food, this means minus the limp and lifeless models that appear on the shelves of greggs and what have you. Its all fresh and filling and proper(for want of a better word). But all this comes at a premium, over £5 for a sandwich and drink could potentially make you want to hurl your laptop/monitor across the room in a fit of rage, chillax a second. It is good quality for the money, you should only go there once or twice a week and only when you feel you deserve it. What should you get? Chicken pot pie or if your after something a little cooler the crayfish and lime sandwich.

Seemingly here to challenge Pret a Manger’s hold over the fancy sandwich market, Eat’s idea of competition appears to be offering almost exactly the same kind of products, but just with slightly less of a selection. Still, it’s a good sandwich shop, with sandwiches that are freshly prepared on site and don’t look like they’ve been sitting in a sweaty van for hours before they’ve reached the shelf. If you’re feeling thrifty like I often do, then the egg cress at £1.50 is really reasonable, whilst the £3 I’ve spent once or twice on the thai citrus chicken sandwich is certainly worthwhile. To add to your sandwich, you can choose a variety of fancy crisps and classy, foreign-looking cans of lemonade. Eat offers lunch for a under a fiver and if you add the fact that it’s all quite tasty into the bargain, it beats Boots for a quick lunch for sure.
