Donut Dreams is a rival to the more famous and much talked about Krispy Kremes, now firmly established in Manchester. To be fair, they’ve given it a good go, but there just isn’t a way to compete with Krispy Kremes is there? Theres just something about it, some secret ingredient, that makes their doughnuts irresistible. It’s a bit like Hienz ketchup, that kind of thing. There’s just no imitating it. Donut Dreams do actually sell the kind of doughnuts you are likely to dream about. They’re all so brightly coloured with different colourful toppings, as if they’ve been lifted straight from Homer. No, not the ancient Greek writer, but the character from The Simpsons. This maybe makes it a better place to treat kinds to a doughnut than is Krispy Kremes. The taste though, whilst not bad, just cannot compete. They have a slightly bready texture that Krispy Kremes manage to avoid, and with one five minutes down the road, Donut Dreams will have to accept three stars.
