Dixy Chicken

It’s not the best place to eat, but it’s open late and the chickens salty :)
The takeaway was clean and we were served promptly. I went for the chicken burger and a chicken and red onion pizza… chiiiiickeeeen… There isn’t a lot more to say. If you find yourself after a late night chicken fix in Chorlton I’d recommend. If the hour isn’t too late there are much quirkier and interesting places to be explored in little Chorlton for a cullinery delight.

When I’m drunk (and occassionally when I’m sober) Dixy Chicken is almost always a port of call on the way home. It’s greasy, it’s messy, we’re fairly sure that it is *actually* chicken– it’s Dixy Chicken.
While it is wellknown amongst dirty-​chicken-​lovers (that sounds saucier than I meant it to!) that KFC is the be-​all-​and-​end-​all of chicken, there is (inexplicably, still) no KFC in Fallowfield. In the absence of its glory, Dixy’s is normally fairly clean, the staff don’t try to shot change you or rip you off, and it does what it says on the tin.
I can’t give this place more than 3 stars– after all it is just a chicken coop… for dead, breaded, deep fried chicken. But the chicken there in my (ample) experience has always been well cooked, and tasty. And there’s somewhere to eat inside! And they don’t complain when I (on rare occassions) take my bicycle inside for a few minutes while I grab a bite to eat on the way home from work. (I work in a bar.)
Can’t rate the chips– but I am picky about chips.

This is the first Dixy Chicken I’ve seen in Manchester. Where I live in London Dixy is the main rival to KFC, and its commonly considered to be a close fought battle by the school population of Crouch End. Ah, the good old days.
Fried Chicken shops that are not KFC often make me feel (or actually be) really sick, and this one certainly does not. It may of course be a complete illusion, but I feel like KFC and here are much healthier fried chicken that elsewhere. I know that sounds like nonsense but one bite into their chicken compared to one of say, Chicken King, and I think you’ll know what I mean. Its as if the grease hasn’t quite run through the whole chuck of meat at comprehensively.
Lavish servings of mayo on the burgers too. As there’s no KF in Fallowfield, this is the best option.

Well, this is what I like, another fried chicken joint in my vicinity. Though, to be fair to Dixy Chicken, it does it well. I’ve been in a couple of times and it’s always been cooked well and with a slightly distinctive taste, which at least differentiates it from the countless other chicken joints in the area.
Obviously, if you don’t want chicken, don’t go in. That goes without saying reall
