I haven’t visited a proper barbers for more years than I care to remember so I was quite apprehensive stepping into the Crown Barbers for the first time. There was absolutely no need to be. It’s a little gem tucked away in a small arcade at the bottom of Deansgate, inside is simple with two chairs and two relaxed barbers manning one each. The décor(if you’re bothered) is great, a small room with a wooden floor, high ceiling and a couple of waiting benches, the walls have a fair few cabinets filled with all sorts of hair chopping stuff from over the years. Nice setup. Anyways, it was my turn. They’re clearly a set of experienced barbers and the cut was swift to say the least. I’ve read other reviews about the time taken but I can assure you as a previous regular salon user they’re quick. Pleased with the modest cost of £13.50 felt like I’d robbed them. I’d say I’ll be visiting ‘regular way’ Good work.

Crown Barbers has become my go-to place to get my hair cut in the city centre. It’s a lovely little old school place with super high ceilings and dark wood units, whenever I’ve been there’s 2 gents that cut hair very methodically, precisely and with minimum fuss. The precision does mean that it’ll take a good while to get your hair cut, so do factor that in — I’d always prefer to take a bit longer than have a shoddy ‘do though. There’s always BBC6 Music playing at an appreciated level, good choice on the music gents! Prices are very reasonable(£13.50 for a standard cut at time of writing) and there’s no unnecessary chit chat, something I really like — it’s probably the thing that keeps most men from getting their hair cut regularly!

Ignore the previous review. This is a traditional barbers with lots of character. There is a great deal of attention to detail and the haircutting is of a high standard. The waiting time varies during the day but the care taken by the cutters is obvious and somewhat reassuring.

A Small Barbers located in the same arcade as the Spanish institue at the bottom end of Deansgate which my Other Half used Regualry for a few years. Close to Castlefield and a 5 minute walk from Deansgate train station. But it is Hard to Find, hidden away in the little Arcade. There is a Board on the Pavement outside on Deansgate Telling you its This way. But Be Warned you Can wait over 30 minutes and more Sometimes as they can be very slow at cutting your hair. There is Usally a Radio on in the Background and a few Magazines to Read while you wait. There can be up to 3 Staff on most of the Time But this has to Be one of the Most Expensive Barbers in Manchester costing around £12 a Head, but they do cut your Eyebrows for Free.
