The food was delightful and tasty. The waitstaff was incredibly friendly and jovial. The restaurant ran out of an ingredient for one of the entrees. They offered to substitute it and then charged us for the substitution. Just as a warning, if they ask, «do you want ____with that?» then you will be charged for it. Maybe this is a cultural difference.

Made a special trip to Café Rouge in Lowry Centre. It was very quiet at early Friday evening. The speed of service and the friendly staff was great. As I prefer seafood dishes, I chose Bouillabaisse as a main which was not on meal deal. It looked tempting as it was served in a small casserole dish with 2 pieces of golden baguette aside, but the quantity of dish was rather small. For a seafood lover, it was just a nibble for me. The dish was for £14, I thought it was well over charged for the quantity of food. Expect this, everything was great.

Café Rouge Lowry shopping mall One Sunday morning we decided to go to Media City and the Lowry shopping mall for coffee. We opted to go in Café Rouge and had a coffee and croissant for £2.99. This is a fantastic offer. Staff was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Will definitely be going back to try some of the other things on the menu.

Great find while on a shoot at MediaCityUK in Salford, this example of the Café Rouge franchise is a glowing one. The menu has enough choices for fussy types, and this particular restaurant has the added benefit of kind, friendly staff and someone in the kitchen who knows how to make a) dauphinoise potatoes and b) dessert. 2 courses were enough to satisfy a ravenous film crew who ate well after a day of heavy lifting. I’d happily recommend to those passing through MediaCity UK who want a nice filling meal in a relaxed environment. Note for the indecisive: As at July 2011, as well as a mini-plate menu where you can order small plates tapas style, there’s also a dessert selection for around 7 quid where you get 3(3!!) mini desserts.

Went here for our semi-versary with my wife. Had my eye on the Ribeye on the menu for a good week. 10 mins after being seated at a rocky table the waiter informs us that the Ribeye is not available tonight(it was 6 pm restaurant not crowded). He reccomends the Sirloin and ask how I like my steak cooked, I reply Medium, three times to him, after he claims you can’t have there Sirloin Rouge medium because it is «Chewy» Then when he comes back to take our order actually asks me if I am feeling brave tonight. I told him a fourth time Medium medium. Needless to say my steak was near rare and guess what, yep you guessed it, CHEWY. By midnight my stomach was aching, in the morning I had diarrhea. I will never go to this Restaurant again nor will I recommend it. I will give it 1 star based on the fact that my wife had a good meal.

I generally hate chains, even if they do hide under a semi — pretentious guise of being French. They are after all just another Pizza Express or Bella Italia of this world, the middle class benchmark of eateries. Ah the bourgeoisie would be proud! After a shopping mission at the Quays I would be happy eating out of a dustbin if it had a near by seat and would distract my mother from her favourite topic of conversation of, ‘don’t you really think you should dress a bit smarter now you’re getting older Neil’ for just 5 minutes. Café Rouge is therefore fine, for a quick meal and nothing fancy. The interiors are the same wherever you go, the service the same smiley students wherever you go, and the food the same as every other Café Rouge which is taking over the country. see where I’m going with this? There’s nothing bad, yet nothing particularly good about this branch and it is a step up from a Maccy D’s at least.

Decent restaurant with genuine French cuisine. The waiter went out of his way to help us, was extremely pleasant, chatty, polite and made our visit very enjoyable. Don’t expect the staff to speak French(the sign on the door said Fermé, which confused us at first, then we went in and informed them, and they said they don’t speak French so they didn’t know what that meant, but afterwards they changed it to Ouvert! Not budget but certainly decent value for the high quality of the food. Starters about £5, main courses roughly £10. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. Great location by the Lowry Outlet Mall, right outside the Lowry Theatre and 5 minutes from Old Trafford.

This is quite a nice Café Rouge as they go and you can be seated outside or inside most days. The have a nice selection of brunch type meals and some nice wine. The menu can become quite boring if you are a regular however I like the staff and the french feel of the place. Its good that this chain has lasted all these years with all the competition.
