I have had the unfortunate luck of eating from Bento King several times. That is if you can call it eating and if you can call it food. Each time that I indulge in a Bento King meal I hope that it will be my last. But because I have never been a lucky person, upon occasion my comrades order food (if you can call it that) from this dreadful place. Now, James Martin in the AMC it is not, and nor do I compare it to such other more, shall we say, grander establishments. It’s only saving grace is that it is on par with many other sub par Chinese takeaways. But this is hardly Chinese food. Cheaply made, fried rice/​chow mein dishes with few vegetables. The affair is salty and sweet with no depth or satisfaction, like a one night stand that has gone terribly wrong.

If you like your Chinese takeaway basically to taste like 90% sugar but somehow still be edible, this is the place for you. Prompt delivery and decently priced, it’s definitely not a destination restaurant but good for those in the Hulme area.
