There are so many bars on Wilbraham Road which makes it hard to choose between them. What sets one apart from the other? Chorltonians are spoilt for choice, how on earth do they decide where to drink? It has all the hallmarks of a potentially good bar. There’s outdoor seating where you can watch the lovely leafy bustle of Chorlton whisk by, it welcomes kids and families, and it serves honest grub. Now I’ve never sampled it myself but a friend of mine reported a horrendous food-based experience with the likes of ‘undercooked’ and ‘unseasoned’ peppering the conversation so bear that in mind. I’ve always been a fan of sister bar Revise, and Bar 4 Eighty follows suit with its real ales and bohemian atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and what it may lack in food quality, it makes up for in service and ambience. Worth a stop-in on Wilbraham Road.

I used to go to Bar 480 pretty often to drink but only really because my friend worked there and I realised I would rather stay in than go here! Its pretty rough here at the weekend and dead all the rest of the time. The best thinga bout this bar is Somerfield is across the road! This would be one of the last places I would recommend in Chorlton.

Bar 480 was a bar I went to a few times when I first moved to Chorlton, until I realised there were better bars nearby. It doesn’t really have any character to it, the only thing of note is the large collection of Action Men and other assorted trinkets in a large glass-fronted cabinet opposite the bar. Bar prices are a little above average, the music choice can vary wildly depending on which barperson’s iPod has been plugged in behind the bar, once got treated to an hour’s worth of Erasure’s Greatest Hits album(note strategically placed quotation marks) Toilets aren’t particularly clean and the beer garden out front has a slightly threatening atmosphere to it, if I were you I’d pass on this one and try somewhere further down the road
