Well this is a very special Gem in the heart of Didsbury village. Run by father and son from Nantwich they opened this place about three years ago. Serving British wine coffee ad home made cakes. They have come a long way since then with open mike night in Tuesday. From 5.00pm each day you can have home made pie as mash They breakfast menu is extensive and delicious why not pop on for a sandwich and a cup Of one of their specialty teas at lunch time. Nothing is too much trouble for this father as son enterprise

Appleby’s is a lovely little café on Barlow Moor Road in Didsbury. The staff are friendly and attentive and we really enjoyed our visit there on Sunday. The café is small and I really like the wooden benches with cushions. We ordered the afternoon tea which was delicious. The egg and cream cheese and cucumber sandwiches were delicate and tasty. The cakes were massive, I particularly enjoyed the Victoria sandwich. We also got a homemade jam tart and the pastry was second to none. To top it all off the scones were massive and very good. They also came with ample whipped cream and strawberry jam. My only complaint was that we only got half a glass of prosecco, a full one would have been much more appreciated but that’s probably just me nit picking. Appleby’s is a good choice for lunch or breakfast.

Appleby’s is a great little hidden gem nestled just off the main drag of Didsbury village. We went for afternoon tea, which included a glass of bubbles, and as well as dainty little sandwiches, egg mayo and cucumber, included home made scones with jam and cream, a large wedge of chocolate fudge cake and Victoria sponge, jam tarts and a chocolate corn flake cake, which had been made with top notch chocolate. The service was very attentive and the treats, served up on a lovely cake stand were delish. If you have a sweet tooth, head off to Appleby’s and cake that and party!

I’ve been here a few times now for a late weekend breakfast and every time I’ve enjoyed it thoroughly. The staff are extremely friendly, I’ve seen the same young guy on shift every time I’ve been in and he makes you feel welcome every time, although I bit sorry for him having to be at work, early doors on the weekends. They have a good staple selection of traditional breakfasts, no fancy bagels or Benedict’s of any sort to be found, which is not a bad thing when they use quality local sourced ingredients. As Raam pointed out in his review they use meat from Axons of Didsbury which is only a few doors further down the road. The coffee is very good and warrants a second cup with your breakfast and they’ve even served my friend an ultra big size each time he’s asked even though it’s technically not on the menu to provide him with his caffeine fix. Although I’m not a tea drinker I have it on good authority the tea selection top notch and they provide you with all the sundries which appear necessary, a separate milk pot and extra hot water provided with your loose leaf tea. There are newspapers provided and free wi-fi for those more technological media addicts. They promote local artists work on the walls as well which is a nice touch and most of the work is for sale if anythnig takes your fancy. It’s something I’ve seen more and more in independent cafes and it’s a practice of which I thoroughly approve. The only criticism which is more about the location. The tables are on the small side and wouldn’t really accommodate a large group of people, this however adds to cosy café feel, as long as you a friendly enough with those you are eating with. It can however be a bit of a squeeze past if people are ordering or paying at the counter as you are trying to enter or leave. All in all a solid independent café just of the Didsbury high street, with great staff and a pleasant community feel.

We only live up the road and are usually looking out for new places to eat and drink. We were here for breakfast once before and my fiancée loved the earl grey they served here and according to her, it’s the best she’s ever had anywhere. The staff are very friendly and very very courteous. The ambience and atmosphere are very inviting and relaxing. Equally ideal for a kick-starting breakfast or winding down tea. The toasted fruit scone I had was divine and the accompaniments made it even more delectable. I also love the my cappuccino that I get in a proper tall and fat glass, which excites me as I am a big coffee lover. I was told the meat is sourced from Axons of Didsbury, a few doors down, which is great cos it’s local and if they run out, they just need to run out and get some more! They also stock bottles of locally brewed ales. I’ve been there a few times before and will do so again. I do hope that they continue to retain their exceptional quality in the days ahead. Thoroughly and wholeheartedly recommended!
