I was surprised that for Pub food it was very good. They used salt and everything. I had a hamburger. It was cook well. I would definitely go back there to eat if I were in Windsor.

Great outdoor patio space, friendly staff, and lively atmosphere. The Windsor Castle offers a variety of beers and liquors as well as a pretty extensive menu. I ordered the Windsor Classic Burger and my husband ordered the Fish & Chips. The burger was arguably the best burger I have ever had. My husband commented that his fish was the size of the whale and was tasty, however, got soggy toward the end of the meal. We will definitely be back!

We moved near the Windsor Castle 11 years ago and it was going down hill slowly then a really unfriendly landlord took over and we stopped going. Not long after it shut and we thought that was it and demolition was at hand. To our great surprise we saw it being done up and waited to see what transformation there could be, At first the menu was a little boring .Some montha later we noticed a changed menu and discovered that a new chef was in place. It was a few weeks after that we found out it was Mike who had been the fab chef at the now sorely missed Palm Court in King’s Street! We really like Misko who has made us so welcome from day one. Yes the portions are quite a size but you adjust your meal to suit. The take out fish and chips are now a weekly treat in this house! If you haven’t tried the Windsor Castle yet then get round there and see for yourself, Marvellous!

We tried the Windsor Castle for the first time last night and were very pleasantly surprised. A nice venue and well laid out. It was busy as it was a Saturday but we were able to walk in and get a table for 4 people. The staff were very good, and we ordered 10 mins before the kitchen closed which was no issue for them. We ordered a number of starters and mains all of which were huge, so probably next time I would stick just with a main dish. My wife and friend both ordere Lamb Shank from the specials board and they were the biggest we have seen anywhere and we work in a restaurant. I would say it was pretty good value as we paid £20 per head including our drinks so just about Pub grub prices. Will definitely be back and hope they carry on serving great food.

We have recently moved to within half a mile of this pub and eat out a lot. The venue was noisy and needs to decide what it is. We sat by a very loud speaker and a loud couple next to us were shouting at each other because of the general ambience and noise level. This was at 7pm on a saturday. We were overfaced with food. Although the fish was excellent we had enough food for 4 people not 2. Why do places do this. i want beautifully cooked food not a pile of food and this should be reflected in the price. If we knew that the mains were so huge, we would not have had starters and therefore not spent so much. The staff were pleasant. A decent place, too pricey and really aimed at 30ish/40ish people, which is a shame because they are cutting out other age markets. I feel that when you go out to eat part of the evening is about conversation and not being able to converse without shouting is unacceptable.

Went here recently with the family and was really impressed. We all had Fish and Chips and when it came out we were amazed, the fish was huge. Lovely chips, not those thin greasy ones you usually get. Service was great and the menu has plenty of choice. The only reason I’ve given it a 4 star instead of a 5 is because at £6.50 for a 250ml glass of wine I felt that was a bit steep(It was only a Pinot Rose nothing special!). Will definately go back though, but maybe stick to non-alcoholic drinks!

Slightly disappointed given the previous comments regarding the Windsor Castle. Having lived locally for many years and seen this pub go thru a number of owners I was pleased with the makeover and effect however I think it’s trying to be something its not. The food was ok although dessert looked like it had come straight out of a catering pack and I found the waitress quite surly; it was almost as if they were doing us a favour and heaven forbid, that as the customer, we should make a request for something! I also think it was quite expensive for what it was. I think my mistake was think of this as a restaurant when really its an up market pub with pretensions of being something better, go there with that in mind and you wont be disappointed but IU have been.

(Updated 31.08.2010) This pub is outside the town centre(walking distance) at the top of the hill that takes the Bath Road on to Reading. For years, it was a dreadful dump managed by who must have been one of the most ill-mannered landlords I have ever met. Grudgingly, one turned the other cheek, because there were some special people who used to congregate there. Eventually he left, the place was redecorated and turned into a sort of ‘cheap steak-house/bar’. It was reasonable value for money but fell into disrepair. I occasionally nipped in to see aforementioned special people(R.I.P. Rich) who had decided to stick with it, but otherwise it was still pretty much of a tip. Then something magic happened: it was boarded up, and some thought that this eyesore was going to be torn down. No way! Very simpatico landlord Misko appeared on the scene and set about starting one of the most substantial pub rebuilds I have seen(£ 300k, apparently). This guy seriously knows the business(Restaurant of the Year Award) and turned the place around completely. Everything from luxury toilets to an enlarged and completely new patio area; very tasteful interior decoration and even jazzy frosted glass windows with logo(so that your wife/boss can’t see where you are hiding. ;-)) Further insight about the quality of the establishment was provided when a very popular local rascal generously booked the whole place for the evening prior to emigrating to sunnier climes. There was a full buffet, so we had the chance to try a bit of everything and it was good, good, good! We have since eaten there on a very regular basis and have yet to be disappointed. The food is great, staff are charming and the prices are, I think, at the right level to reflect the value, while keeping the clientele at the level desired by the management and indeed the level desired by the clientele itself. Apart from hog roasts, wi-fi and a new wine list, Misko has a very good website, which is not full of bullshit, so I don’t have to type too much. Best of luck to him: I think he certainly deserves it. P. S. If you are looking for game machines, pool tables, loud music or widescreen TVs, then don’t bother, because they are not there!
