A boutique of the luxurious French fashion house. Zilli designs official and casual men’s clothes and leather goods of only the finest quality, targeting the very wealthy customers. The largely conservative, yet stylish and notable designs are reminiscent of Zegna that has its own shop across the street. However, unlike its competitor, Zilli is not as globally well known; probably because it aims to appeal exclusively towards the ultra rich. The prices are indeed quiet shocking, even to someone who is not a stranger to the world of upmarket fashion. I dropped by looking for a pair of leather shoes and was surprised to discover the price tags of over £2000 on most pairs. I’ve also seen items priced at as much as 18,000 Euros at Zilli’s Moscow store. Back then I was told that they never hold sales, but in 2009 the 50% off promotion was launched. I guess the recession hit their cutsomers after all. If you can afford such clothes, it may be worth to pay them a visit, as their items are of genuinely perfect quality and their refined design certainly allows one to stand out even from the crowd of the most successful people. However, the question is whether it’s worth it. You can purchase very similar items of comparably high quality from the nearby Zegna, Armani or Ferragamo. In my opinion, you may be overpaying for the brand with this one. I don’t see what is so exceptional about what they offer, comparing to other premium brands, to justify such high prices. For one who values quality and design in clothes, but not so much the opportunity to brag about how much one spends on it, there are certainly other options.
