Yumi carries a lovely selection of dresses and tops that are absolutely lovely! Their aesthetic is a bit of quirky — vintage inspired lolita perhaps? Little touches of lace and bows, everything is very pretty but their sizing is limited to S, M and L so anyone larger than an American size 12 is out of luck. They carry a wide array of accessories: jewelry, shoes, handbags and little knick-knacks for your home are scattered in between their clothing. The shop is small with 4 very narrow stairs linking up the platform-floors, but each little floor has it’s own theme and atmosphere. The fitting rooms are in the basement and can get quite stuffy. Keep an eye out for good sale items and bargains finds. I found an amazing coat marked down from £70 to £20 because a couple of buttons were missing. I would have gladly gone out and bought some new buttons but imagine my surprise to discover the buttons were in the pocket!

Lost in a sea of ho-hums and that’ll do’s, Yumi Clothing offers just that… the yummy. It was my first stroll along Portobello Market and I had been warned that some of the stores were kinda, meh, but as soon as I walked in here, I knew I had found a few new future members of my clothing family. A cute dress here, a fabulous shirt there and what was that? What was that glorious looking dark blue coat with the big bow on the front??? I rushed up the stairs, knocked a skinny bird out of the way and gunned it for the coat. What, they even have a large! Yes! I then dropped my purse, my jacket, my scarf and threw this beautiful coat on and crossed my fingers as I looked in the mirror. Would it fit? Would my bosom be held, but not squished. YES!!! A perfect fit!!! I then spotted an adorable pair of tights and rushed to the register, just in case the world was about to end and I would lose my chance at owning such a fabulous piece. A zip of the card, a sign on the line and out the door I went with a smile from ear to ear. Oh how I will enjoy this jacket!!! Thanks Yumi!

Yumi has to be one of my favourite shops in Notting Hill. They have such cute and feminine dresses and they are really on top of their fashion with the über short mini dresses selling to the likes of Sienna Miller and Kate Moss. This may make you think the prices will be extortionate but they’re pretty reasonable-you can buy a nice dress for anywhere between £35-£55. Some of the items you can find in other shops in the area which makes you think the clothes aren’t quite as unique as you would have first thought but they are really beautiful and they do also have a lot of stuff that you will only get from Yumi. My favourite things in the store are their furnishings, they have some really girly candle holders, picture frames and general ‘things’ to make your house look pretty. I love the flower fairy lights they have here and their window displays are usually pretty cool. The staff all fit in to the vibe of the place and they’re really friendly and chilled which makes for a great shopping experience.

I always pass this shop on the way to Portobello market and think that the window displays are really good. At the moment they include and up-side down mannequin wearing a dress and it looks cool. I was a little disappointed when I went in though because it essentially has the same stock as the street vendors in the market but you can try the own and it isn’t open to the elements. The clothes are nice though, despite being a fraction of the price 5 minutes away; lots of pretty cotton dresses with lace or embellishment detailing. The average price for a dress is about £50 though which is quite steep.

Yumi is a fantastic clothing brand which has a real eclectic collection of pieces. Very fashion forward, the clothes are unique and fun. The staff are friendly and dresses are definitely my favourite within the collection. The prices are around £45 for a dress and based on feminine yet creative styles. I love the 60’s era for fashion and Yumi definitely takes inspiration from that style. The prints are bold, colourful and striking and are made to suit every style and figure.
