Can’t explain in words this place needs to be seen, unbelievable range of products mainly organic and healthy goods but also wide range of grocer, nuts wines and spirits. Put it this way you could find more products in this place than the big supermarkets and much better products. Freshly baked croissant and a naked smoothie makes my day ;)

This place just looks like a normal, random off licence but when you step inside, you’ll be surprised by the variety and diversity of products they have! You can find almost everything in there, from bubble gum to grains, dried fruits, fresh fruits(very good selection), alcohol… Almost everything except fresh fish and meat. It is not the cheapest place to do your shopping, but for the quality they offer, it is quite fair. And the people that works there is always helpful and polite.

Right around the corner from where we live, this is one of my favourite shops in London… near or far. This is THE place to go for grains(multiple types of flour, quinoa, couscous, polenta, pasta, etc). They have a really nice selection of produce outside, which includes the typical carrots, cucumbers, corgettes, lemons, limes, potatoes and onions. They also sell fresh chilis of multiple varieties, pomegranates, plantains, fresh herbs and cauliflower. They have a nice selection of beers, wines, liquors and fruit juices. They have things you might need to pick-up(ie toilet paper, sewing necessities, paper towels, cleaning products, shampoo, conditioner and plastic wrap), but it’s best for the more obscure things you can’t find elsewhere. I am making a butternut squash soup with chili and coconut milk for dinner, and they had the rapeseed oil, limes, butternut squash, thyme, coriander, coarse salt, coconut milk and even the fresh bread to put on the table with it. Delightful. So thrilled to have found this shop and that it is so nearby. Though there is a Tesco right outside of my building, I will often go here instead.

Such a superior corner food shop. Thanks to Rob H & Katie B for reporting the findings… from the outside, this appears just to be a regular, run of the mill market… but once inside you’ll be treated to a pleasant surprise. A huge organic selection. A whole shelf of tea. Racks of dried fruits(I am not addicted to dried figs), nuts(cashews!) and I even found jars of sunflower butter here… which is surprisingly good and a good alternative to peanut butter(which they also have). Fantastic ethnic cooking section chock full of sauces, ingredients, grains, rices, beans and any element you probably need, spices, decent bakery with breads, rolls, pitas, etc. Eggs and dairy, beer, wine, a lot of coconut water, and a fresh produce section(outside) which is standard, but nice to have. Things you won’t find: fresh meats or fish. Par for the course! The family that runs it is very friendly as well(always so polite!) and I always leave feeling quite good about supporting a local food shop that is not only convenient, but tucked away from the madness of the Old Street roundabout. Yours Food Centre = My Food Centre = LOVE. *they do not accept AMEX.

What Rob H. said. But really, this is the most random off license ever. If you need something, they probably have it. I have lived by this place for nearly two years now, and I had been in, but hadn’t really properly explored it until recently. They have some inexpensive tropical produce outside, coriander, parsley, dill, most of the basics… then inside you can get your coke, loo roll, cheap beer, and the usuals… but you can ALSO get Organic polenta, gluten-free pastas, Biona organic tinned products, a wide variety of beans and lentils, Eco-friendly cleaning products, whole wheat bread products from a variety of cultures, coconut milk and other Asian staples… take that Waitrose! If they had meat(they have some curred meats), I could basically shop here and not at a normal grocery store! At least for pantry items, I really don’t need to walk any further. Especially since it is open 24 hours.

«Excuse me sir, where might I find a can of your finest Diamond White?» «Oh, it’s just in the cabinet behind the shelf with the Biona tinned produce.» Holy shit, this is the best off-licence ever — I’ve never seen anything quite like it. Equipped with a very well stocked greengrocery section outside(including some colossal watermelons, next to the dill), as you walk into the main shop, a cursory look at the stack of coconut water to your left, you realise that this is no ordinary offy(and it’s not M&S either). The cereals sum up stuff quite nicely — the standard dodgy offy brand cornflakes(Best-In) are on the shelves next to the supermarket range of Kelloggs stuff… but if you track a bit further back, you’ll find a sizeable section of shelf space set aside for Dorset Cereals. Yep, they also stock a lot of Biona(next to the Best-In tinned tomatoes, naturally). Oh, and directly opposite the white cider shelf is a section of foodstuffs such as organic cous-cous, bulghur wheat, maize etc… and a bit further over, there’s also a decent range of Yuppie-brand cleaning products. It’s not a small shop. Having discovered this place(which, I gather is open 24 hours, but don’t hold me to that), all I want to do is run around town burning down Tesco/Sainsbury Metros which are, quite frankly, some of the most pointless wastes of shop space on the face of the planet. I mean, in an emergency, has anyone actually ever found what they wanted in one? All I’mma say is that Best City Food Centre is what a convenience store looks like, and Tesco can bloody well [rant censored by moderator].
