A real shame. This is a great sports pub but the bar staff leave a lot to be desired. Drinks prices seem to alternate and be decided on an ad hoc basis, with flat pints, charging for no cordial served in a soda and cordial, failure to serve people waiting(chatting clearly more important!) and a serious lack of customer service ended up marring a pleasant afternoon. The staff used to be fantastic, but training has apparently been foregone in recent months. Used to be one the best pubs around for football and rugby, but now this is the only redeeming feature and seems to be their excuse for a complete lack of service.

Great vibes in this Stokey haunt, and awesome food too! Loved the Asian squid salad and their paprika hummous and their mulled wine is bangin’.

Really enjoyed this place even if we did stay for one pint. My group and I agreed that this could be an all night spot complete with games, TV’s for matches, an outdoor patio, and pretty good looking and smelling food. The décor was awesome and random mismatched tables and chairs with a rustic overall feel. The pint glasses we were served were solid standard glass, not the one that goes together with the beer or brewery. Hipster but still pretty main stream. We had a few more places to go so we couldn’t stay, but I imagine there will be a second, longer trip back soon!

On a winter’s day, travelling far from home I came across this spot of local colour, close enough to the Police station as to make the hipsters feel safe, but yet far enough away to allow for some discussions to take place about the relative merits of your football team. The White Hart is a mixed place, unable to decide exactly what sort of pub it wants to be it bravely hangs on the odd items on the edge of interior fashions. Unsure of style it gathers groups of hipsters, the literati and jocks in a semi-comforting area for each of them. When the staff manage to wake from their navel contemplation they can be some of the best in the business, the traditional pub grub they serve is well worth the price, and they will punish the hipsters they serve in a lackadaisical manner by making them write lines on the blackboard for taking photos of their food. The beer garden is truly a garden of delights, from the BBQ pit to the worst-kept-secret garden beyond the patio which opens up in a surprising manner. Upstairs there is a room, too hot in summer, too cold in winter, and rarely used in-between, for events, such as the occasional comedy night(where I first saw and fell in love with Josie Long) or for beer tasting. In short, or long, the White Hart is a place you can go to do anything you’d normally do in a pub. Don’t let the décor get to you.

We called in on a Friday night so inevitably the place was pretty packed. Large pub with central island bar. One of those places that is loud with music, the completely boring kind of music that just makes people shout to try to have a conversation. Beer prices were also too high. At least the pub itself and the crowd was unpretentious. There is relief however outside at the back. A huge, double beer garden, the first one is a large patio and behind that a large and pleasant, grassy beer garden.

Great basic gastro pub with a beautiful beer garden & additional grassy back yard! Not sure how busy it gets on the weekend, but great for a week night dinner & a catch up. We had burgers which were a little on the small side, but tasted delicious. Recommended if your in the area, but I wouldn’t be travelling across town to go here.

Popped into the White Hart on a Saturday afternoon… their promise of a large beer garden lured us in. Their beer garden is indeed spectacular, but we were looking for a shaded spot and they had already been all nipped up so we kept indoors where the breeze was just as great. White Hart has a large bar and is spacious inside with lots of natural light, and lots of seating. While we didn’t order any food — the food that people were getting around us looked yummy. Will definitely come back to try out their menu. Overall, the place was wonderful for a few glasses of Pimms and tackling crosswords, making for a chilled Saturday afternoon. Looking forward to going back!

Oh dear. Nearly a good pub. This average pub with an excellent garden is in the perfect position to be made or broken by its bar staff, and… It’s a miss. It’s a good example of a pub trying to be all things to all men and failing to be anything to anyone. Family friendly! Except the bar man with scraggly hair will give you grief all night. Dog friendly! Same guy will give you grief. Food! Not bad but not remarkable. Football! Er. I just want a pint. Garden! Ok great but the sun comes out twice a year so… Music! Christ I just want a pint. Fireplaces! I could go on. Just go to one of the many other excellent pubs in the area where the bar staff are nice and the other stuff is an extra, not compensation for surly service.

Great spot for hanging out and drinking. It’s got lots of seating and a cozy interior(with multiple TVs for those of you who like being surrounded by screens), plus the famous garden. But I have to admit I’ve been unimpressed with the food. I’ve come here for the occasional meal over the past few months, and I’ve never ordered the same thing twice because each has been so… meh. The menu looks promising(and the prices imply that it would be of a certain standard), but it fails to deliver. So come for the booze and the camaraderie, but don’t bother with dinner.

The White Hart was always a favourite spot for watching the football when I was a Stokey resident a few years back. I have particularly fond memories of watching a certain Champions League final here and seeing United vs Chelsea. Ahh, the days of Champions League football!!! The pub itself is huge with loads of seating areas, a large screen plus numerous televisions, a pool table, and most impressively, a large beer garden, perfect for summer time drinking. As far as I remember the food was pretty reasonable but nothing sticks out in my mind. This certainly doesn’t fall into the gastropub category, but it is what it is, and I had many fun afternoons rolling into evenings here. The major let down to this place is the toilets — freezing cold, tatty, and not always particularly clean. Unfortunately, this has cost The White Hart a star.

Sunday Roasts here are cheap(about a tenner) and include masses of meat. It was a decent roast and there were plenty of large tables free for our large group on a Sunday afternoon. We stayed for a couple of hours until I noticed all heads facing towards the football on the many TV screens. Go if you want a filling, decent, reasonably priced roast that arrives about 3 minutes after placing your order, or to watch the football — just don’t take me with you if you are going for the second option.

Went for leaving do. Hadn’t been here for a long time. Wow, it’s changed, much for the better. Lots of open space, pool table secreted down one side. Tunes were fine, and not«in your face» loud, DJ appeared later to spin a mix of quality tunes(Grand Master Flash — The Message being a favourite of mine) The stripped walls and floors felt right, not tacky like some others can. A broad range of brews to consume, interesting looking food, even the cottage pie had a bouffant mash topping. Swell! The clientele appeared friendly, happy to be there, and enjoying themselves. Staff were attentive, and prompt in service, best of all no cash — no problem — no limit on spend on cards, that could get a bit messy if one spends too long imbibing their beverages! Been there, done that before. I’d be happy to visit again, preferably in warmer weather, to take advantage of the vast beer garden. Roll on Spring/Summer!

Not bad, not bad. Just 1 ale on unfortunately as they had run out of Tribute(seems to a popular drink up here in Stokey!) but the Doom Bar was alright. Managed to get a comfortable seat on a sofa by a roaring fire(wellgrowling quietly might be closer to the truth), which is most welcome at this time of year. Unfortunately this was also near the toilets so a whiff of cleaning product was apparent every time someone had a call of nature. Worth it for the seat thoughI’ll come back here!

I really like this pub, it doesn’t pretend to be anything its not — which is rare in this«I’m too cool for you» area. It’s a pub, which serves proper pub food and has a crackin’ BBQ on sunny afternoons. Now what makes this place so lovely? White Hart, you’re unsexy beer garden which has loads of seats and is full of friendly Dalston souls… Did I mention their Sunday roast? Not that hungry, for £5 their kids portion is more that enough for a lady like appetite. ps. They have perfect Yorkshire Puds… Ah I love the White Hart!

The proper introduction to Stokey and it’s community. This is where they invariably all gather at some point. Live DJs of a weekend with an array of music from old classics to minimal beats filling the spacious bar. The summer sees the garden awash with families and sun bathers getting giddy with alcohol fuelled sunstroke or the more energetic trying their hand at bowls, pints in hand. Or chowing down on the weekend barbeque. And even with the colder weather the place thrives with late-ish closing, good music and plenty else to keep you entertained if you run out of conversation with the pool table and the table football. The food is not the best and not really very inspiring but its not expensive and historically we never went to the pub to eat did we?! I’m glad the White Hart hasn’t gone gastro and has decided to focus it’s attentions elsewhere.

The White Heart proudly boasts ‘Stokie’s largest beer garden’. Any beer lovers, sun lovers, fun lovers, pub lovers, lovers of the good stuff would find this hard to resist. When i first moved to Stokie i remember popping out to get some £1 coat hangers and finding myself in here, Guinness in hand. Ok, so the beer garden is amazing, and the pub is always really busy and has a nice feel, a little non specific and not full of the amazing locals you get in other pubs in the area. Great screens for the football, beer is cheapish and the roasts are massive and nice. Only downside, as mentioned in other reviews, are the absolutely rank toilets. Truly rank, hold it in of you can!

My friends and I like to visit The White Hart on a Sunday afternoon if we’re planning a proper slob out. We’ll grab one of the sofa’s near the fire and order roast dinner’s all round. Life doesn’t get much better than that! In addition to all the comfy seating areas inside this huge pub, there is also a walled garden outside which is great during the Summer months. There’s something a bit special about sitting in a London beer garden– for a few short moments you can imagine you’re somewhere a bit more exotic! My odd complaint about this bar is its weird and frankly unwelcoming old toilets. When I was younger my Gran used to have a second toilet outside which was very cold and always full of spiders. The flush was one of those old chain’s you have to pull really hard and the windows were always slightly mossy. Whenever I walk in to White Hart’s ladies I get flash backs of this old WC like it’s some horribly suppressed childhood memory. All it need is good clean and a few licks of paint to bring this loo into line with rest of the White Hart’s homely interior. This aside, the White Hart is a very nice pub and a great place to lose your Sunday afternoon to.

This is a great pub opposite a good friends house so I frequent it regularly and have been going there on and off for years. It’s huge but warm and welcoming with an open fire surrounded by sofas, a pool table and massive beer garden. This combination makes it a perfect pub for all the seasons; in the one or two days of British summer we have each year, I love to sit out in the garden until the sun goes down, relaxing and getting some fresh air after a big pub lunch. In the winter, it’s a great date pub because its relaxed and cosy, you can snuggle up by the fire or if your chosen companion turns out to be a bit dull, you can always play pool. They have a projector screen that pulls down above the fireplace for the football, so when that’s on I generally avoid the place although I imagine its great for football fans. it does get quite rowdy on match days, not in an unpleasant way, I’m just usually quite fragile on Saturday afternoons.

The best outdoor seating I’ve seen in London. Seriously this place has it’s own park out the back. I guess that makes it a little bit like a summer pub. Otherwise it’s not a bad sort of a space. Seems a trendy place amongst your younger 30 somethings. Beer and food are pricey, as you would expect, but not overly so. The couches are comphy, the staff are friendly and I do like places that still have old pinball machines. The chalk board above the urinal suggests a playful attifude from the management.
