This is a medium sized branch of the familiar chain, with fiction, children’s and stationery on the ground floor and non-fiction on the first floor. I’m a regular here:(OK, I’m old fashioned and like reading paperbacks) and I find it good for presents as well as my own reading material. It is very handy for the station and the staff have always been helpful, ordering thing in when something’s not in stock.

I read in the papers recently that we now purchase 10% of books in electronic form. I’m sure this is set to grow over the years but it will be a very sad day indeed if traditional paper books go the way of the music cassette. With Borders having gone to the wall last year, Waterstone’s is probably Britain’s largest bookshop chain. This branch in Wimbledon is one of their medium sized stores. They have a fair selection of books with staff recommendations on prominent display. I like perusing their cookbooks upstairs and can also be found with my nose in the sci fi section too. Let’s keep real books real, people and support our bookshops!
