My last experience of this Wahaca was sadly not a good one. The service was very bad. All the staff were inattentive, and I had to call people over every time we wanted to ask for something as no one was coming over to check. I ordered guacamole with my main and had to wait so long for it the 2 people I was with had already finished their food, and mine had gone cold. To eventually get it I ended up having to go up to the counter where the food comes out and asking someone behind the bar. The food was OK as always, but in my opinion the food isn’t cheap enough for them to be able to get away with the bad service.

Wahaca is ideal for a lunchtime treat and the steak burrito is the best I’ve had. The staff were friendly and the service started really well, however, as the lunchtime crowd left, they became less attentive and it was harder to get heir attention. I ordered a coffee and regretted it. Perhaps it’s a matter of taste, but I really didn’t like it and I love coffee. I even tried adding sugar, but it was no good, so I left it. The coffee won’t put me off going back though as the food is really great, especially for the price.

Second time in Wahaca, different branch, It was okay. I like how quickly you’re served, the food was nice(I had the grilled chicken on green rice and some tortilla chips with salsa), nothing to shout from the rooftops but better than the ‘mexican steak’ I had in Soho. My friend had a chicken burrito she wasn’t particularly impressed with either. I will have to give the size-bite tacos they do a proper try if we ever go to wahaca again as they seem to be what the place is renowned for but I’m yet t give them a go. Prices are really affordable, which is always a plus. The place is colourful and noisy, I like the layout of this branch’s seating plan, there are some nice family booths. We were seated immediately and served promptly. My second drink was forgotten and there was a mix-up with our bill(promptly rectified). I can’t think of any better word to describe this place other than ‘okay’. It’s an okay place.

This was the second time of visiting and it was just as great as the first. The food was really good, as were the drinks. It was a very busy Saturday night and the service was still great. I would definitely recommend going with a group of people and just ordering loads of the ‘street food’ dishes — we didn’t find anything we didn’t like — all for a decent price!

I came in with family for dinner. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share. The starters of chips, guacamole and beans were all really good. The beans were served warm with cheese drizzled on top and the chips were thicker and crunchier than most Mexican joints. We enjoyed the chicken and plantain tacos and winter veg burrito. All delicious. My pic was the plantain tacos. We also sampled a special sweet corn taco on a purple taco. Really good. We ended with churros and plantain fritters. Both great. The churros had a lovely hot chocolate sauce but my fav were the fritters with ice cream. My pick for drinks were the tamarind twist and mock mojito. The latter had too little drink and too much ice. Watch out for that but otherwise highly recommend this place. I lived in LA for 12 years so I know Mexican and this is good Mexican food!

I had a really lovely dinner at Wahaca. The beef tacos were really tasty and the margarita was just right. The ambiance is relaxed and the service professional. Maria, the waitress, was very friendly and accommodating — when I mentioned I was in a hurry, she made sure my dishes were served straight away. I will go back!

This is relatively new and I like it. In many ways, it’s Wahaca. You know what you’re getting. The service on a Saturday night was good. The food was good, there was a lot of a buzz and a good crowd. Food was tasty and well presented. As a vegetarian, there were lots of options and they were interesting. You can believe that I’ve tried every combination of beans, rice, tortillas, and cheese. Finding plantain tacos and some potato options was really great. There was also a beetroot salad that I didn’t order simply because I had ordered entirely too much of the other things. I’m also happy when I can get Negra Modelo and proper margheritas. I’d gladly go back.

I was taken here by a friend for a meal recently. I suspect most readers will be familiar with the concept: you can order a series of small-sized tacos, tortillas or enchiladas, with some interesting flavour combinations(cactus seems to feature quite a lot) with meat, seafood and veggie options. These arrive in the order they are prepared on small plates. There are sharing options and larger dishes if you want something more ordinary. The beers and drinks are South American themed. The staff were friendly and helpful — perhaps a little over-instructive — but the food came quickly. Having had Tex-Mex in Texas, the food itself did strike me as a little toned-down for British tastes, but it was certainly different from other Tex-Mex I have had in the UK. Everything tasted fresh and was edible, if a little underwhelming. It was busy, and has an outdoor eating area next to the cinema,(downside — right next to the busy Broadway). We weren’t terribly hungry, so a light dinner of two plates and a drink each, came to £25. Overall, I’m not sure I’d rush back — for this sort of food and price I find Chipotle more interesting — but it would be a better bet for a large studenty group.

I live on Arizona so am familiar with Mexican food. I enjoyed very much the food at wahuca which is local sourced with the flavors of Mexico. We had a shared platter of their street food — taquitos, tacos and various other delicious nibbles. They make a mean margarita and we will visit again as I want to try the fish tacos — I love fish tacos. The only problem this visit was service, the servers were very pleasant but forgot to put our order in, so we waited 20 mins before checking to be met with many apologies and food then delivered within 10 mins. It would have been nice to see a small reduction in our bill for this oversight. hence the 4 stars

I might not call this 5 stars in Texas, but in England this is so closest thing to Tex-Mex that we’ve found yet, so it’s a nice taste of home for us. The restaurant itself has a fun modern vibe, and while it’s usually full, the wait for a table never seems terrible. The bar-like area isn’t really a bar though, so if you’re waiting for a table don’t try to order a drink, the staff will just ask you to wait at a table for a waiter to take your order. On the subjects of drinks though, I can always get a Negra Modelo here when I’m craving decent Mexican beer(with a slice if lime if I remember to ask,) and my wife enjoys their margaritas, even if they are a bit small and pricey. Overall, the food is quite good, they’ve put together some interesting flavour combinations such as chipotle pork with pickled onions, and chicken quesadillas with some sort is semi-sweet BBQ sauce. It might sound odd, but everything we’ve ordered has been excellent. The small plates are nice, allowing you to share and try a number of dishes. Again, still not the perfect Tex-Mex option we’ve been searching for, but it’s the best Mexican food we’ve found in England so far.

Distinctly average, underwhelming and«nothing special». Nowhere near authentic(been to Mexico numerous times and several eateries in the US bordering Mexico). I was willing to give Wahaca a second chance having had a reasonable experience on the South Bank. The second experience solidified my opinion. Nothing to write home about. Surprising(to me) given it is the baby of the 2005 MasterChef winner. For me, the food looks the part but really fails to deliver on flavour. All the right ingredients are on the menu though, I just don’t know how they combine all the constituent parts to be so bland. We had fish tacos which were light on fish, heavy on batter and smothered in mayo. What made the experience worse was the waiter, who, was maybe trying to hard to be helpful and almost insisted on having us eat the food we wanted in the order he thought we should. In Wimbledon at least, there are 2 other places where for a fraction of the cost you can get a better(tex)-mexican feed. Chipotle up the hill and Tortilla, which unfortunately for Wahaca is just across the road. #StyleOverContentExperience

Just as good as Wahaca in town, but with shorter queues and a bit more space — bonus! The food is up to the Wahaca standard: fresh, authentic(having never been to Mexico I’m in no position to say this, but it tastes a darn sight better than anything from a burrito bar or desperados and is reminiscent of some of the Mexican placves I ate at in the States), really really tasty, and good value. I had fish tacos which at £9 make for an excellent filling fresh-tasting meal. We had some tortilla chips with fresh tomato salsa to start, also good, and my friend raved about her salad(which arrives in a tortilla bowl, presumably edible though we were tortilla’d out by then!). The service was particularly friendly and the food arrived astonishingly fast — so fast that we had to double check it was ours, in fact, to be reassured by our waiter that it was! In short an excellent place for a quick tasty lunch but equally good for a big dinner with a few beers and lots of sharing dishes. Signed: a massive Wahaca fan.
