Wagamama

The chicken curry was good though the chicken was a little soggy. The ramen is also pretty good. If you don’t like spiciness you may not want to get the chicken curry. Now the service was kind of lazy. I asked for more water from our waiter and she got it (after a while). Then our whole table wanted some more water and one of the waiters just gave us more glasses (with water in it). and that made the table more full.

This was a first time for us in a wagamama as there isn’t one in Ohio. A friend had recommended it (and he asked us to get him a tshirt from Wagamama if possible). So it was interested to find a very industrial, simplistic dining area underground.
We started off with duck gyoza. Didn’t taste any duck in the filling. It was very underwhelming to be honest. And the spicy cherry hoisin sauce that accompanied the gyozas really didn’t seem to compliment it.
I can’t even recall the ramen we ordered (I think I ordered a miso ramen) as they both were very forgettable. My fiancé was extremely disappointed and she vowed to never eat at a wagamama again. I wasn’t as disappointed to be honest.
Wagamama’s model seems to focus on making fusion Asian/​noodle dishes quickly and conveniently. The speed and convenience they got down, as we were seated, waited on, and served pretty quickly.

A friend took me here a while back and since then I’ve been trying to find it, but with no luck. I simply loved the long benches and simple but unique layout.

We ordered the chicken katsu and vegetable katsu and they were both amazing! The chicken one was slightly better but I would be thrilled with either. I would definitely go back to this place if I ever get to visit London again.

When I think of Japanese comfort food, it’s gotta be ramen! This place is a solid go-​to place to grab a nice bowl of noodles. Love this place to grab a quick bite — There are loads of convenient locations open pretty late and a casual communal seating set up. The service at the Haymarket location is really good too.
The wagamama ramen is a good basic version with great noodles and chicken, vegis — broth could have been better but overall wonderful comfort food.
Better than the ramen in my opinion is the gyoza. They have so many types, I’ll have to go back to try some of the other versions. They have a new one on the menu which I want to try: ‘deep-​fried asparagus and shiitake mushroom dumplings’ — *smacks lips* sounds dee-​lish!

I ordered the Wagamama ramen with a side dish of gyoza and I have to say that it was delicious. The ingredients in the ramen were fresh and the gyoza tasted great with the soy/​sesame dipping sauce.
Nice atmosphere. The seating of long tables is very different from other restaurants. The menu has a good selection of noodle and rice dishes. I do wish to try more items the next time around!

I wouldn’t exactly call Wagamama’s food Japanese, but then again neither is curry, which is the best thing on their menu. Soups take center stage at this cafeteria, but they lack the subtle dashi flavor you expect from good Japanese broth. The curry, on the other hand, is as inauthentic (and delicious) as what you get in Japan, and it satisfies the hunger pains oh so well. Service is pretty quick and the prices are decent, it’s just a really good business model. Go for lunch or bring a large group in the evening to occupy the large communal tables.

How can one not love Wagamama? You can order online to many of these locations so that’s a handy dandy plus.
The vegetarian options are great, most are really good and really filling. Their tofu is really good.
The veggie gzuoza is awesome. The prices are awesome. Overall= awesome.

Wagamama is my favourite among all the restaurant chains i have been to … and by a long way at that. This surely is one the very few things about UK that i will really miss if i were ever to leave.
I am reviewing the restaurant at Haymarket as this was the first branch where i had dined (after a show of the Phantom of the Opera). Since then i have been to Wagamama at a number of locations … and the experience has been equally good.
This place is very different from most other restaurants … both in the menu as well as in the set up. There are rows of long common tables where everybody sits together and eats … quite like a college canteen. The haymarket branch has a few niches in the walls, just enough to fit two people, towards which all the couples are directed :)
My favourite main course dishes here are the cha han and the katsu curry … but the reason why i bring to wagamama almost all of my friends coming to London are its desserts. They are as unique as it gets. The tamarind chilli pavlova is exquisite (who knew you could make ice cream with chillis) … and the chocolate fudge cake with wasabi (i couldn’t believe i was reading this) is a treat.
This is the restaurant which holds the dubious distinction of turning me away most often :(
It closes at 11pm on fridays and saturdays … and i always seem to miss the deadline by a minute or two … but there is another one nearby at leicester square which remains open till midnight.

This is the Pizza Express of Japanese food. Wagamama is everywhere and serves up yummy food with quick service. Eating on long tables and benches, it’s definitely not a set-​up you’d find often in the U.S.
The chicken katsu curry was yummy. You can call it unauthentic all you want. It tastes good.
Wagamama ventured across the pond to Cambridge and Boston too.
