Fantastic service and the guy helped me find the right frames with his first recommendation! I walked in, told him a colleague recommend I come here as I needed new glasses and booked an appointment for the next morning first thing. Next day, nice welcome, down to the eye testing room with all those contraptions, lights, silly glasses that have interchangeable lenses and the vinyl covered squeaky chair. After being grilled on what colour lights I could see more clearly, whether one lollypop stick lens gave me better sight than the other, I came back upstairs to be told my prescription had changed and I needed new glasses — no surprise there. The guy looks at me and says, ‘after you came in yesterday and told me you were after new glasses, I was thinking all night about the frames that would look best on you and I think these are the ones’. Well slap my ass and call me a kipper, he was bang on! I tried about 5 other pairs just to make it look like I needed to think about it a bit more, but deep down I knew he had done what no optician had managed to do in the 30 or so years I have been wearing glasses: to get me to decide on the first pair I tried on. I bow down to the spectacle selecting God and sing his praise for his great work.

Great, great service! I went to Visioncare Opticians to have put sunshades in a frame that I recently purchase online. Also, I’ve had another pair of glasses, where I needed new lenses, as the old ones very scratched. The owner of the store(at least that’s what I suspect he was) was super-helpful and made me feel very comfortable throughout the consultation: — He sat down with me, took my measurements and then explained what would need to be done. He explained that there might be a minor risk with having the scratched lenses replaced, as the frame wasn’t knew and it might break(being a plastic frame). He re-assured me though that in 99% of cases this wouldn’t be the case — and it wasn’t! — I asked him about the option of buying polarised lenses. He said that this would certainly be an option, but also mentioned that it really isn’t worth the extra money(an additional 70 – 80 quid). Polarised lenses, he explained to me, are really only helpful when you go skiing and the snow is glaring like crazy. For other purposes, polarised lenses are simply an unnecessary sell-up. — Being a frugal customer, I’d been asking around at various other opticians. The prices at Visioncare were in the normal range, but they excelled at the delivery. For example, I went to a Specsavers branch and while they quoted me approx. the same price(but also tried to sell me the polarised lenses), they said that they would be able to have the lenses replaced within 10 days(due to the Olympics). At Visioncare, I dropped of the lenses on Monday afternoon and picked them up on Wednesday morning of the same week. I can highly recommend this place!
