This is an excellent local(to me) restaurant that excels in fish cuisine. The restaurant had been highly recommended to me for ages and I was not disappointed in the slightest and I’ve since wanted to return for ages but not had the chance to even though it’s local! When we went — as a large group of 8 on a Saturday night I might add — we experienced excellent food and drink, an atmospheric & busy ambience so understandably the service was a little slower than expected but it was packed and as I mentioned we were in a large group! As Dan B mentions because of restrictions you might find parking an issue but the restaurant is located in Lee, between Hither Green, Blackheath and Lewisham so you can travel by train to /from any of those mainline stations or the route is served by many a bus. Enjoy!

A superb little restaurant in Lee Green Villa Moura is a lovely little seafood restaurant in Lee Green, not far from Lewisham and Blackheath. Punching above its weight in terms of quality, the food is delightful and the staff are perfect hosts. It’s relaxed, and there doesn’t seem to be any enforced dress code, although a few of the diners were in reasonable smart trousers and shirts. It tends to fill out quickly, so booking is recommended, and although there are a number of good restaurants in the area, the food really is superb. You feel looked-after from the moment you walk into the restaurant; the staff are attentive(and quite funny) without being clingy or claustrophobic. The restaurant is actually quite small, and although there’s a downstairs as well, you do feel quite close to other diners. The menu is absolutely chock-full of fishy goodness, and it’s all really good. The starters are particularly good; I recently had the Norwegian mushrooms, breaded and stuffed with salmon(and with accompanying salad). Delicious, and generous — there were four of them, and they were pretty big. The mains are simple but great — usually a nicely prepared fish dish with a small amount of potatoes, mash or other side. There is a small selection of non-fish dishes, so it’s safe for the occasional non-fish eating friend. Service is reasonably quick, and you’re never kept waiting for too long. The wine list is reasonable, in terms of both price and range, although by no means exhaustive — but it’s good enough not to dock a star for! There is a good range of puddings and booze to finish up with. The prices overall are really reasonable — £12 — £15 for most main courses, and £14 — £25 for a bottle of wine. Individually, the elements may not stand out as remarkable but as a whole, the dining experience is extremely good. The attentive staff, reasonable prices, really tasty fish and good starters all combine to make Villa Moura a lovely little find.

Really nice, good atmosphere, wide ranging menu(if you like fish), very tasty, unpretentious like has already been said. Highly recommended — giving it 5 stars because of the relative lack of eating places in the area, this one stands out

What a find. Located between Hither Green and Blackheath(so, strictly speaking in Lee I guess), is Villa Moura. I’ve always liked the look of the restaurant whenever I’ve ambled past, but I ventured there for the first time last night with a bunch of Hither Green-based mates(we have decided to start exploring local eateries once a month). Well, the restaurant was packed, the service was cheery and cheeky and the food was blimmin’ delicious. The menus are immense leather-bound pages of proud splendour, with one of our group comparing them to Michael Aspel’s ‘This Is Your Life’ books. Fish is what they do best, and my do they do it well. I had fisherman’s soup to start — a broth packed with so much flavour along with juicy prawns, succulent squid and perfectly-prepared mussels. For my main I chose the rather exquisitely-named Neptune Symphony fish platter. Oh my — the tastiest plate of seafood I have ever had the pleasure of eating, along with a creamy Dry Martini & Orange sauce. There was salmon, there was monkfish, and more prawns(soooo sweet) and mussels. TASTY. I didn’t have dessert(I went for Cointreau… yeah, it was a bit like that) but the spoonfuls of others’ I managed to nab were divine. OK, this restaurant isn’t cheap, and along with the copious amounts of ‘Green Wine’(a Portuguese favourite) we mananged to quaff, it came to just over £40 a head. I have begrudgingly withheld the extra star for this, plus the fact that our mains arrived about an hour after our starters. But, you know what, we spent a rollicking good few hours in there, it was packed, we were well looked after and I’d go back in an instant. And, if the cost is an issue, they do set menus as well.

A very good restaurant /bistro with extremely friendly staff headed up by Mr Kosta. The dishes are wide mostly fish, but they also have some red meat and poultry(Portuguese style) dishes as well as a few vegetarian dishes. Servings are on the large size and presented in without being overly fussed over. I always leave replete and happy. For my money it is the best dining experience in the Lee Green — Lee Station area. They have a sister restaurant called Sea Salt in Beckenham, Kent.

This fish restaurant has a great atmosphere. The waiting staff are really friendly and on the night we went seemed to have loads of energy. Portions are very large and starters could easily be a main course anywhere else. Expect to leave full. That said, it is all very tasty and very well cooked. Parking could be an issue near the restaurant as the majority is residents only but there is some on the side street that the restaurant is on the corner of.

Good VFM fish restaurant. It gets quite busy so worth booking. It is unpretentious and friendlier than some restaurants in nearby Blackheath. The food is fine, not top notch but good value.
