Vasilis Kebab Takeaway

This is simply one of the best traditional Cypriot kebab houses in London, maybe even in the UK. I’ve tried a lot and this one never fails to deliver. They do a range of Cypriot souvlakia plus a selection of cold ‘mezedes’ starters like hummus, tahini and tzattziki, with extras like gigantes (large beans in tomato and onion sauce) dolmades (stuffed vine leaves) and even kalamari. Plus you have the classics like lamb souvla spit bbq’d for 2 hrs, kleftico, mousaka amoung others. Kebabs are served in traditional Cypriot pitta (not the cheap stuff you get elsewhere).
This is a locals in the know place and is always busy so best to order over the phone and pick up or you can sit and wait. Ask for your kebab Cypriot style and you’ll get just that — no lettuce and cabbage like in the fake kebab houses, thick chunks of meat that are delicious. Mmm it’s like being in Cyprus!
I’ve been going here since it opened about 3 years ago and is still the same. It is always clean and the staff are friendly and efficient. It has a 5 rating for hygiene, and no it’s not my place!
