Had to update my review. They can’t figure out how to use credit cards here. Standard card, chipped card, any card. Too bad because it’s in a nice area and this was going to be my go to for the next few weeks. If you go, take cash!

Horrible. Below average food and a caesar salad so bad we sent both back. Wouldn’t honour a 20% off offer as we didn’t order starters and mains even though the offer makes zero mention of this on the website. Basically illegal as this is false advertising. Oh, and the men’s room was totally toilet roll free. How convenient. I’ll never go back. Avoid.

Worth the short walk to get away from Canary Wharf if you have the money. I came here for an after work drink, it is a spacious restaurant, but most of the people there were there to drink rather than eat it seemed. There are lots of tables, sofas, an upstairs too(which I didn’t go up to as it had a private party) for places to sit and talk. If you are looking for a cheap drinks, you should probably go find somewhere else, they are Canary Wharf priced but you are paying for the location and the view of the dock. I’d say it is perfect for a date as there are places to sit, nice view and probably good food, coupled with good selection of drinks.

A great measure place, we were there on a Friday afternoon which tended to be crowded and a bit noisy. The menu made it up to it and was good. Prices are according to the atmosphere, which is reasonably but not cheap. Liked the burger

Wish I could give this restaurant a 0 if I could! Went here for a friend’s birthday dinner of 15’ish guests. It was 7pm on a Saturday night, and through the whole night, there was a table of 2, and 2 tables of 4. Quick summary of things that went wrong: — gas issues, so the kitchen wasn’t working for 30 minutes — drinks took 20 minutes to be served. Mine was forgotten and took another 10. — asked for a basket of bread, which was a 25 minute wait — due to the long wait, we were given complimentary bread and pizza — but that only went to one of the tables — basic task of refilling water wasn’t done. Had to repeatedly ask waitresses, but glasses were still empty at the end. — Lasagne was a soggy mess that fell apart in my mouth — rare steak was served charred on the outside, and medium inside. — carbonara pasta was bland and pasta was too al dente — with 4 waitresses working(and us being the only table to serve), the entire ordeal took over 4 hours. The manager was really apologetic for everything and did try to make things right: — 2 rounds of complimentary drinks and shots, though there was a lot of complimentary drinks that were still on the bill at the end — took the service charge off — complimentary pizza and bread(though inconsistent and given to only one table) Food was terrible, service took too long. While the manager was apologetic and I’m sure he didn’t want us to be having this bad experience, it is still his responsibility. The whole experience left nothing to be desired.

I went to Tompkins for an afer work drink with some colleagues, so can’t comment on the food. The atmosphere, beside the water at South Quay, was nice and the outdoor seating was comfortable. Unfortunately the service is extremely slow. The bar was understaffed, and even when there were few customers, the staff failed to serve people in the correct order. I get the impression that staff aren’t bothered about service, as people will keep coming in regardless. I’d rather go to the busier waterside part of Canary Wharf and get served quicker, even if there are hundreds more people at the bar.

This place is not really restaurant. It’s more like a bar that does food. The prices however pretend otherwise. I ordered a chicken dish, which was so dry that I had to drink water excessively for the next few days to rehydrate myself. Anyway, don’t waste your time with this place.

Decent waterfront bar and restaurant with lots of lovely outdoor seating. Food prices are a bit high, but this is pan peninsular. Quality not as good as the nearby Goodmans. But for drinking, some light food, and modern interiors and lots of outdoor space, can’t fault it.

I live in the building so was very excited to see that we had a restaurant when I first moved in. I’ve sampled the restaurant 3 times now and have been disappointed 3 times now. Normally I can stomach quite a bit but it was really bad. Beer selection is really small too.

I’ve never eaten the food here like the previous reviewers, so I can’t vouch for Tompkins’ quality in this department. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t so good, if I’m honest. But I can tell you what I have done. Drink. I have done this often at Tompkins, in fact. I have had 1 or 2 on occasion. And I’ve also drunk myself to oblivion on other occasions. You see, the Tompkins is convenient and comfortable. It’s big. It has loads of comfortable seating. It has a full bar and some interesting beer on tap. It’s a little bit posh because of the Canary Wharf vibe, but it’s far enough away from Canary Wharf to not be teeming with dickbags. Also, it has a nice outdoor area. Best use this only in the summer, though. I’ve used it in the not-summer without any sort of outerwear and had to get my beer coat on and fast(see ref to ‘oblivion’ above). When my colleagues suggest drinks after work, it’s always Tompkins. It can only ever be Tompkins.

I’m surprised the previous reviewer, didn’t like the food! I used to have business meetings here all the time… it is the perfect place to go for a relaxed lunch and I have never found fault in the food or the wines! There is a gorgeous lunch menu that changes with the season. It also has a decent cocktail selection if you want to relax and drink here after work… they even have a brilliant hanging/swinging chair suspended to the ceiling. The service is excellent, but quite slow… this just isn’t the place to come for a speedy bite to eat, I don’t think we ever managed to finish in less than an hour and a half.

I love having brunch and I love breakfasts, warm crispy toast ready to be slapped with butter and condiment, silky and fluffy scrambled eggs Need I go on? I can have breakfast stuff anytime of the day and love it when places offer all day breakfasts. As not everyone might be as crazy as I am, brunch is a good alternative where I can still go breakfast crazy while my friends can choose other options; all while chilling out on a sunny and relaxing weekend day. I’ve always eyed the outdoor sofas longingly waiting for the sun to come out to give me an excuse to chill out there. At the first sight of sunshine, I was there to chill out. I got the big breakfast known as The Grand Slam £8.50. Pineapple Carpaccio Curaçao, Mint and coconut ice cream £6 The food is nothing to shout about and I was slightly disappointed as it has everything else going for it. However the pineapple carpaccio deserves a special mention. Rectangular deck tables and chairs on one end and sofas and seats at the other end to soak in the sun and river views. The interior is decked out with an eclectic mix of chairs and tables of different sizes, designs and colours. Love the quirkiness of it. I will still come back here but it will be more for the facilities and environment that it offers than the food.

Delightful modern café bar, tasty menu and interesting setting. Mixture of classic sofas, traditional dining chairs mixed with modern seating. A cool place to hang out with a connection to the history of the trading Thames.
