Cozy, scenic theatre pub in Chiswick, very close to Turnham Green station. Pleasant décor, smallish but likeable outside seating area. Beers aren’t cheap. Chiswick is an upmarket suburb of central London, so don’t come here for cheap beer or food. The Tabard is a very nice place with an excellent range of real ales, hand-pumped or bottled, from Britain and from abroad. But a pint of regular British ale can cost as much as UKP4.00, which is expensive for a venue outside of the immediate tourist area. Foreign ales can be up there at UKP5.50. Or higher. The upside is the pub itself, which offers very cozy and amiable seating inside and out. There are several secluded booths so you can have a chat with your friends without disturbing everyone else. Generally speaking, there’s much more room than the building seems to suggest. Staff are knowledgeable and efficient. Gets busy on weekends, especially the outside area, which is cordoned off from the street. Thankfully, the otherwise VERY busy Bath Road gets quieter towards the evening. As suggested above, this pub offers frequent stand-up performances and music.

Tabard used to be my local when i lived in bedford park. It was popularised by out of work artists and supporting actors. Recently it sport a theatre for small parts and the atmospher is still very laid back. Very local in that kind of way.

Good boozer, good outside area with shelter, heaters, staff are freindly and there is a good selection of ales and beer although there is odd pricing which leaves you with your pockets lined with shrapnel. good location, nice crowd, I dont think I can fault the place

I like this pub, because it is a pub, it doesn’t pretend to be anything else. Service is good, beer selection is good(and well kept), not tried the food but really like the place. Also recommend the theatre for something less mainstream to watch.

Sign outside says best real ale selection in Chiswick, I would say one of the best in London. Great outdoor area.

The Tabard is a theatre pub in Turnham Green(pretty far west London). I went last week to see an acquaintance in a production of a modernised Dorian Gray story. The pub is on the ground floor, there a two rooms with the bar running through both. In appearance and atmosphere, though pleasant, it is a fairly typical pub. Also, the staff are friendly and efficient. Through the pub garden there are a set of stairs that lead up to the theatre. It is a small theatre with seating for around 40. As one might expect it has quite a diy aesthetic, with the small size making performances intimate. A pleasant pub and theatre, a fun place to see local theatre, though a little out of the way.

The Tabard is your average local boozer. Don’t expect a gastro pub and you won’t be disappointed! The food is standard fare, but has always been pretty nice, and if you can bag a table outside you’re laughing. I have to say, everytime I’ve been there I’m always on the lookout for the ghost of the Grey Lady who apparently haunts the premises. Let me know if you see her!
