Stumbled on this pub when I was taking pictures in the St Paul’s Catherdral area, and my car was parked in Cloth Street. It’s a Sam Smith’s pub, but I found it had less of a chain feel to than others I’ve visited. It has quite a large downstairs bar, but maintains an intimate feel. They have a good ‘pub grub’ selection, including Mac and Cheese, pie and mash selection and others you would expect in a UK pub. I was hungry, and as it was a Sunday, plumped for a roast pork lunch. My expectations were not high. For £8.95 I was expecting a small portion, with a selection of warmed up frozen vegetables. I was pleasantly suprised when a freshly prepared Sunday roast was delivered to my table. The portion was too large for me to finished. I was really pleased that I found this place. If you are in the St Paul’s area and want to avoid the packed tourist eateries; I would highly recommend going back a few streets to find this place. For value for money, you would find it difficult to beat.

Great little pub with a nice selection of drinks and friendly atmosphere. An added bonus are the drinks are not expensive, especially for London prices. Although it may be a bit tucked away it is certainly worth seeking out.

This backstreet boozer is a Sam Smiths establishment — which means it is a) cheap, and b) free of brands other than Sam Smiths. This may put some people off, but it should not detract from the fact that this is a nice, old skool pub, with friendly staff and a timeless charm, that stands in stark comparison to some of the more pretentious establishments in this part of town. Often busy, this equates to a pleasant buzz of conversation — if this is too much, take your«Alpine Lager» and head upstairs, where there are comfy chairs/sofas, which are unlikely to be taken.

This is my local after work spot on a Friday night. The liquor is cheap, but leaves you rather starchy the next day — not exactly sure why. This has its own churchyard and it is wonderful being outside but not having to endure traffic whizzing along beside you. Friendly staff and an upstairs section that seldom gets used.
