Always a good spot to meet some locals, many government folks come here after work. They have a good selection of Fullers beers and other drinks. I did not eat here but have enjoyed many pints here. Nice outdoor area on the side and front of the pub.

Another cheers to Fullers! This is a lovely little pub located wonderfully on Whitehall. Always busy and full of tourists sure, but you’re in the heart of london so what can you expect?! Their prices are typical with central london but the beers and poured well and wine wines poured large. Being with Fullers they have a great selection of food including pies so perfect for those looking for a traditional British dish! The décor is pleasant and its three floors so plenty of seating and areas to prop yourself up! There’s also a few benches outside for when the sun is shining. Just a good, all rounded pub! :)

After a long day at 10 Downing St, Buckingham palace and Westminster Parliament House, this traditional British pub provides a convenient watering hole to unwind after work. Bottoms up!

We stopped by The Red Lion after doing our London walking tour. We were both thirsty and chilled, so this popular pub looked perfect. As I mentioned, it is popular so the place was packed, like standing room only packed. We both ordered a pint(I love saying that) and stood near the window to enjoy the beers and the views of the Westminster area. The pub has a long history and was recently refurbished. Turned out, Charles Dickens and Sir Winston Churchill frequented the establishment. Since it is located across from parliament, many politicians have also imbibed at the pub. We did not have any food so I cannot comment on that. The service was nice at the bar and the beer was tasty.

ATTN all US(and probably all) Tourists, steer clear! Went here tonight with my family. — Half of the things advertised online where not available. Pie sample plate to share, not available. Beer selection was not good. — Most of all the condescending attitude of the waitress was terrible. «Sorry not available…» She was not pleasant. — We decided to take our $ 100GBP elsewhere. — We found Sherlock Homes Pub up the road and we were treated well, food was excellent, prices affordable and staff friendly to tourists. Don’t always listen to concierge, this place is not worth the stop. Will also post this on Trip Advisor to warn off US Travelers.

Today I was the first time in a pub in England. If all pubs like this than I have to say good save the Queen. This place was great my wife and I split fish and chips and there were really good. Excellent.

The Red Lion was so amazing. We got the ale and pie tasting board. All the pies were so good — I’m dying. I’m from the USofA and now I’m confused about why«we» left. The food was so good! The fish and chips were so good!(but I asked for more delicious sauce) Other fried fish I have eaten should be ashamed! I loved this place, and it didn’t seem like there were many restaurants in the area. Why would there be, cause REDLION! Except the top of the pies were a little… hard, and I had read somewhere to maybe turn them over? So we turned them over, but them I’m just a dummy from America — smart enough not to break my teeth though. FIVESTARS! Either this place is good or I don’t know anything about food(either one of these might be true)

LOVE the culture here in London! After work, people get together at the pub and drink! :D People gather around outside the pub, holding a beer and chatting with friends. No need a table or chair… just need the drink! Many pubs here are decorated with fresh flowers outside. Kind of unique, so when I pass any place with fresh flowers outside… right away I know I can find beer there! hahaha~ Since it is very crowded after work hours, you have to «fight» your way into the bar counter. Don’t be shy to shout out your order to get bartender’s attention! BTW, NOTV inside the pub, unlike the sports bars here in LA. Which is good because people can really interact with each other and TALK!

Jet-lagged beyond all description, four hungry Americans stumbled into The Red Lion for lunch on day one of the vacations of our lives. The location was unsurpassed; across the street from Downing Street and a one minute walk from Big Ben and Parliament. Food and service both were competent and the air of British pub authenticity was unmistakable. The fish and chips portion was quite large and tasty; the pies had nice flaky crust and good flavor but were smallish in size. Know what«rocket» is before ordering the pasta; it is a very spicy cabbage. We were sated but not wowed, given the promise of something exceptional based on the old-time ambiance and character of both the wood paneling and the artful menus. The meal was solid and authentically British, but it was not all that special. Pricey, but part of what one pays for is location. For better or worse, we had the experience to pay in pounds for the first time. Lots of them, for a lunch.

We found the Red Lion after scouring the area near the London Eye and Parliament for the perfect pub. Their fish and chips were delicious! Check out the dining room on the second floor if you’re looking for a quieter environment, separated from the excitement from the bar below. The lower level seemed dominated by people in suits having after-work off-site meetings, but we felt perfectly welcome in casual street attire.

Don’t waste your time or your money. On a recent visit, we had the worst servers. Ever. We sat in the lower floor, basement area. There were two servers, one a young woman with short hair and the other an older gentleman who was well beyond his patience level by the time we were seated. He was obviously bothered the place was full of customers. He scowled the entire time and she kept coming back to our table to clear it– as we were eating, without asking if we were done. At one point, my partner had an empty water glass and she simply removed it without saying a word. We had to specifically ask for a water refill, not water glass removal. I honestly don’t care how quickly they had to turn their tables, it was rude. There are thousands of great pubs and restaurants in London. Go to them instead. Our staff had a terrible attitude and clearly had forgotten that its the customers who keep a pub successful, not their untrained, unhappy workers.

This political junkie found the local parliament hangout. Go figure! Nice local vs. tourist ratio. Outside the politicos sip beers and network, inside and upstairs is the restaurant. The pie & ale sampler is to die for! Real Olde style feel. Love this place!

This traditional pub has one great asset… an upstairs dining room. This feature alone earned the 4th star, as it is often hard to find a table to eat at when dropping into a pub after 5pm. With that said, the menu was just a tad pricey, and the quality of the food was acceptable, though not memorable. Service was friendly and efficient. Beer selection was pretty limited, but the Fuller’s ESB is a safe selection.

A great cozy pub located near the Parliament and 10 Downing St. Ambiance is quite business like since most of the patrons are suit wearing politicians, civil servants, and business people who work nearby. Food is decent and beers are great. It’s a pretty busy place and generally filled to the rim.

Five stars for the beer. There is a lot of good beer in the UK. One of the things that makes for great beer is the skill and talent of the cellar master bringing the casks under their care to the perfect point of maturation, and no one does it finer than these folks. Great beer.

We had a great experience here. It is a pub and it has all that comes with that. Add the history of the place and what is there not to like? I had to break down and get the fish and chips with a pint of ESB. It was perfect. Our waitress was nice and attentive. Aside from a college douchebag making rude comments about what he would do with that waitress, the clientele was charming and well behaved. Even in the college group, it was obvious that they were embarrassed by the douchbaggery of their«friend». The atmosphere is very«pubby» and the location is absolutely perfect.

A busy little pub in tourist town, serving a couple of ales and a couple of keg beers of interest. Bengal lancer is nicer on cask though. Worth remembering for future imbibing. There is a relatively secret little cellar very much worth knowing about. Had the sun not been out for our visit it would have been a very clever find.

With Westminster Abbey on one end and Downing Street on the other, I was apprehensive about The Red Lion Pub being a tourist trap, rather than a quality food establishment. I was pleasantly surprised when we got decent British cuisine that blew away my low standards for food in London! I ordered the smoked paprika chicken, which had extremely tender chicken marinated with paprika and sandwiched with melted cheese between thick wheat bread. My mom had the pulled pork sandwich, which was surprisingly well-balanced with an Asian slaw to cut the salt. The best value is definitely the ale and pie tasting board, which comes with three sampler beers and three of their specialty pies. My favorite pie was the broccoli cheddar, tasting exactly like broccoli cheddar soup between a flaky, buttery pastry crust. The chicken and chorizo and the steak and mushroom pies were also not overly heavy or creamy, although the dish as a whole tends to be heavier because of the pie crust. This is a great place to grab lunch and get a taste of British cuisine!

The pub itself is physically kinda cool but we arrived in a small group and the barkeep was terribly slow(many minutes per customer, and completely unable to multi-task).
Since this is right next to some of London’s top tourist spots, you’d hope that the nearest pub would be tops at serving waves of small groups, but this guy wouldn’t have kept up with 3 grannies in an Aberdeen ice storm. On top of this, half the beers ran out on a Friday at about 7 p.m. I was there with a London pub crawl group — not the type of people and cash an owner wants to let escape — yet we were forced to leave thanks to no beer and bad service. I hope they get their act together.

Attention à l’habillement Un pub pour les politiciens et les personnes du parlement donc habillez vous bien avant de rentrer dans ce pub sinon vous risquez de vous faire refuser. On peut y manger aussi mais je n’ai pas goûté.
