I liked it, a bit small and scruffy from the outside but a proper little locals pub. The staff are nice & friendly, the beer is that of a good price and it can get very busy in the evenings with a bit of a livewire atmosphere. The rooms there are very cheap and decent, well value for money! The pub is on a main road, very handy for the buses, Charlton BR Station is just a short walk away and easy to get to for trains to Greenwich and London. I normally stay there if I am away for the weekend watching West Ham United FC games and want half decent accomodation for a couple of nights.

I have two local pubs literally a minute walk from my house. Hooray me you think! No. Because I live in Charlton. So local = a little bit scary sometimes. This pub, is the worse of the two. I’ve been here once, and it just wasn’t comfy. I dare not ask for a glass of wine — for it would have been thrown at me. I felt comfortable ordering Stella. I’m a self confessed snob — I should never be put in situations where I’m comfy ordering Stella. It’s one of those pubs where strangers talk to you. I’m sure they do this to intimidate you into never going back. It worked. I haven’t been back. I just know that that friendliness is fake, they don’t give a shit about me and what i do for a living, if you say the wrong thing(and i often do after a pint of stella) they’ll kick your ass and you’ll find me dead in a gutter. Scary. Plus, they walk past my house after closing and wake me up. Grrrr.
