This place is off the hook! The mayor is super awesome and the cocktails are amazing!

1000000 stars! The mayor has a special place in my heart and was the highlight of my London trip. I walked into a bakery, hoping I found the right spot and as I learned online, I asked to see the mayor. We waited a couple minutes and the fridge opened. No, I’m not tripping on acid. We literally walked through the fridge, down the stairs under a flashing sign, and into the best speakeasy I’ve ever been to. Downstairs, it’s loud, dim and so so cool. We waited for a table while sipping on cucumber water and sat on little tree stumps. We were seated in a corner table which was the best for people-watching. A huge sign on the wall saying«no petting» didn’t stop the people around us from making out. Something about this place just makes you giddy. We ordered martinis and a hummus plate. Peanut butter cup was the best drink of my life. The wall art, the service, the discoball in the bathroom was all so so fun. I hear that there’s another speakeasy in the building if you say another secret phrase. Next time. I force everyone to go see the mayor. You will have the best, tipsy time.

The name alone is solid gold and I knew I wouldn’t be visiting London without a cocktail(or five) at this speakeasy-type establishment. Enter through The Breakfast Club and ask to see the Mayor. If, like me, you visit on a busy night, expect to be put on a waitlist and encouraged to grab a drink upstairs. My husband and I made it through two rounds before we were escorted to TMOSCT. This is not a cheap night out, but a commitment of cash. The drink list was solid but after a while I wanted something more classic, which the bartenders were happy to make. We had great service. Drinks are made to order, of course, so there’s some time in that, but I thought we still received rounds in a reasonable amount of time considering every seat was full. Not sure if it’s a must-visit when I return to London, but definitely a spot I wanted to check off my list.

Nice dark speakeasy atmosphere, however service and cocktails could be improved. The waiter took away my drink before I completely finished it, and I felt like they wanted my to party to leave after they served us their first round of drinks. I don’t mind going back but I must say it is not on my top list of speakeasy /bars to go — I was slightly disappointed.

I really liked the concept and it’s a fun speakeasy where you give the code and instead of seating you at the breakfast club, you go through the fridge into the dungeons where the real fun happens. The décor is pretty cool as well. Drinks are priced as you’d expect them to be(9−10£ per cocktail) and they’re fairly good tasting. I did expect a bit better but most people in my party enjoyed it. Overall a good time and definitely a fun thing to do when someone comes to visit you: p

Very cool and trendy space to visit. I came here on my first night out in London and was not disappointed. Try to arrive early as the wait time can easily stretch past an hour on a busy weekend night. I had a single cocktail and was almost floored with how tasty and loaded it was. Don’t be shy and take plenty of pics, it makes for a good story when you tell people how you visited a bar inside a Fridge.

Visited fairly early on a Friday. Excellent service and superb cocktails. I had the Gatsby Rose, which was perfectly suited to me – strong, well-balanced, and a bit bitter. My date’s drink was also really nice. The ambiance is really cool and the secret entrance through The Breakfast Club was cool. Go!

As expected, this place was indeed very very cool and exciting. My boyfriend surprised his friend and I by taking us into the Breakfast Club and then asking to see the Mayor of Scaredy Cat Town! It was a great surprise and going through the fridge never wore off! We thankfully got a table straight away, I think we went on a Tuesday night. We ordered a glass of red wine each, and their cheese board. The service was a bit slow, but thankfully the good company, and good environment made up for that. The staff were friendly, but yes, it would have been better if they had looked after us a bit more. I definitely recommend this place as it is, as mentioned, very fun to walk through the fridge, and to also discover the downstairs of the(not so special!) Breakfast Club. Definitely head here for a drink and some nibbles! It’s great! And whatever you do, don’t tell the person you’re with where you’re going — just get them to ask to see the Mayor of Scaredy Cat Town!

Was here for the second time last night… not sure why I didn’t leave a review last time. It was a Saturday night so we had to wait upstairs in the Breakfast Club for about an hour or so. The Breakfast always looks good! I swear I am going to eat there one of these days. My date had never been here before so my attempts to hide the«fridge» fact were squashed because she could clearly see people going in the fridge. Service was pleasant, drinks were plenty I say this is a must pace to visit while in London!

Concept was good, but not worth the hype! I came with friends last night, we had to wait an hour to get in, but in the meantime were allowed to sit and have a drink in the Breakfast Club upstairs. When we were finally allowed to enter, we were expecting to be lead to a table to be seated but there were none free. By this point we were pretty hungry and our initial intentions were to eat here. However, we were told food couldn’t be ordered unless we were sat at a table. Weird management considering there were people just sat on tables drinking their cocktails. The place is dimly lit with candles, I could hardly see my food which wasn’t the best since I ordered quesadillas(Guacamole and bbq pork went everywhere!) They also play loud 80’s music, so expect to shout convos between yer friends. It was worth a try, but I won’t come running back anytime soon.

I’m a fan. To actually find this place — which is «inside a fridge» in the Breakfast Club — can be confusing, but once you’ve had your fun walking through its kooky, little entrance, you’ll find yourself inside a lovely, cosy bar. The service was particularly good here with very warm and welcoming staff, one of whom offered to make a different cocktail when one of us was unhappy with it. It’s a great place to hang out over cocktails as well because — not to sound OAPish — but the music isn’t too loud so you can actually hear yourselves speak! And while I didn’t think every cocktail we ordered was amazing, I appreciated the varied ingredients listed on the menu and if you have a sweet-tooth, I would recommend the peanut butter cocktail which was the unanimous favourite at our table. Bar the entrance, I don’t think this speakeasy had anything particularly special or outstanding about it, but it all just works.

Our last stop of our«crawl» is going to be The Mayor of Scaredy Cat Town(TMOSCT), based on a recommendation of my daughter’s college chum. As our Über approaches the Shoreditch neighborhood, I have high hopes as the area is very reminiscent of Miami’s Wynwood area. This cleverly hidden speakeasy is within The Breakfast Club restaurant which stumped the Über driver. However, we entered and asked to speak with the Mayor. An entertaining young gentleman suddenly appeared, opened the door of a 1950’s retro style refrigerator, and beckoned us down the dark staircase into the club… nice! After that, my experience was just OK. Drinks again were somewhat high against the dollar… I settled for, and enjoyed, a Alhambra Reserva lager. The atmosphere was pretty loud considering the small space of the basement. Our escort from earlier comped my daughter a shot upon the stroke of midnight for her birthday, which was a nice touch. Unfortunately, at last call, our rather surly female server gave us the check, and then left. Even though I saw her and tried to get her attention to settle up, she ignored me. She was very short with me again when I paid. Maybe having a bad day, IDK. From my experience, the better of our two speakeasies of the evening was Experimental Cocktail Club winning over TMOSCT…

I’ve been dying to try this place but didn’t think it would be straight after an early brunch with my boyfriends mum! After stuffing ourselves on a great brunch I timidly asked it we could see the mayor. The waiter had to check there was space downstairs but within 5 minutes we were guiding his mum and brother through a fridge in to a basement bar… They were confused AND delighted. We ordered some cocktails and a few beers which were all brought over to us by friendly staff. The cocktails were lovely — recommend hot toddy and something about peanut butter. Afraid they are usual London prices but the experience was worth it. I would go back however I can imagine it gets tricky to get in to on a weekend evening or later in the day. Overall good fun — a must try in London!

Loved this place. Easy enough to get in on a Thursday in mid-January, would’ve stayed all night if not for the last train back to Brum. Best Old Fashioned I’ve had for a long time, and the other bourbon cocktail on the menu was great too. A cheeseboard and pork quesadillas was probably the best finish to a night I can think of. Superb.

Oh my word, when my friend was like we are going to a cocktail bar and we showed up at breakfast club. I thought he’d gone craaaaazy! I was like are you sure we are meant to come here, but oh how I was surprised! He said something to the waitress. I know learnt was the special password. Mayor of scaredycat town and then we went through a full sized fridge. By this point, I’m like oh my, this is really happening… Trendy times a million… I was speechless when we went to down to a cute speakeasy. Like a lesson to how to think outside the box and bringing some quirky and wonderful to the cocktail world of London! Cocktail wise, the menu was small and this is something that for me, could use a little bit more work, if I’ve gotta find a criticism. We ordered a cocktail each, which at £10 isn’t the cheapest, but hey you are paying for quality and the idea. So you kinda expect to pay! Both cocktails were served beautifully, you can definitely tell a lotta love went into making them. My friend described his as lethal — with champagne and whiskey together — it had to be really! I got the gin and champagne one, which was pleasant to drink, maybe a little sweet, if anything. If you want impress someone who is into their cocktails or who likes extraordinary things, this is the place!

Now I like this place. Hidden away, seating available, cubby holes for private conversations away from everyone. No fighting to get to the bar and you can hear a conversation. What more do I want!!! Love the fact that, if you take someone who doesn’t know anything about secret codes and being lead through a back way into a secret location has them confused as to where the hell are you taking them :) Great unusual cocktails and waiting staff who are generally quick to turn around the order. I will be back and back and back again :)

Enter through the fridge, leave through the toilets. The mayor of scaredy cat town is a bar in the basement of the popular The Breakfast Club. The Breakfast Club has a bright, open American diner feel while TMOSCT has a contrasting low lit, buzzy, underground bar atmosphere. While this is an awesome place to have a chat with friends or a date over some drinks, the food and cocktails are not crazy spectacular(although they are very, very good) and the queues can be quite long.

It’s a quirky hidden bar near Liverpool Street that involves an oversized, retro refrigerator entrance inside a restaurant. Enter The Breakfast Club, tell one of the servers that you’re there to see«The Mayor,» and wait until they whisk you to a intimate underground drinking den with a convivial atmosphere and reasonably-priced cocktails. I do think the novelty wears off after your first visit, but it’s certainly worth a go if you haven’t been. I’d certainly go again(with an unassuming first-timer!)

Five stars because I get to walk into an old fashioned fridge. Review complete. I don’t think Unilocal will let me get away with that one… Well, there’s this restaurant… It’s a breakfast restaurant. In this restaurant is a magical refrigerator. If you open the door, you can walk inside, and as you walk down the stairs, you’re in a speakeasy, with dim lighting, good music, friendly servers, and just a really cool vibe. You’re bound to find something on the cocktail menu that will suit your taste. If not, there are also wine and beers. The Canadian dollar is getting killed by the pound these days. A cocktail will set you back £9-£10. If you get a beer, you can get away with something around £5. I think it’s worth the cost for the chance to walk into a fridge, don’t you?

I’ve been wanting to check out The mayor of Scaredy Cat Town for ages now but due to the slightly out the way location compared to other places I visit I just never seemed to get around to it. Luckily for me I’ve finally managed to rectify that and it was worth the wait. Getting there at half 5 on a Monday seems to be the ideal time to arrive as there was only 1 other table occupied so I didn’t have the hassle that a lot of people seem to find with it being busy and it helped to ensure that the barman had plenty of time to chat to us about the drinks. Drinks were about the £9 with the obligatory 12.5% service charge on top but they were very good, especially the rum avocado one. Seems weird(and probably is) but tastes amazing. bar staff knew their stuff and were happy to cater for anyone who didn’t fancy something on the menu and wanted to play it a bit safe. You do feel like a little bit of an idiot asking to see the Mayor but it’s a small price to pay for a cool experience. Just remember to leave through the toilet door!
