I would’ve given this 5 stars if the service was better. The waitress was plain miserable and unhelpful. However the maitre’d was lovely and moved us once a better table became available, we didn’t have a reservation either on a busy friday lunchtime. The fish was lovely, a decent sized portion and cooked perfectly. Batter wasn’t too heavy but wasn’t too light i. e tempura etc. The chips were excellent, crispy and fluffy. All the trimmings good too. We didn’t have any alcohol so can’t mention the wine list or prices on that front. But £12 for fish and chips, which yes compared to most take-away’s is pricey, seemed pretty reasonable considering the location. Also the décor and atmosphere inside is most pleasant. Really enjoyed.

In town on business. Had F&C in the UK several times over the years. Sometimes you get em with bones and skin on. That makes me want to gag just thinking about it. Was going to try a more traditional spot but this one looked appealing. Here’s the breakdown: — small space but it wasn’t crowded when I got there at seven. — beetroot salad. I normally find beets to be disgusting, something of a last resort vegetable. But this salad was great. Can’t describe the flavor but with goat cheese and candied walnuts it had just the right texture. See pic. — cod was moist enough, batter was OK. Had better back home but it was solid. — chips were very good, thick cut — home made tartar sauce also good — mushy peas were bland Bottom line: worth a try

Overrated and over-priced. Good piece of haddock ruined by the pool of oil it was wallowing in. Staff inattentive. And why should I have to pay £2 for a glass of water? Could be so much better.

We were in London only for a day and we were looking for some Fish & Chips. We stumbled upon this amazing restaurant while walking one street off Oxford street. This restaurant is amazing! Great food, the interior is really cute and the service was very fast. I highly recommend Mayfair Chippy(formerly known as The Great Britain) to anyone whose visiting London and is looking for a nice restaurant to sit down and enjoy some Fish and Chips. Oh, and the beers they have on tap are really good too!
