My friend and I came here for dinner after hearing great things about it and its sister restaurant, The Dairy. We had the 7-course tasting menu, which was all reasonably sized and the perfect amount of food. I love that it is just 45 pounds and it is basically the chef’s selection of the best the restaurant has to offer. And unlike the tasting menus of upscale Michelin star restaurants, this one, like The Shed, is well priced and still top notch in terms of quality. The only thing we had to choose was the main, of which there were two choices and we both went for the beef, and the dessert, which was also between two options and we both got the white chocolate ice cream. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent. The restaurant is spacious, comfortable, and it would be a great place for a date. There is also bar seating and a good number of those seats seemed to be empty, so it may be possible to just walk in without a reservation. I would definitely be keen to come again.

Went here a few weeks back. Great service, good wine list, but the food is highly questionable — and I wasn’t alone in this. My entire table of 7 all felt like it was far from enjoyable, and most of us didn’t finish our plates. We did the tasting menu — the Skate was full of bones and not tasty, the venison with borlotti beans can only be described as grey on grey and bland. It was the worst of a bad bunch however. After trying their sister restaurant and loving it I am sad to say I would not recommend and would not go again.

I’m not going to lie, we came for the ice cream. I was meeting with bloggers and we wanted to check out a relatively new(ish) spot that hadn’t been tried before. Someone suggested the Manor because they heard the ice cream was amazing. And so, we went. The Manor is a restaurant following on trend with a lot of places now that is has a rustic look. Everything is made of wood, the lighting is low, everything is comfortable. And they’re doing small plates of delicious food. You can either do the tasting menu for about £45 or pick and choose. They have a starter course, veggies, fish, meats and desserts. We weren’t really a fish kind of table, so we mixed and matched. And I honestly don’t think there was something bad on the table. Standouts included: the cauliflower which came with dollops of creamy yogurt. The crispy chicken skins. The crispy pork. And the amazing pigeon in a creamy sauce. I’ll be dreaming about those for months to come. But it’s the little touches that set this place apart. As we sat down, they put down warm bread with chicken skin butter, brought to you in a small heated bag. The unexpected fantastic starter snack of crispy rice cracker with sauce all the way to the ending little cupcake-like dessert(but everything incredibly tasty and well presented) made the evening memorable, and the staff was attentive and friendly. But the fifth star, the fifth star is for the ice cream. You can either order it at your table and wait for it there or go to the tiny dessert counter they have and watch them make it. Go to the counter. Because this isn’t just ice cream — it’s liquid nitrogen ice cream. And suddenly, behind the counter is filled with white billowing smoke again and again as they make your sundae. And then it’s hand crafted, bit by bit, until it’s a shining glorious example of delicious. It’s not just dessert, it’s work of art. This spot is amazing and if it was closer in places like Shoreditch, it would be packed. But go out of your way to go here, you will not be sad you did.
