Great no frills French cousine restaurant Service was very good and the food above decent.

Ok where do I start? House rose is a tasteless liquid better replaced by water. The chicken liver is fine, but the sauce is bland and you’ll find it in other dishes. Which brings me to the«lamb» Wellington. Wellington is supposed to be a slab of meat, usually cover in something, mushrooms are popular these days, and the further covered with puff pastry. That is all supposed to be cooked at the same time for 25 – 30 mins. In other words, rare meat. Imagine my surprise when I was served what only can be described as a mutton pasty. The meat was clearly stewed until both the flavor and the juice was gone. Dry, stewed nastiness. The pastry wasn’t even properly cooked. Vegetables were extra, as was the bread. Neither was good. Highlight was the tiramisu, didn’t look great but tasted like the real deal. It looks like it would be cheap with the advertised prices, but not really once the extras get charged in. It is cheap, bad, food though. This is all before I mention there are about 4 items on the menu that are actually French. All in all a real shame, especially as there are real, inexpensive, and outstanding French restaurants within a few hundred yards.

Thoroughly Impressed! We were walking through Kensington late on a Friday evening intending to eat Thai, when we happened upon LFR. Of course the price of the 3-course meal caught our eye but I was a little wary because honestly what kind of meal can you actually buy for £12.50 in London. We hadn’t booked a table but since it was past 9:30pm we were accommodated.(Though reservations are recommended especially on weekends) My friend and I always share our meals so we were able to try several items from the 3 categories. She had the goat cheese starter and I had the mushrooms with melted Stilton. I thought the portions would be small but was pleasantly surprised when the size was plenty. For our mains she ordered the Lamb Wellington and I did the Coq-Au-Vin. So good and so much food. We were stuffed but dessert was still to come. We thought the chocolate mousse would be the best choice as we were so full. The chocolate was rich and creamy. Delightful! We had also finished off a bottle of the house red which was OK but I’m not raving about it. I highly recommend this cute off-the-beaten-path gem.

AMAZING. cosy, lovely, warm, good foods prepared with affection and details, and so. A-mazing place that makes me feel like keeping it as my secret corner in town.

Price went up but still a nice find. 12.50 but… Have to pay in cash. Plus it requires one drink(good house wine at 3.75) plus we had bread .50 and veggie/potato side with charge for total of 42.55. Nice wait staff, cozy room. Soups were large and tasty. Mains were sizable and very tasty. We’d go back

Really little and really tucked away on an alley where the road ends, the Little French Restaurant is the manifestation of a «hole in the wall». Seats about 20 downstairs and upstairs maybe another 10. The prix fix at 12.50(cash only) is a steal at twice the price. I ordered, Vichyssoise(served hot on a chilly evening), Coq au vin, and tarte tatin. I did order a side of vegetables and a glass of the house red wine. Total bill 18.50. All of the dishes were well prepared and well seasoned. Service was attentive. In a perfect world, I would ask for a few choices of wine by the glass as the red served was«meh», but it was only 3. I would go back in a heartbeat and reservations are necessary as I saw at least 5 parties turned away without. Try the Little French Restaurant, and as a New Yorker who loves bistro French, I don’t think you will go wrong.

This was my absolute favourite restaurant when I lived in West London. To describe it as ‘tucked away’ would be an understatement. The only way we found it was through friends and I felt like Frodo from LOTR winding through the tiny pedestrian alleyway to get the restaurant. So the big thing about The Little French Restaurant is its 3-course dinner for £10. It’s the best dining deal in town in my opinion. For £10 you get a starter, main, and dessert. Drinks are extra, but it’s difficult to get out of there for more than £15/person. My favourite 3-course combo is the French onion soup, coq au vin, and apple tart. I’ve lived in Central London for 4 years now and have no idea how this anomaly of a restaurant can still exist, but it does. It is, quite literally, half the cost of the bland and boring chain restaurants you come across and has that really great dimly-lit French bistro kind of atmosphere you just don’t get around here. Be forewarned though, this place is SMALL. There are only a few tiny tables and they fill up quickly. So if you don’t make a reservation in advance, be prepared to wait a little bit at a nearby pub.

For ten pounds, this is definitely worth the price. The main course is prepared very well, has a decent serving size, and is delicious. I wouldn’t recommend the vegetable side, as it was mostly frozen vegetables, but everything else was delightful. The tomato and onion salad was delicious.

This restaurant’s manager is a TOTALDISGRACE! They dropped a hot dish all over our 16 month old baby and fortunately he didn’t get burnt because I happened to put his hoodie on while he was sleeping in his stroller and had a waterproof blanket over him. The manager NEVER apologized and did not even have the courtesy to comp our bill until I and a regular customer had to yell some sense into her. I understand accidents happen but her attitude was ridiculously rude and you should think twice about going to this place because they obviously do not care about their customers!

This place has the worst customer service! I was there with my buddies and their 16 month old son. We were the only Asian Americans in the restaurant and the servers were blatantly nicer to the Caucasians than to us. As the server was bringing food to the table next to us, he dropped a hot plate of food on the baby’s head. Here’s the kicker — 1) they didn’t sincerely apologize 2) they didn’t bring us any paper towels or anything to clean up the baby BUT they only cleaned up their floor 3) they brought us the check, charged us the full 3 course meals without ever serving us the final course 4) they didn’t comp us with anything 5) as we contested about the check, they practically said it was OURFAULT for bringing the baby in the restaurant. After a very nice local patron furiously contested the situation with the manager on our behalf, they gave us a slight discount. As classy San Franciscans, we just paid the bill and stormed out, though all the patrons practically begged us to not to. This is the worst experience we’ve ever had at any restaurant and this definitely doesn’t help with our first visit to London. I would give this restaurant no stars if that was possible. The most important thing is that the baby is okay. Thank god!

What? A tasty 3 course meal for a tenner? How did I not know about this before? I am a little confused by Kim Marie’s review as our experience here last night was lovely — nothing like frozen food from Iceland! I tried the grilled goats cheese, the delicious coq au vin and polished it all off with some chocolate mousse. You need to order a drink separately from the £9.95 menu, but the house wine was under £11. Seriously — this place is «cheap like a budgie»! You need to order extra veggies or salad to go with the main course, but even after doing so, my dinner cost about £15. I wouldn’t call it fine dining, but it really was tasty, and at that amazing price, je reviendrai. The staff all had sexy French accents and although they weren’t particularly attentive it all seems to be part of the charme de la française. Ah oui. Innit.

Dreadful food seemingly just out of the frozen food section at Iceland. The chicken in fillo pastry starter was just horrible as was the lamb Wellington – thick pastry, little meat and veg. The pork chops were so over cooked and tough that they could not be eaten. Service was poor, attitude was what one hears of in proper French restaurants not in this community. I would definitely not recommend a visit.

Someone tell me please how restaurants like this can continue to exist? Yes it really is tucked down a side alley(no cars) off Hogarth Road in Earls Court. Yes you can only find it with a map or by accident. Yes it really is painted bright purple. It has the most outrageous front man who stands in the street begging/bullying/forcing people in to dine. He is a real character, part of the whole Earls Court«flavour». There are two menus — one set three course dinner menu for £9.99p !!! Three courses in central London for a tenner??? How??? Dunno but it’s really not at all bad. HOWEVER: — For reasons I cannot begin to fathom, the a la carte is very similar(many items identical!!) and it’s only slightly more expensive. Eat from the a la Carte — don’t know why — but it’s much better. Great place, directly opposite the best pub in Earls Court, grab a beer first then dinner. Great night guaranteed.

Lovely little restaurant with excellent food to match. The £9.95 deal is well worth it, though it does limit the menu and you need to order a side of vegetables with the main.

Even with wine, tip and an extra appetizer my meal was under twenty quid. Yes I was dining alone. Anyway, the food was tasty, the service was pleasant(i.e., attentive but not overbearing) and I’ll be back at the first opportunity.

Remarkable! A full three course French meal with glass of wine and service for £15.75! Food was good plain home cooking with a French style. Sensible choices, classic bistro décor and friendly service completes the package. An unusual venue just as far removed from the slick chains as it is from the grubby places tbat surround it. Cherish.

Very good cuisine for an excellent price. The three course meal for £9.95 is one of best bargains for fine dining that we’ve found in the London area during our vacation. The entrees(Lamb Wellington, Cod Provencale) that we chose were excellent; the sauces in particular went very well with the meat/fish. Our dessert choices(Chocolate Mousse, Tiramisu) complemented the meal well. The first course(Mushrooms«stiltonesque», French Onion soup) was average, and the only thing that kept us from giving the restaurant a five-star rating. But overall, the experience was a positive one.

This is a great little restaurant that I visit at least once when I am in London on business. It reminds me of a really good, cozy French corner restaurant. The atmosphere is warm and the food is consistently good and reasonably priced.

My husband and I love this place! The food is great and the price for a 3 course meal is amazing. It’s quite«rustic» which adds to the charm of the place. I agree with Kevin P. about the service being«slow and unenthusiastic», I couldn’t have said it better myself. My last visit solidified that fact as our waiter simply came up to our table and stood there as if we were to read his mind to find out that he wanted to take our order… a bit awkward. Also, this place isn’t really a great summery place either as a lot of the set menu consists of warm-your-tummy winter comfort food but still, delicious.

Went here after going to the pub across the alleyway. They have good dinner prices. At the time I was there a special was in play where it was 10 for a 3 course meal. As for food, I had the goat cheese appetiser and the salmon entrée. Then for desert the tiramisu. Nothing wrong with any of them but the best was probably the tiramisu. The presentation on the salmon was terrible. It was in foil on a plate… come on. The price for glasses of wine was a wee bit on the pricey side. The service was extremely slow and unenthusiastic. But it’s cheap, decent food by Earl’s court, which is near where I was staying.
