Zero stars. I wish I could love this place, but I cannot. Their service is deplorable(even by British standards), and my experience tonight sealed the deal. I will never be spending money at this place again. The specific situation that is making me drive our group(monthly meetings, several dozen of us, lots of money) away from this place was the attitude from the bartender this evening. Their credit card machine couldn’t process my credit card, so he became belligerent and started talking to me like this was my fault. My card is fine. Now that I’m home and checking my credit card status, it is confirmed that this is not my fault. I have plenty of money available on my card, and they treated me like a criminal because their people couldn’t figure out how to use a simple machine. If this bar is going to continue to employ people who can’t operate credit card machines or speak English at a passable level, we will never be back. I’d be happy to speak with the owner and retract all of this if they demonstrate some simple manners, but I thought it is responsible to post this to keep anyone else from being screwed in the meantime. Don’t open a tab. Don’t eat the food. Don’t trust the guys behind the bar. Pay cash. Expect to be screwed.

A pub in Kings Cross, just round the corner from the station, part of the way down York Way. Its a nicely made up pub and for a Sunday afternoon it’s a pleasant space to pass the time, being the first of my group to arrive I checked the place out while looking for a place to sit, the upstairs bar was closed but I did find the nice roof terrace. A little cold though so I went back downstairs. The place was busy and most of the tables were full so i grabbed a small table and a half and settled in. Luck would have it, the large group next to me finished and left just as more of my group arrived, my table was added to the two existing ones and we had our space. Roasts were ordered but it being a little late, the beef had run out. I didn’t order having had lunch only a short time ago but others did, chicken, pork belly and burgers. The food looked good, but possibly could have done with a little more love, the yorkshire puddings could have used a bit of gravy and the food was possibly a little overdone. However, they ate everything and all seemed well, a couple more rounds and a pleasant Sunday was passed.

This is a review to alert you that, yes, there is a small rooftop patio near King’s Cross. It is smallish and walled in, so be aware of that, but still a good spot for catching some fresh air. Oh, and they did NOT have any Doom on hand when I went, sadly.

I’m giving this 5 stars, but with the caveat that I am rating it 5 stars as a pub to have lunch in. I’m not comparing it to any high end restaurant or to a dive bar. It is a nice pub to have a meal, and that’s how I’m rating it. I came here yesterday for a roast with the family, and it was a big hit. Between us we got all the roast options — chicken, lamb, and beef. All came with well-cooked carrots, roast potatoes, mange tout(with some chili), and a bit of red wine jus as a gravy. No Yorkshire pudding, but it wasn’t missed. The chicken was cooked very well — not dry, but not undercooked. It also came with bread sauce, which I love, so big bonus points for that! The lamb was much loved by my fellow diners, as it had been for 18 hours or something and literally fell apart when you touched it with a fork. The beef was probably the least liked — it was good, and those who ordered it enjoyed it, but it’s pre-cooked to rare so there’s no way to have it anything less than medium rare at a minimum if you want it warmed. I also want to take a second to compliment the staff. We ordered a bottle of champagne to start with and two bottles of wine for dinner. The waitress gave a great recommendations for the champagne, and very unobtrusively kept us all topped up regardless of what we were drinking. She was also just very nice about everything, joking along with my parents«complaints» about the beef being cooked too much, etc. Definitely one to consider if you’re in the Kings Cross area and need a place to eat.

Lovely interior and great staff, but I paid 9 or 10 quid for a veggie breakfast that I could have had for a third of the price in a greasy spoon. Very basic and lacking in any flavor apart from grease. I ordered it without mushrooms due to an allergy and didn’t notice any extra anything to compensate. I know it’s not their fault but is a common and welcomed gesture in most places. Despite this the place had a lovely atmosphere, with a fresh décor and really attentive staff. They reserved a really nice space for us(we heard it gets really busy on weekends so booked weeks in advance, bit of an overreaction). We arrived for an early lunch but it was starting to get pretty packed when we left around 2.30. Would definitely go back for a drink some time.

A little bit of East Village in London. … Firstly thx to all Unilocalers who’s reviews introduced me to the Fellow. What a cracking place; great vibe, nice & on point décor, good food & great staff. I was here at 8pm on a Weds evening whilst down for business meetings. Place was busy with a mix of after workers and tourists. Rather than go for a starter and main I plumbed for a selection of starters… onion soup, pigeon breast and finally scallops in crispy ham. … Each were outstanding. All of this with 1tr of water and a Belvedere & diet came to £26.00 Inc service charge. I will be back again.

Nicely busy on Thursday night. Went in for a beer with a friend, in the upstairs speakeasy area. Not a big selection of beers, three drafts only.

Although I have been here many times in the past, and enjoyed the food/atmosphere before, I found the meal this time around for the entire table… lacking. The staff were perfectly friendly, although getting us drinks were not at the top of the priority list, but it was the food I was surprised at this time. The duck was overcooked and was sadly lonely on its massive plate. An order of a side dish seems to be required for this one but none of us were told. I did want a dessert, but when a member of the party announced they saw one of the cooks carrying in their hands(from downstairs into the kitchen on the ground floor) one of the options to be reheated I decided against it. The sad part was that after we left everyone decided to go to tesco down the street to buy a pizza and make at home as we were all still very hungry.

Went here for the pre party drinks with the Crisis volunteers last night. The service was very good, drinks were reasonably priced for London and everyone seemed to have a good time. As for the food, they were above average as far as pub food go. I had a ribeye steak with hand cut chips and I loved it. Only one complain was I ordered my steak rare and it came medium rare. Other than that, we had a great time there.

Had lunch here on 24.10.14. Its handy if you are staying at the premier inn over the road. We arrived just after they opened at 12.00. Glad to see they had Doom on hand pulled so me and my colleague both went for a pint of that. Pulled without a sparkler so not as creamy as it would be in a northern pub but bless the southern softies they know no better. Anyhow collapsing head or not the doom was good and we decided to have a bit of lunch. Its a gastro type set up so a daily printed menu consisting of all home made dishes. We both decided on gammon steaks double egg and homemade chips. It was very good, gammon cooked perfectly on the griddle. Two good runny yoke eggs and a mountain of homemade chips. Price wise it was more than reasonable for where we were 50 quid including 3 pints each. Lost a star for sitting us at a table next to the cleaning station when we were first ones in the place. I would however return here next time I’m in the area.

We were excited to go to the fellow because it was highly recommended by my husband’s coworker. We had decided to go there before our train trip to paris since it’s located right next to the train station. We arrived before they open at 12 and went in as they opened late at 12:10. They asked if we had reservations and said because we didnt we would have to wait 10 minutes so they can situate to see where the seats would be left from all their reservations. We were in somewhat of a hurry since our train was leaving in an hour and a half we said we would just go next door. At that point the waitress said that we can have a seat at the end, where the table was not like the other ones at the very front of the restraunt by the door. The table was a misfit to the others in the restaurant, so kind of an add on and not the most pleasing to sit when there is no one else in the entire restraunt of 20 or so tables. At that point my husband said lets just stay since his friend highly recommended the place. So we stayed… the whole time we were there(approximately 45 minutes) literally 3 tables showed up. Most of the people coming later right before we left, so I dont know why we had to sit at that table, that really left a bad impression on us. The food. We ordered a Caesar salad and gammon and eggs… we didnt really know what gammon was, found out it was ham lol. The gammon was extremely salty, and I get that some English food is salty but we had a hard time finishing it(we were starving so we watered our way through it). The salad was not what you think of a regular Caesar salad… instead of the regular Caesar dressing, the dressing(at least thats what we think it was), was mayo… And instead of romaine lettuce, they served it with mixed greens. I gave a rating of 1 star just because of the overall experience, having that end table when really only 3 of the 20 somewhat tables were going to be taken was what set the tone… And the fact that this was our last stop in london it made us leave with a bad taste of English restaurant, when in fact we received excellent service else where throughout our stay. Not recommended.

This place contradicted the stereotypes of bad British food and service. I got the asparagus tart(so good!) and chicken supreme(also perfect). The waitress was almost overly attentive and a little awkward, but service was generally solid.

Another excellent good value lunch here. this time an organic chicken breast BLT which came in ciabatta with the usual chunky chips and was delicious. £9. worth every penny. What a good place for a quick lunch and how lucky it’s 100 yards from where I work.

Quick glance: + hidden gem away from tourist traps and noisy bars + great food and wine + really accommodating staff + good for catching up with friends After failing to secure a table for four for dinner at a nearby tapas place on a busy Friday night, we wandered around until we came across The Fellow. It was also very busy in the Fellow, with the venue split on the left side as a restaurant and the right side more as a bar. We asked for a table for four and despite a couple of empty tables we were turned down since they were reserved for the evening. Nevertheless, the staff was very helpful and said he could clear us an area in about half an hour in the bar area, and true to his words we were seated in half an hour. The food was good and so was the wine. It’s crowded but not too noisy to catch up as a group of four.

Yeah that’s the way. Give me a good looking 2nd floor bar, old wooden floors, barkeepers that know what they are doing and a decent Whiskey and I tell you, you just checked in at «The Fellow». Love the athmosphere, even the music could have been louder, because I felt like dancing, and with the ambient sound, I easily make myself look like a fool. So next time, turn the volume up and I rate you 5 stars!

We rolled in with a group of 11 people, looking for a night cab after dinner. Downstairs was crowded and no table was available so we almost left. Luckily my colleague discovered their upstairs bar and I highly recommend going there if you are in that area. The upstairs bar is dark and comfy and they prepare really good drinks. I went for the«Sloe Gin Sour» for 7,50 and it was fantastic. Just what I needed(I actually didnt know what I needed until I took the first sip, yumm)! To be honest I got a little scared when I saw the bartender putting raw egg white in the drink, but it blended in just fine. Not to sweet, not to sour, not to strong, just perfect! They also have a really cute terrace for the quick nicotine fix. Nice detail: They were serving Glühwein that night and when we entered the Fellow, it smelled like cinnamon and christmas. HOHOHO.

Looking to imbibe? Take a trip upstairs… The Sloe Gin Sour for 7.50? Yes, please. Two. Maybe. Ok, one. One for my friend. The downstairs was jumpin’(not a seat to be had on a chilly Wednesday night), but we found just enough space upstairs for our group. There are several very large seating options, though I am unsure if they can be reserved. Nice outdoor seating as well(perhaps in nicer weather). It’s dark. It was cash only this night. The bartenders were skilled(whip that egg white, booooy!) and it’s well priced for the high quality. I’ll surely pop back in for dinner(with a reservation, apparently!). The area(right next to King’s Cross/St. Pancras) isn’t the most idyllic in terms of charm, but if you’re a weary traveler this might be the respite you need. A cocktail and some wifi, get after it. Well located to public transit as a resort, too… obviously! Cheers.

Perfect place for a PARTAY, This place took us, 70 characters from the campest choir around and welcomed us into their bosom. I loved this venue for so many reasons. 1– It’s right by Kings Cross station and a casual 10 mins walk from rehearsals 2. Despite being right by a major city station it is not full of touristy types and has class and soul. 3. It opens relatively late for a Sunday. Try finding a decent bar around that area open untill 11ish on a Sunday. I dare you. 4. Great party space. We reserved the upstairs area, known as ‘The cocktail bar’. There are tasteful booth’s a-plenty, nice floor space and amazing added bonus — — - — - — OutSide space, covered, heated, seated, big. 5 Very accommodating, even setting us up with our ‘retro’ CDs and generally being very attentive. 6.Great deal for hiring the space Reasonable range at the bar, but better on the downstairs bar. We had ordered some nibbles and they were pretty awesome from what I can remember. The chef was a sweetie and the food was out in a flash, mega organised. The whole party enjoyed there time there and commented on how great the space was. I hope we behaved ourselves and they’d let us back, because we’ll def be coming here again.

Perfect for meeting friends with trains to catch! You actually forget that you are this close to a major ]station, but by the same token the Fellow doesn’t really feel like a pub anymore either. I went here for a lovely girlie lunch with champagne and delicious food.
