Found this place by accident at the weekend. It’s a lovely organic café, near Broadway Market. The prices are super reasonable considering the neighbourhood — certainly much cheaper than the trampery next door. It’s very homely and the seats are so comfortable. Easily passed an hour reading my book. I went for a goats cheese panini, with salad. It was absolutely delicious and at £5, you can’t really go wrong. Drinkwise the juices and smoothies looked lovely, but I couldn’t resist going for a peroni. Couldn’t believe how reasonable it was at under £3. Can’t wait to go back when I’m next in the area.

The place is really nice, food and coffee are good. I just wish the service was a bit better, more friendly and caring more about their customers.

Dropped in here one afternoon after visiting Broadway Market, when I needed somewhere to sit with wifi to solve some wireless issues I was having with an O2 dongle. The staff were very pleasant, and the other reviews are correct that this is the sort of place that will allow you to sit about and work for hours. I wasn’t that into the overall vibe/décor, and the food wasn’t that appetizing, otherwise I would have definitely come back by now, but it was a nice enough place to sit with a coffee and work.

Organic foodstore/deli/café serving really unusual combinations of ingredients. Good coffee and an atmosphere that encourages lingering had my daughter and I doing just that. Look out for this adorable place on the corner.

Mare street is often treated is an underappreciated thoroughfare for some people visiting Hackney, the annoying bus-clogged road that you have to ‘just deal with’ until you get to the final destination of the Hackney Empire, Victoria Park Village or London Fields. However there are a few lovely treats to be found here, and the Corner Deli is one of these. An organic food store-cum-café, it serves the finest of Paninis, conserves, cheese, artisan breads and organic meats. As well as homemade hummous. Yum yum. It’s occasionally less expansive than some of the Broadway stores, but more so than the brilliant Grocery(a shop on Kingsland Road) just to give you a sense of where it sits, price-wise. It’s a fantastic place to sit down for a coffee, as it’s gloriously un-crowded and not many people know it exists. Get through the entire Observer, supplements and all, without getting in anyone’s way or having someone nicking the Review when you dash for the loo.

I like this spot. Super friendly people. solid food, good coffee, warm atmosphere. I had a good risotto dish that was sort of more like a brown rice with vegetables and a sprinkling of parmesan cheese, but it was definitely enjoyable. I also had a ginormous veggie breakfast with enough beans to feed a small orphanage of Oliver Twists. Note: these were separate days, I don’t have thaaaaat much stomach space. The people who work there are really nice and are cool with you sitting for hours and working. It’s very kid-friendly — the owner’s adorable blond daughter runs around looking cute and tries to eat all the candy bars. There are ample toys and other attractive non-edible kid items, if you should happen to have one of those. Kids, not non-edible kid items. If I had one, I’d be psyched to have somewhere with good coffee, totally satisfactory food, and a friendly place to hang out.

The Corner is a solid spot for tasty sandwiches and free wifi. It is certainly a popular place with the local workers and gets a bit nuts around the lunch rush. It is family friendly which means it can get loud, but there is plenty of space. I also like their organic juices and, if you can get there in the morning, they make a dynamite breakfast sandwich with fresh croissants. The owner is a very nice guy who doesn’t mind you sitting for, say, 8 hours whilst you do work(theoretically of course). His is the old fashioned way of doing business: make your customers happy and they’ll come back. Can’t argue with that.

This is my favourite place for a coffee in all of London! They do EXCELLENT, nigh-on-perfect, cappuccini for £1.50, which is a bargain compared to the average cup of steamed milk you get around this City. Free wi-fi and the staff is super; you can order at the bar if you wish or just sit down at any of the many tables inside or outside and you will be served quickly, even when the place is quite packed. Their foods and non-coffee drinks are also high quality, and moderately priced. The place offers a really pleasant atmosphere, sort of gentrified-Hackney less most of the annoying pretentiousness of certain Broadway Market establishments nearby.

If you’re into all things organic then this is your place. Carrot, Apple & Ginger juices, Smoothies, Full English or Veggie breakfasts, Soups, and Sandwiches… They also sell organic products so you can do a bit of shopping while you’re eating. It is fairly spacious inside, albeit slightly clinical, it just doesn’t have the warm cosy feeling of some cafes. Its not cheap but if it’s healthy, Organic grub you’re after then it’s worth the extra pennies. Don’t expect outstanding service but do expect a fairly relaxed & welcoming atmosphere, decent food and possibly a queue for the till.(you don’t pay at the table) If you’re fancying a coffee, I’d advise you to wait and grab one from Climpsons on Broadway Market, stick to the juice at the Corner Deli.
