This restaurant is now owned by local Italian chef Peppe and has a wood fired pizza oven turning out very good pizza with toppings ranging from delicious classics like four cheeses to a luxurious truffle & bresaola combo and, just for laughs, frankfurter & fries. The small size is massive for one and really reasonably priced. The pasta is also pretty good — I’ve tried to sausage and cauliflower combo and want to go back for the decadent sounded porcini mushrooms and truffle wrapped in speck! The last time I went I tried the prawns which were good but I’d probably stick to the pasta or pizza in future. The brown/reddish olives they served were some of the best I’ve ever had. My dad is a very frequent visitor here and always gets a very warm welcome. I was extremely impressed with how they handled our party of 12 — no wait for the food and it all came at once, with no errors! This is a neighbourhood style restaurant and wouldn’t be worth a trip away from your own good local Italian but if you live in the Kingston area definitely give it a try.

The Cardinal is an old pub that has a very tired feel about it. Split into 2 bars with Sky television in the Public Bar which seems to attract the younger louder element of society. My initial impression was it lacked any kind of atmosphere and the beer was badly kept. The seating was comfortable. It has a long bar and a garden out the back. Sunday roast is probably this establishment’s highlight and it does get busy but for the rest of week generally it has a trickle of customer. That maybe because there are much better pubs within walking distance. Overall it is a tired feel about it and is not really worth going out of your way to visit. On the number 371 bus route.
