Recently reopened, this old-man pub has been refurbished to something a bit more fun, dark and entertaining. With Iron man posters on the walls, a Simpson’s pinball machine, darts and other décor straight out of a Hackney Flea Market, this place brings the East to the South East without the pretention you sometimes get in Shoreditch. Beer selection is great, according to my craft beer loving friends, and their cocktail menu has some delicious sounding mixes. I was pretty happy to find that a pint and a gin and lemonade only cost me £8-£9, instead of the usual £10-£15 I would expect from a similarly styled establishment. The owner is incredibly friendly, and happily chatted with us as we lounged on two leather couches near the window, enjoying the dimly lit ambiance on a Friday night. Bartenders are equally as cheerful. I’m very excited to see this place become a happening, popular boozer in my neighbourhood. Also can’t wait for the pizza too. Updated 04÷04÷16: Pizza is incredibly crisp thin crust with fresh toppings. Really delicious.

This used to be a really nice pub and I have had a drink in here on many occasions. But now it seems to get a lot of trouble makers. It’s very unfortunate as it is a very good looking pub as well. Last few times I have attended the beers have been off as if the pipes are not cleaned very well and no real ales.

This pub looks lovely and has an old fashioned charm to it that goes beyond the Truman’s roof. The landlord is a cheery bloke too, it is just a shame that if you are a real ale drinker you will need to seek out alternatives!(For example Guinness or Strongbow). Minimum spend 5 pounds during the footie.

I love the Black Horse. The landlady is great and very friendly and welcoming. Well worth a visit to a real old fashioned London boozer.
