Awesome place with a perfectly placed happy hour. Me and my friends are frequent visitors there and we will continue to go. The service is great and the atmosphere is thrilling.

Very interesting place. I visited it few times and was amazed by its fascinating decoration. In addition service was fine and staff was very friendly.

Went there will the girls and need I say more I saw the outside and assumed the venue was small. As soon as we went downstairs it was as if we where in a different era, the décor is sophisticated sexy. The service was impeccable and the cocktails were perfect. What can I say I am a fan of doll house and I recommend anyone who wants to have a great night and party till you can’t no more to go.

Awesome décor inside, in the style of a Turkish bathhouse, and definitely one of the most unique and quirky places to go in the City! Once you’re past the unassuming entrance to the cavernous basement downstairs, every wall and pillar is covered in Turkish bathhouse design, with some odd pieces such as a statue of Jesus on the bar counter. Bathhouse is a restuarant as well as a bar; we were there for an office Christmas party, so we took over the bar area and had a buffet of Christmas turkey and stuffing and potatoes. The food was distinctly average, but the bar service was quick(well, there was only 40 of us anyways). The DJ we had though, was just aweful… playing tunes that were hard to dance to! In any case, I came away from the Bathhouse with some good memories… and definitely will be back again, although probably only for a drink(a bit pricey — Asahi on tap: £4). love, love, love. I had heard of this place as apparently they had a burlesque night in here which had a great atmosphere — not sure if it’s a regular thing though. Jenn is right, on the street level there is a tiny coffee shop for takeaway orders, by night it becomes the cloakroom for the subterranean bar and restaurant. Matthew’s review tipped me — It’s perfect for a date or cozy dinner, as you go down one flight of stairs, you enter the small bar area to the left and the long restaurant to the right. The walls are completely tiled and there are quirky glass etchings of skeletons(sort of like medical journals) on the walls. Everywhere there are vintage pieces of furniture and curios. Especially liked the white ice buckets shaped like a clawfoot bath — super cute! We say for a bottle of red and although the place was virtually empty at 5.30pm on a Friday night, but it soon filled up. Service was great and a slick maitre’d seemed to be very efficiently seating guests. I reeeeeally want to come back to try the restaurant — all candles and vaulted tiled ceilings and flowers on the table, it’s very intimate and different.

Lovely décor. Bar is tiny, but the bartenders are very efficient. Went on a Saturday night and the music was decent — it veered from the 50s to present day and faired best when it stuck with the older stuff. If you come in a large group, expect a bit of a wait as they will only let you in in smaller bursts.

Stranded near to Liverpool Street Station with a couple of hours to kill, Qype iPhone application came to the rescue and I searched the nearest 5 star place for a cocktail. The Bathhouse it was; and what a place! Even when you approach the building it strikes you that there’s something a little bit different and special about this place. We were there at a rather odd time of the evening and they were apparently setting up for a private event, but everything about this place excited me. It’s a little odd sitting in what you know to have previously been an underground bath. Raise your eyes to the ceiling and breathe-in deeply the aroma of its history; I’m not trying to be pretentious in my description here, it really does smell of an old bath house! You can smell that mixture of towels, bathing, sweat, and salt. Sorry, I know that sounds hideous, but in reality it’s utterly charming and lovely, and not off-putting in the slightest. The interior is pure luxury. It manages to be on that fine line between plush /swanky, and vintage and charming. I am very fussy about the Bloody Mary. The number of times I have had to return a drink because they couldn’t even bother to put a stick of celery in, let alone get the proportions right. What kind of Bloody Mary has no celery! I digress — The Bathhouse made me one of the best Bloody Maries I’ve ever had, period. I know that one visit may not be enough to convince someone that a place is worth a 5 star review, but I believe you can tell a lot from the quality of a single drink, and on this basis alone I am confident in saying they take their drinks very seriously. There’s clearly an ethic of excellent quality about this place. I will be coming back. Visit — you are in for a treat.

The best part of this club is without doubt the décor. Themed along kitsch Victoriana lines, the place is bedecked with golden birdcages, plush velvet drapes, intricately-painted tiles, flocked wallpaper and even a grand piano at the side of the dancefloor. There is an astonishing attention to detail and with its entrance in an old Victorian bathhouse seemingly plonked in the middle of the pavement near Bishopsgate, it certainly stands out amongst today’s forgettable bog-standard bars. However, the service leaves something to be desired. I was responsible for making a large group booking and contacted them asking to be added to the guest list and also to reserve an area. The response essentially said«yes, ok». I replied with the names of the group(voluntarily on my part, since they never actually asked for them) and repeated my question as to whether they would reserve an area. The emailed reply said«that’s all sorted» which I understandable took to mean that they had. When I arrived at the club, we were made to queue outside. I told the grumpy female bouncer than we were on the guestlist and her response was«Everybody’s on the guestlist». When I replied«Wow, that’s exclusive, isn’t it?», she of course remained stony-faced. Happily there wasn’t long to wait, and indeed we only paid the guestlist price of £5 per head which is pretty cheap for the area. .. but once inside, I discovered that they had not reserved an area for us after all. Luckily, there was a whole booth free which accommodated us quite nicely, but that made it even more infuriating since they could quite easily have marked it out for us before we arrived. The music was a great mix of styles and decades, but they barely had any of the tracks that my friends suggested. I had a brilliant time overall but I suspect that it was largely to do with our general feeling that night. The décor is fabulous and the music is fun, but the customer relations leave an enormous amount to be desired. If you are looking for somewhere fun and different, and aren’t hoping for any contact with the customer services team, then you should thoroughly enjoy yourself. But the less you talk to the staff, the better time you’re likely to have.

I’ve got a lotta love for this place. In all fairness the last time I was here was nye and it was packed to the rafetrs, but the décor is better than anywhere I have ever been in London, hands down. The website is also beautiful. The drinks are pricey, but the location and the fact its a really old underground building just adds to its coolness. I hope word doesn’t spread too quickly, because not a lot of my friends know about this place.

I used to come here pretty often when I worked in a restaurant round the corner and it was consistently amazing… the décor is beautiful, nicely stocked bar with quick, friendly staff and relentless rock and roll /swing music right through to the early morning(Saturday nights). We were so smitten the first time we got through the door that we’d managed to find somewhere that wasn’t a total dive, yet didn’t mind us coming a little later on to dance our trotters off and forget about the ketchup stains down our aprons. But in recent months it seems like the place has slowly become something else. You know when you turn up to a club and their guest list queue is twice the size of the normal queue and you can’t but help give your mate the sceptical sidewards glance… Apparently one-in-one-out means letting all your goonie mates waltz in as a queue of people stand there completely static for 45 minutes til they’re about to pee on the doorstep. I understand all clubs like to have a little crowd outside to make them appear that everyone is clawing at the doors to get in, but this place just gets silly. They change their letting in time on a day to day basis and door staff are wanky and seem to have little idea of how to manage people. Bit of a shame, really. When she was good, she was very very good… but when she was bad she was horrid.

This place is the most sultry of bars near Liverpool Street. I’m almost not cool enough. Red velvet and candelabras make for a very sexy drinking experience, not to mention the eye-candy staff. It’s underground and a bit hidden from taxi view, but if you can find it, it’s well worth it!

Came here with the intention of enjoying one of Ciro’s pizzas and was rather surprised to discover that it is no more. In fact we considered leaving after we had been shown to our table(still in a blur of confusion at finding the whole place changed beyond recognition). Glad we stayed in the end though. There were a couple of pizzas on the menu and as that was what we were in the mood for, that’s what we went for and despite my usual favourite choices not being available, I found their goats cheese pizza to be excellent. I think the place is a bit more suited for a date though, than grabbing some food with a mate. too many candles! I might come back and I might like it a bit more when I know what is waiting for me at the bottom of the spiral stairs. It certainly looks a lot nicer and less tacky than Pizza Pomodoro.

This must surely be a very very popular club. You see, i work in the building next door and whenever i am in office late i can see long queues of kids much younger than me that extend up to Bishopsgate. The bar isn’t too bad either. The underground bar and dining area is spacious and well decorated and they make some nice but expensive cocktails. This is one of the few places i know which sell Johnie Walker Blue Label … so its probably a place where an investment banking salesman brings his client to peddle exotic derivatives, and not where a college kid watches Premier league football. Having said all this, the place i really want to review is the small cute coffee shop on the overground part of this converted Turkish bath. My colleagues and i come here for a coffee at lunchtime everyday, and not simply because it serves us good coffee(which it does btw). Every afternoon when i go in there, i am immediately attracted to the gramaphone by the window, which plays old music. Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Simon and Garfunkel … it seems that i have been transported 40 years back … to a different age … to a different world. Those ten minutes that i stand there sipping my coffee are some of the best time on my normal workday :) Getting back to more mundane matters, this coffee shop has one of the best loyalty schemes i have ever come across. If you get them the loyalty card of any other coffee shop, they will give you their own card for it … they exchange one stamp for one. Isn’t that awesome? You can also use their premises to cut a birthday cake, as we did for one of my colleagues today. The only reason i am not giving it five stars is because i wasn’t too impressed with the food here the last time i had it. But the free pizza slices they keep for the coffee customers are pretty good though. Its one of the best coffee shops in London if you ask me.

Had coffee there today with a friend. I asked shyly whether they do a Flat White and yay, they do, because they are Aussies!!! Really, really good coffee. Although the café room is tiny, there is seating outside(okay, not that great when it is cold and drizzly but oh, imagine what it would be like in the summer, sitting in the court yard next to the onion dome building). Love it! Will be back to check out their food in the downstairs restaurant. Great staff. Before anyone asks, yes this is the same premises that used to be the Ciro’s pizzeria.

This is a great, unusual location for a café/bar/club, and is slightly off the road, so not that easy to come across. I went to Caligula, a club night here and loved the beautiful interior and the atmosphere. There was entertainment during the nght in the form of carnival-style dancers, who joined the dancefloor in their huge feathery costumes! My only very slight problem was the size– as is fairly clear from the picture, the bathouse is quite small. It goes underground, opening up into a smallish bar and a larger area where the djs play. This room is long and thin, with the dj booth in the middle, and gets very busy! Once you’re in this is fine, but it does mean the queue can be slow when it gets to the ‘one out one in’ stage. If you’re prepared to wait outside for a bit, then it’s definitely worth checking out, even for the unusual location itself!

I’m not usually the one to argue with bouncers and usually I leave them a wide berth. However, twice I’ve been here pretty much sober and twice we’ve got into arguments with the bouncers. Man, these women have some major ego problems. Inside, the club the bouncers starred at us like criminals. Hey dudes! I know you are supposed to be mean and all, but honestly? you are infinitely more suited to be prison guards and last time I heard, we don’t pay ourselves to go to prison, especially not one that is a converted victorian bathhouse. Bouncers who deter you from returning to a club? Massive mistake.

Coming here made me feel like a hip hip Lady. Apparently it is built from a converted mausoleum, i don’t know if that’s completely true but it certainly adds a level of intrigue to the place. THe entry way is the only part that is above ground is no bigger than a winnebago [do you guys know what that is out here?] but half the entrance is a staircase to lead downstairs, and the other half is a café. as it is located in a business area between 2 very big business office buildings. the actual bar areas have really cool décor with skeleton decorated tile mosaics, and birdcage DJ booths. and red velvet ceilings. I thought I would be frightened because i always assume places like that are haunted. but alcohol kept me from getting too scared. false sense of safety I guess.

This is just a review for Friday night, as I’ve heard other things about other nights. But it’s more of a 3.5 star than 4. Venue — 5 stars. The place, and by place I mean a serious underground Turkish bath, is immaculately decorated everywhere you look — candles, fruits, paintings, flowers… The DJ is in a massive birdcage. And it’s free before 12:30 so that’s awesome. Atmosphere/Crowd — This is where it starts to get a bit off and where the stars come off. It’s got a great venue, but such a weird vibe. There is loud electronic music playing, but nobody on the dance floor or doing anything other than looking super trendy and dressed up to look super trendy to do nothing. I felt like I should’ve dressed up in some ridiculous neon colored gear or done my hair/make up all crazy just to fit in. Bottom line — It’s definitely a cool spot worth checking out, but not somewhere you’d want to spend the whole night as it feels like the majority of the people have a stick up their ass.

What a stunning place! The marble and gilt interior of the former baths makes for a fantastic cocktail bar. I’m sure it’s great any time, but late on a Sunday night when the truly decadent come out to play, they host the Boom Boom Club cabaret, putting the house grand pianos(one is purely decorative) and the golden birdcage dj booth to good use. In a Cinderella moment, I left before the stroke of midnight(damn you day job!), and it was only just starting to warm up. Definitely worth the monday morning hangover.

Amazing building in the middle of the city — this is an old turkish bathhouse complete with an onion dome which serves incredible antipodean coffee — made with love from one of the staff I recognise from Flat White. Apparently plans are to extend to a restaurant and bar soon but for the moment the café alone is worth the visit.
