Although this isn’t right next door to my work, it’s always worth the walk over to Portabello to pick up a coffee(& spend most of my lunch breaks) hiding out in this lovely little coffee shop. The staff are really friendly — not to mention super patient when I’m trying to decide which one of the awesome coffees I want to try out that day. If you venture towards the back of the coffee shop, there’s a lovely little garden space with plenty of seating to waste away an afternoon catching some sun and sampling the great variety of food on offer. My favorites so far are the corn fritters with sweet chilli sauce, the banana pancakes and the avocado salad. Don’t forget to try out the St. Johns’ donuts too — the vanilla custard ones are pretty killer.

Came this morning and received a very bad news: It’s closed down. No more coffee at Talkhouse. What a shame ! This means that my hunting for a good coffee around here has began again!!!

Coffee has good depth. It’s worth the walk. The space is bright and clean and the service is friendly. My flat white was not hot enough but that’s an easy fix recommended

Sought out Talkhouse Coffee after Urbanspoon listed it as Vegan-friendly. They didn’t have my Vegan friend’s first choice of milk but offered an alternative that satisfied him. The pastries were a different matter. The waitress didn’t have a clue whether they were Vegan or not and didn’t seek the information from anyone else so my friend decided to pass. My regular coffee was tasty but not exceptional at £3 a cup. Not a bad option if you happen to be in the area but think twice if you’re Vegan.

A nice café on Portobello Road. It had a bit of a Scandinavian and Japanese flare to it with it’s wooden tables, white walls and very clean lines in decoration. Simple and elegant. Let’s start with the positive; the space is very calm and pretty quiet and they have free wireless internet! It was the perfect setting for catching up on my work which is what I was looking for. I ordered the breakfast tea(I think it was called Japanese breakfast) and it was absolutely delicious. I also liked the presentation of the tea with a little thermostat and a glass tea pot. But it wasn’t all good. I also tried to order a avocado toast from the menu(I was brought) but couldn’t because they informed me that the kitchen is closed. This was in the middle of the day and in the menu it clearly states that breakfast is served all day. That was a bit of a downer. Also the service wasn’t outstanding, maybe even a little bit rude. Anyway I loved the tea and it’s a good place to chill with my computer and if they will feed me next time, I’ll be a happy camper ;)

The coffees at Talkhouse Coffee are definitely the most beautiful in the area. Also the dearest. No tall, grande, vente here — the shots are measured in ounces and even the larger one is served in a relatively modest cup. And there’s only coffee, no macciato, cappuccino, flat white nonsense. What put me off at the beginning was the hipster attitude which you’d expect in Hoxton but which just grates a bit in Portobello. When showing signs of impatience I was told that coffee this good takes time — yeah right. I think they hadn’t quite mastered the equipment as they are coping well now without massive queues forming. Sugar is now also available — no more snubbing for spoiling the brew. Great improvement and Talkhouse has become my go to destination when only the best will do …

I have no idea if the coffee is good because they completely ignored me. Sat there for a good ten minutes and saw eight other people sit down near me, order and get their food before I got up and left. They did acknowledge I was there when I walked in, but then ignored me, even when I tried to catch the waitress’s eye.

Went to check this place out after it won runner-up in the Time Out Love London awards. Walked straight in and bagged a table(though I think we were lucky!), and tried a black Americano. Or a long black if you’re being snobby about it. We sat near the front, so it was quite busy(although in a non-intrusive way, it wasn’t annoying) — but there are larger tables up by the back. Coffee was great, and made with real care and attention(each portion of ground coffee is weighed before it’s pressed). Didn’t try the pastries, but they looked amazing!

Best coffee in this area. Really nice space with a room at the back back with a big table. It would be a perfect spot to relax and get in a good head space to get some work done over a coffee. Trendy, calm vibe.

Very minimalist design, great place for studying or socialising. The waiters also let you try shots of their new blends for free!

Minimal menu, maximum coffee experience Very, very good coffee and very, very good pastries make this the perfect spot on Portobello Road for a spot of people-watching before you return to the sport of market shopping.

This place is quite hot. To begin with, its in the dodgy part of Portobello road. I happened to be wandering there as I’ve had guests and had to tour them all across London. It’s quite a hipster friendly space and with prices to match. However, the clientele was an interesting mix of East London hipsters and Chelsea and Notting Hill money. There’s coffee-relevant décor and its actually a place where you can sit down and there’s full service, as opposed to most cafes in the area. We’ve only sat down for a quick lunch and had the chicken avocado sandwich that was miles better than the Pret equivalent. Freshly made and it tasted delicious. Would certainly recommend. On the way out we grabbed an espresso to go that tasted just as I expected: well roasted and not burnt. I’d go back to try their desserts and cakes — but its highly unlikely that I’ll visit the area anytime soon.

Best coffee on Portobello Road. Super smooth and drinkable, even for a coffee weakling like me. Also I’ve never seen it mobbed, even during the madness of Portobello Saturdays. Atmosphere and décor will make you feel like you should be wearing cooler shoes(unless of course you’re wearing really cool shoes).

If I have my girlfriend to thank for converting me from tea to coffee, I have Talkhouse Coffee to thank for sealing the deal. Well, in fact my girlfriend also introduced me to Talkhouse Coffee. So maybe I just have my girlfriend to thank for everything. Whichever, Talkhouse Coffee is very much this coffee-lovers dream. The coffee is top-notch — Square Mile, Workshop Coffee — and expertly prepared, in this case via Aeropress and served as standard without milk. The result is an epiphany: that coffee doesn’t necessarily have to be a hot, strong drink to provide a much-needed jolt of caffeine, it can actually be refreshing, full of delicate yet pleasing flavours and something to sip in awe rather than absent-mindedly. Talkhouse Coffee’s interior is predominantly white and airy while the staff are friendly and faintly hipster. It all rather reminds me of Blue Bottle Coffee in Brooklyn, another place that wowed me. Like Blue Bottle Coffee, Talkhouse Coffee’s walls are dotted with coffee-making equipment, giving relative newcomers like me an insight into just how dedicated coffee die-hards are when it comes to experimenting their way to the perfect brew. Rather surprisingly, Talkhouse Coffee also serve food, and it’s similarly noteworthy. I had a splendid stack of American pancakes with blueberries, bananas, cream and maple syrup. My girlfriend had sweetcorn fritters. Both dishes were excellent. Talkhouse Coffee sell Workshop Coffee in bags(beans or ground on the spot). We have a bag at home, but that won’t deter us from coming back here on a regular basis.

Talkhouse Coffee is a new coffee shop in the centre of the tourist hotspot Notting Hill. The interior reminds me a little bit of Salt( ), like a posh version of Salt, perhaps. There are places to sit in the room around the counter and there is also a second room in the back. In the second room, the hustle and bustle of Portobello Road is far away. It is a very light place what makes it good for reading. I did not exactly understand their approach to naming and the different sizes, my flat white was called 5oz and not flat white. But who cares about the name, when it tasted good? They use Workshop Coffe and yes, the coffee is really good. Besides coffee, Talkhouse Coffee also offers delicious food. The duck scone is more a strawberry scone, but is made with duck fat. It is small and tastes excellent. Another sweet treat was a little almond and raspberry tart, or something like that. Whatever it was, it was even better than the strawberry scone. I am not too familiar with the area, but I think it is safe to say that Talkhouse Coffee is one of the best coffee shops on Portobello Road. It is very clean, perhaps a bit too clean, but as a poshed-up version of a nice coffee shop with great food, Talkhouse Coffee is definitely a place I can fully recommend.

London has a continually growing population of coffee houses in various forms – whether mostly espresso drinks or espresso drinks and pastries or full on eats to order. Talkhouse Coffee is bringing some extremely well-pulled espresso to the Notting Hill neighborhood. They’re just barely 1 week open as of this writing and I have to say that they’re operating quite smoothly. This review is about the experience, the staff, and the espresso, as I didn’t get a chance to sample their delectable baked goods for having just finished brunch. The space is well-lit by natural light as well as well-designed lighting. Stools at counter areas make for compact seating enough for your coffee and baked good. The back room has some 4-tops and communal seating. It’s a bit tight when strollers get rolled through in there, but otherwise looks to be a cozy space to enjoy your break. The staff is quite warm and friendly, being pretty flexible about you moving spots should a more inviting seat open up. Interactions with them were warm and friendly; never cold nor rude nor too«customer service» trained. Now, the espresso. I wish more places knew how to pull a proper espresso. Large pucks for each pull and just a wee bit of that nectar served up barely making it to 1⁄3 to a ½ of the demitasse cup. I believe they set the standard in Notting Hill for espresso, and are among the best of the coffee breed in London. Have a respite craving while swimming the river of gawkers at Portobello Market? You could do far worse than to drop into Talkhouse Coffee.

Great food and great coffee. Always rather busy, and buzzing with casual walkins and coffee takeouts. An obvious consequence when the coffee is so good and this is like one of the very few coffee shops in the area. But, sometimes this reflects on service(which can get rather slow and uncaring).
