Good prices 5.45 small/7.45 large order, comes with chips and can of soda. They also have chicken and chips and burgers. 1 block east of Paddington Station and one block South.

Wow, great value — great fish — and a nice clean place! You will not be disappointed. We had two full meals and diet cokes for about £15. See the pic

Good quality, very reasonable price, no frills. My kids have sampled fish and chips in many places and they say this is among the best. Get the ‘special’: everybody does. But buyer beware the ‘orange juice’ option: it’s a juice box!

My first time having fish and chips in London so I don’t have much to compare it to but I thought it was good! And affordable(5.95 pounds for the Sussex special which comes with a medium fried fish, fries, and a soft drink). Food comes out quick. Definitely a no frills place but great for a quick bite. In the padington area and near the hotel I stayed at. Would come again!

My second trip into London started off with a bang. This is probably the fourth time I’ve had fish and chips in the UK and I never have it back in America b/c the stuff is too good here. I ordered the medium cod meal, which was prepared really well(applying the lemon on the fish makes it so much worth it). Other than the fact that my metabolism is catching up with me, I would definitely recommend this establishment. The proximity to London Paddington and the relaxing atmosphere inside serve as an added bonus to above-average food. There are plenty of fish and chip joints in London alone, but overall this place does have quality dishes.

Popped in for a late night snack. Seems to be a popular place for locals. Everything was as you’d expect for fish and chips. No complaints and no fond memories.

Wow Guv! Real british fish & chips. Rolled up in(unprinted) newspaper no less. Lots of salt and vinny on there too. Great take-away lunch on my way to Heathrow, since it’s just a stone’s frow from Paddington.

While this was my first fish and chips experience in London, I did expect it to be somewhat unique or at least somewhat different from any standard piece of fried fish. Unfortunately, it was pretty boring. The chips were a bit stale, but the fish was ok. The location was convenient and near paddington and the local hotels. Would I give it more than 3 stars, no. Maybe I can compare it with other options after my week long stay here and I may reconsider. Long John Silvers has a more tasty selection… Sorry Sussex

Pretty standard fish and chips place. Food was pretty standard, maybe a bit bland.

If you are looking for good fish and chips, but not a sexy place to eat this is the place to go. The food is solid, but it is not a fancy place to eat. The prices are cheap and the service is fast.

We stopped here three times while we were staying in Paddington. The location is very convenient to Paddington station and the several hotels in the area. The prices are reasonable, the restaurant is clean, and the service is very friendly and attentive. You can eat in the restaurant(the prices are higher if you do this) or order takeaway. The fish tasted very fresh and was lightly battered, although it was a bit on the greasy side(completely soaked through the paper in the takeaway box). The chips are perfectly English. They also offer fried chicken and some other seafood and non-seafood items. My husband and I both loved the scampi(allow some extra time for them to fry the scampi). I preferred the haddock to the cod, but both were good. For the fish and chips, you can order small, medium, or large. The large is a huge portion! I was most impressed with the staff — they were incredibly courteous and friendly. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back if I am in Paddington again.

I’ve been holding off this review for far too long. I went to Sussex Fish Bar when I went gallivanting across Europe over the summer. It’s in a very touristy part of town, so the prices are a little higher, but I would definitely recommend this place. In fact, when I return next summer, this will be the 1st place I go to. When I walked out of Paddington Station and checked into my motel, the first thing I looked for was a fish and chips place. Luckily, this place wasn’t too hard to find. You can even see it on Google Earth. I ordered the fish and chips with extra malt. They wrapped it up for me and I took it to the park across the street to enjoy it. It was mouth watering. It was a flavor I can’t describe, but I’ll sure as hell try. The fish had a freshness to it, that you can’t find in AZ(where I live) and by the time I walked to the park, the malt vinegar had soaked into the fish and treated me to a salty/sweet/vinagery creaminess. I still think about it, when I’m craving fish and chips. If your in the Paddington area, definitely check this place out!

A trip to England just wouldn’t be complete without steaming hot fish n chips eaten straight out of the paper. Good ones are hard to find especially when you don’t feel like walking more than ten paces from your hotel. Luckily the Sussex Fish Bar was only two doors down and within five minutes I was smuggling a stinky bag of greasy goodness through the lobby of my 4* «boutique» hotel. Good rather than outstanding, they hit the spot with crispy fat chips and a lightly battered piece of cod that tasted fresh enough for me to question whether it had been frozen. A little greasy but the oil tasted clean and fresh and it was all pleasant enough.
