If you want to enjoy a meal out stay away from this place! Service is shabby and irritating, food is average. Waiting staff are constantly staring and most of the time unnecessarily too chatty.

Definitely a fan! Great food and service! Good price! Grew poppadoms and chutney. Really lovely chicken sag too. Mmm.

Let me start off by saying I have had a lot of Indian food(I’m Indian) and this place just does not make the cut. If you want a watered down version of a masterpiece such as chicken tandoori, then yeah, I guess you could drop by this dump. The one star is only for the subpar food. The owner was an absolute jackass, so he will spoil your mood(and your food). We confronted the waiter about a 6 inch long hair that was in the curry. He apologized profusely and disappeared into the kitchen. About five mins later the owner comes out asking what the problem is. Instead of being apologetic for his incompetence, he muttered something about my friend having long hair. If the food was terrible but the ambiance was okay, there might have been a reason to give this place another star, but the ambiance was just as lackluster as the food. It’s decorated like a cheesy nightclub in the ghetto part of town. Not exactly the prime atmosphere for a nice dinner. Stay FARFARAWAY.

When it comes to Indian food, I’m in a rut, munching on the same mild pap trip in, trip out. I am the archtypal girlfriend in a korma. Well, no more! After a particularly depressing meal at the Empress in Dock Street, I’d vowed that I’d swallowed my last milkshake masquerading as dinner. So at Spice of India, my new local, and one rated which came very highly recommended by friends who lived locally, I went outside the sauce box and had tandoori chicken. Oh my God. My life has changed. For starters, tandoor chicken matches both my lipstick and my lowlights. Amazing! Garlic(not peshwari — change!) naan was as good as naan normally is, and with our poppadoms came a nice spicy twist on the usual cool yoghurty minty grub you get alongside the mango chutney and the one you never eat. The restaurant staff are all very polite and friendly and it was lovely sitting by the open porch. It was warm that evening. God. It feels like weeks, rather than days, ago.

Great nan was the highlight. All else was ok. My apologies to the waiter. I don’t eat Indian much and sorry for asking your advice on what to order. You seemed insulted. Good beer. Flavor a were all a bit muted.
