Southgate Café is conveniently situated opposite Southgate Station. I have been here twice. The first was just for tea. On the second visit I decided to choose from the all day breakfast which they have a large variety of mixes costing 4.00 and upwards. I chose instead to go for egg on toast which for 1.90 is OK except I only got one egg. Not much you can say about egg on toast is there. I can tell you that they offer a good range of home cooked meals especially the lunch menu which includes all the favorites like cottage pie and peas, spaghetti etc as well as all the traditional English breakfast stuff. They also serve their tea very hot which I like. There is no outdoor seating though and attracts a low end kind of clientele. Southgate Café is cheap and very much like a Workman’s café through and through.
