SLP do my favourite piña colada. My second favourite tiki bar in London. Wicked atmosphere and décor inside– lots of tiki-ness and zebra print… haha. I love it here.

It’s in London, so it’s South London, but it’s not in the Pacific, so that is a LIE and very confusing if you expected to turn a corner in Stockwell and turn up on Fiji or something. I’m just saying. They could probably have made it a little clearer.

Meh sums up this place for me. It’s in the middle on nowhere, isn’t particularly atmospheric nor friendly, and everything was ever so slightly sticky. Had fun with friends because, well, they’re my friends! But the cocktails were awful, expensive and I won’t be back.

The cocktails here are scrummy, yet fairly pricey at about £7 each, so it might be best to try Happy Hour first if you’re unsure planning a big night/party here. The atmosphere is great — everyone is here to have fun and dance to cheesy classics(and play a bit of table football!). It’s only a fiver to get in and there’s a cloakroom by the door, so you don’t have to go searching for it. Beware, once the pubs close on Saturday nights a hefty queue can build up. I’ve never really had a problem pre-midnight. In addition to my ‘normal Saturday night’ visits, I came here for New Years Eve just gone, it was Pirates of the Caribbean fancy dress and loads of fun.

The tiki-est tiki bar I’ve been to in London. On a weekend evening, though, they had a cover, and the music and ambiance became less«tiki» and more«generic club» as the night went on.

It recently struck me that I hadn’t been to SLP for donkey’s years, and that something really ought to be done about this. It’s one of the things I most miss about South London since moving North! It’s a fabulous themed Tiki bar that just has every detail down to perfection. The décor, music and cocktails are all spot on, and it’s hard not to feel cheered up after a visit here. I’ve also attended some memorable vintage clothing sales here, and the staff are all very clued-up on their 50s kitsch. Must, MUST make a trip here soon, if only to make sure it hasn’t changed!

This place has been on my list for a while, so I really wanted to like it. However, the cocktails were a little too on the sweet side for my liking. Although for £3.95 I can hardly complain, for a price that’s cheaper than Wetherspoons they were garnished beautifully with paper umbrellas and pineapple slices, getting you into the ‘tiki spirit’. After working our way through the menu, all three of us decided that the Planter’s Punch was our favourite and if you’re looking for a drink that isn’t too sweet then this is the perfect item to order. In a tiki bar it’s often the décor that makes the place and SLP was no exception. From the giant Polynesian heads to the Hawaiian rafts hanging from the ceiling, no expense had been spared. Although saying that, the girl’s toilet was perhaps a little too on the garish side. One mistake that we made was not booking a table, when we arrived at 7.00pm all the tables had already been reserved for birthday parties. Although the staff kindly let us sit down until the group arrived at 8.30pm. There seemed to be a lot of party groups and I’d say that with its fantastically cheap and fun cocktails it’s a great place to celebrate a birthday. However, with it’s out of town location and too sweet cocktails I’m not sure I’ll be returning.

There are good things about South London Pacific. It has cheapish cocktails till 10pm. One of these cocktails was called Hurricane Wind and was one of the best(fruity) cocktails I’ve ever had. It was a bit pink and frilly, but I checked myself out in the mirror and I carried it off well. It also had a cool chair that was mysteriously covered in shadow. it was a total gangster chair, but I was too full of fear to perch myself. However, if there is a Hawaiian underworld in Kennington, this is the HQ. Another good thing would be the décor, which is kitschy without being overdone. It is a tiki bar that knows that it is in South London, if you know what I’m saying. It is also a good place to have conversations about Road House. Best of all, though, is the fact that it is circular. Yes, that is correct. I have a special place in my heart for the ability to make a circuit of a place. My childhood home could be circumnavigated to my heart’s content and it was similar in this bar. If you wanted to go to the toilet, you had a CHOICE of routes. Choices are never a bad thing in my opinion. Personally, I don’t think you’ve lived until you’ve done the circuit. Some may disagree, but they obviously fail to see the significance.

Where can you go to escape the painfully hip and happening nightlife scene? Why, south of the river, of course. South London Pacific transcends the trends yet manages to be absolutely buzzing with energy, packed as it gets with patrons drawn to the Caribbean-inspired cocktails that flow freely and to the generally cool music that leans just THIS side of indie. The camp tiki-like décor might seem ridiculous to some, but this place just wouldn’t be the same without it. If you want anything to drink that deviates from the fruit-juice-heavy cocktail menu, you might be disappointed, as the bar itself isn’t particularly well stocked with anything other than run-of-the-mill high-street liquor that would be used in said ‘Caribbean’ cocktails. Why do I, personally, like South London Pacific? Well, I can drink Malibu and Diets to my heart’s content. And without judgment.

This place is great. It doesn’t seem like you are in a South East London bar. The overall theme is, well, Sout Pacific. Warm, comfy, plenty of girlie coloured drinks for even the toughest sailor and an overall fun atmosphere. Not only is South London Pacific great for a nice little warmth inducing mindset, this place really seems to jump off at the weekends. Somewhere around 9:30pm, it was packed. Maybe cause they have drink specials till 10pm on many tasty cocktails. There is also a decent sized dance floor to get your swerve on while the DJ plays mostly un-obnoxious tunes. If South London Pacific was in Central London, I think it might be ruined. Just my opinion, but getting down to Kennington and back is pretty easy, and this spot makes souf of the river a destination spot.

What a brillant silly and fun place to for a night out in south london! I went on Sat 5th Dec for my birthday. I had a great time the drinks are great especially if you order before 10pm as they are half price. Word of warning it gets super busy and if you are going in a group BOOKBOOKBOOK! When we went there was a band and they were good fun and the DJ plays some great songs after. I will be going back! I loved it and so did all my friends.

I love coming here for Hula Boogie but the cocktails and interior are a great tropical respite from the grey city of London. It is a bit of a trek for those north of the river but definitely one worth making.

Insulated from trends, crowds and fashion is Kennington’s South Pacific — a reliable fallback on a weekend night when the pubs are closing and you want to carry on the festivities but without the hassle. Its South Pacific theme is largely based on oodles of fruity cocktails and a plethora of bamboo on the walls, the bar and the furniture. If this sounds a bit cheesy, then whatever… it kind of is, it kind of isn’t. South Pacific just heard you calling it cheesy and South Pacific thinks ‘fucks you’. South Pacific knows you’ll be here sooner or later and that you’ll have a great time, so put pretensions away and down another dark and stormy. You’ve come all the way out to Kennington, it’s 1am — it’s not like you’re going anywhere else is it? So enjoy the 80s indie music and get as drunk as you can… the night has hours more to go. Good place for parties if you can persuade people to cross the river.

Kennington is quite a remarkable place for its unremarkability. Situated between bustling Camberwell and central Waterloo, it’s a bit of a void on the London map and it’s unlikely you;d consider it as a Saturday night destination. That is unless you’ve noticed the treasure that is South London Pacific. SLP is a Hawaiian-theme tiki lounge bar that attracts a mixed crowd of mostly clued-up locals out for a good, unpretentious time. This isn’t to say it isn’t tacky: it brims with tack, it’s made of tack, it could have been called«tack». But that’s the magic. The place is decorated with tribal masks and bamboo, the staff don garlands and the table footballers wear hawaiian shirts. the music varies from latin funk to disco classics, but is always something you can dance to. My favourite bit is the cocktails: a vast tropical mix, complete with little umbrellas. House options cost just £3.95 before 10pm. A visit to SLP is like a little holiday. the colorful drinks, the kitsch décor and the bubbling atmosphere can’t help but make you smile. So don’t write off Kennington as soulless — it doesn’t need one, it has SLP!

If Kitsch or simply anything Hawaiian is your thing come see this bar! Hawaiian decors line this small island tucked around the corner from Oval station near Kennington. The place is open till late on weekends and serves a great array of cocktails most heavily featuring a healthy dose of rum. The music here is quite varied from lounge, Elvis and a lot of other stuff in between. Always great for a big night out, although the cocktail prices can make it a bit prohibitive as a regular. Occasional live music, great atmosphere The South London Pacific is a place that always feels as though its making an effort. A fun place to party and chill out at the same time!

South London pacific has it’s own unique charm with a mix of Hawaii, cheese, music, cocktails and downright fun. The décor drops you right into the fun spirit of things with the bamboo and masks staring out at you from the walls. The cocktails are well mixed and the bar staff are friendly and for the less adventurous there are your usual beers and wines. I’ve had the chance to see a couple of bands play here as well as to just enjoy a night out with friends. Theres room to dance, there room to chat and with the late opening hours you won’t believe what time it when you get round to leaving. Some people may recognise the bar as I believe it is the cocktail bar from Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

Probably not the place for a Hoxton whore or a Shoreditch kid or anyone too cool for school. This night club transports you back to school disco days. The music is firmly on the cheesy side of dance. The cocktail list is comprehensive and you get an umbrella as standard. The décor has a strong nod to the Hawaiian theme and is not for the faint hearted. All this aside it is a very funny night out, there is table football to amuse the boys if the décor and sight of people drinking cocktails Del Boy would be proud of isn’t amusement enough. A great place for a party or a group by no means go if you are on a romantic date or cant handle cheese.

It is a South Pacific themed club, wild décor and exotic music. They are known by the great cocktails they make but if you cant go without a beer you have a problem cause the ones they have are not tasty.
